Henderson has been cited for an alleged dangerous clear out at the weekend.

So that's him possibly gone from the Italy game. Looks like we'll be flogging Ryan.

    Here's the incident:

Round the neck, drives the head into the ground. He'll be lucky not to get a ban.

The Scottish hanging judges will probably give him a decent ban.

I'd say the 6Ns are gone for him. I'm just hoping he is available for the Backstop Battle in the Aviva on the 30th March.

Made a lot worse by the other Ulster player (Murphy? can't really tell) driving the player towards Henderson. Think Henderson is unbalanced by that and didn't know much about how it ended up. Unlucky, but he'll probably cop a week or two.

Don't think there's anything in that. He put's the lad's leg down and then just stumbles over, without pulling the other fellow after him. It looks to me as if the other Ulster player is the one imparting the force.

If that was wrestling he’d have gone to his corner and comeback with a snake in a sack. Jordi didn’t help but it was very clumsy of Henderson.

  • Registered Users Posts: 11,689 ✭✭✭✭Eod100

It looked clumsy more than anything, seemed to lose his footing and not like it was coordinated with Murphy on the other side.

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,393 ✭✭✭Paul Smeenus

We've seen plenty of players get red-carded for their part in a top tackle that was really cause by a second player involving themself.

  • Registered Users Posts: 8,299 ✭✭✭Dubinusa

Reckon Kilcoyne and Scannell will get the call this week.
    Dillane and Roux also.
I'd have Carty on the bench. Conway and Larmour on the wings?

The guy chairing the disciplinary committee is the same guy who overturned Steff Evans' red card against Leinster a couple of years ago, after deciding that another guy made the challenge dangerous.

If he decides that Murphy was a factor and follows his own precedent, then Henderson could be OK.

You heard it here first folks.

In fact, I think Hendo was the first player in the Pro14 to have a red card overturned. Against Munster a few years ago.

Ireland should be looking to put 50+ on the Italians. All the recent games have been blow-outs. The Italians just can't seem to cope with Ireland's grinding style at all.

I'd like to see something like the following side selected:

    1. Jack McGrath
    2. Rory Best
    3. Tadhg Furlong
    4. Gavin Thornbury
    5. Quinn Roux
    6. Sean O'Brien
    7. Sean O'Brien
    8. Jack Conan
    9. John Cooney
    10. Joey Carbery
    11. Jacob Stockdale
    12. Bundee Aki
    13. Thomas Farrell
    14. Barry Daly
    15. Robert Kearney

    16. Sean Cronin
    17. Cian Healy
    18. John Ryan
    19. Ultan Dillane
    20. Peter O'Mahony
    21. Caolin Blade
    22. Jack Carty
    23. Robbie Henshaw

McGrath obviously won't be selected, what with them trying to put the screws on him to move to Ulster

I presume he means both versions of Sean O'Brien.

Thornbury is out. I think Jordi may get into the 23?

If it was an English/welsh player and Ireland was playing them next the reaction to that tackle would be a little different

What are you on about? I would think pretty much everyone would agree he has a ban coming.

There's no way in hell that Connacht O'Brien gets a senior call up to a Six Nations game despite having never even been in camp to the best of my knowledge? Barry Daly as well. For **** sake.

    1. Kilcoyne
    2. Cronin
    3. Furlong
    4. Dillane
    5. Roux
    6. Nordi
    7. SOB
    8. Conan
    9. Murray
    10. Sexton
    11. Stockdale
    12. Henshaw
    13. Farrell

    15. Kearney

    16. Scannell

    18. Ryan
    19. Beirne
    20. Van der Flier
    21. Cooney
    22. Carbery
    23. Larmour

probably very close. though i'd bench Furlong. No point in flogging him to death.
edit: maybe the same for stockdale. larmour could start the game.

So it wouldn't be "yeah, I expect him to face a ban"?

Ah here. Was it not very, very, very, very obvious that he's having a laugh?

In fact, I think Hendo was the first player in the Pro14 to have a red card overturned. Against Munster a few years ago.

David Holwell had one over-turned, though think that was in the Cup rather than the League back when such a thing existed.

He does this every so often for whatever reason of his own. Picks players that aren’t even near the squad.

I recall that was his last ever involvement in Irish rugby too so the rescinding of the card mattered not. Was a real shame and reflected badly on those involved.

Good news here. Henshaw signs contract until 2022.

Was an updated squad announced? The original squad was for the first 2 games but I haven't seen an announcement on changes, save on the news about Beirne and Farrell being with the squad.
