JvG is quoted on RTÉ saying Carberry maybe a doubt for the rest of the 6N. I guess that probably means we won’t see Jack this weekend, unfortunately

That's just RTE looking to sensationalise something. The actual quotes are below. I fully expect Carbery to play a part in this 6N still. If the Irish coaching team felt differently, Carbery would be back with Munster doing his rehab instead of being retained within the Irish camp still.
"He will be out for a few weeks with the hamstring injury. We will just take our time week by week. Our medical team and their medical team will stay in contact. Hopefully we will have him back soon.

"It’s a hamstring injury and it takes a bit of time to settle. Obviously for us it’s a worry that he is hurt.

"He is one of our best players and we would love to have him for that game against Edinburgh but that is still a very long way down the road.

"Hopefully he will be back for Ireland against Wales or against the French."

Would really like to see Robb and Farrell start together. Can’t see godwin starting at 10 though. It’ll be Horwitz if fit I’d imagine. Some time for the carty family if Luke made the Connacht bench and made his senior debut 6 days after jack made his Irish one.

Horwitz 10. (Don’t really rate him as a ten but give him another chance)
    Boyle 20
    Godwin/ Luke carty 22
    Leader/ niyi / de buitlear 23

Would probably go with Conor Fitzgerald at 10 again. Obviously he struggled last week so it’s a risk but he did well there in challenge cup and away to Ospreys. Been the best 10 in a Connacht Jersey this season, Carty aside obviously.

Don’t expect anyone else to get released from Ireland camp and no chance Aki plays I think.

Are you sure Leader and Niyi are fit? couldn't see them on the training pics.

Niyi is in the back of one picture, his arm looks heavily strapped, not sure on leader

You’re probably right but if there’s any doubt at all, we’ve no Carty this weekend. And that, as we’ve seen, is a big problem

Not with Godwin as 10. He was recruited to be back-up there, so...

Bollox on Carty. Need one of the other out halves to step up fairly lively. Disappointing for SOB 2.0 too, having to go back in for more surgery on the shoulder, he seems to take after his namesake with his injury record anyway!

Nice to have roux back. Pack will be pretty strong. Sob a big loss but giving mckeon a really good chance. Carty will be a massive loss but it’ll still be nice to see 21. Marmion 22 carty for Ireland

Obviously but Sexton and Murray have been two of the best players in world rugby over the last few years, so regardless of current form getting in ahead of them will be difficult

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,274 ✭✭✭RobbieRuns

    Don't care............. prefer to see them 9 & 10

Current form and Murray/Sexton is a whole different debate !

Faith needs to be shown and on current form........ not over the past few years, more faith should have been shown in Jack. Marmion will need lots more time in fairness. It is all just good humour Wegian. Still prefer to see them at 9 & 10

Tomorrow, nearly always the day before a match, unless the match is on a Sunday. Then it will get released on the Friday

Would be an awful shame if our Champions Cup qualification is torpedoed by international call-ups but what can you do?

Ospreys are going terribly lately so we should be able to beat them regardless if the remainder perform.

Particularly if Jack doesn't get more than 2 minutes.

Don’t get leaving Kelleher on the bench, he’s been flying this season. Obviously he’s leaving but would still be picking him for a game like this, maybe give Fitzgerald a chance vs Sale away or other games.

Have no clue who back up 10 is - TOH I guess?

Pack looks strong, with a 10 12 13 combo that has never played together before probably need to keep it as simple as possible, beat them up front and look to get four points in any fashion, pretty or not.

you must be watching a different Kelleher, he's been poor to very poor in most games he's played this season

Is Horwitz injured or what's happening with him ? Looking forward to the Robb/Farrell partnership.
No 10 on the pitch at all worries me.

Ah now, he's had a couple of defensive howlers but he certainly hasn't been playing poorly. If he was, Leinster would hardly be looking to sign him.

He’s been very good, Leinster aren’t signing him for the craic. He has struggled with the high ball a couple of times and missed the off tackle but generally very good, improved in every facet of his game bar fielding.

Horwitz carrying a knee knock I think

Have been really disappointed with kelleher in the last few weeks. He started the season in flying form but he’s butchering attacks and defensively not sound at the minute. Few times against the cheetahs he could have played a pass to put someone else in but he went himself. Fitzgerald looks hungrier for game time and hasn’t put in a bad shift yet, looking forward to seeing more of him

Fitzgerald should be on the bench really.
Thats a bit of a kick in the balls for him.
