I think AM having his stay extended was always going to happen. Nobody at Munster is going to suffer from his presence. Behing Murray, the scrum half situation is a bit of a car crash. Duncan Williams is a Pro14 level operator and that's about it. I'd still expect Murray to appear on a pitch in 2018.

Cronin is unproven at Pro14 level and 26. He's not going to be the answer. James Hart has been a complete bust. Jack Stafford is 22 at the end of the season and has 20 minutes of pro rugby off the bench. Craig Casey, I know nothing about. 2nd year in the academy but if his physical stats are accurate, I don't see him making it as a pro player.

I wouldn't be surprised to see AM have his contract extended beyond this season either. But Munster will need to come up with something soon enough with both Williams and Matthewson turning 33 this season. It's not a million miles off the Pienaar situation, currently.

If they don't extend Matthewson's contract, I reckon they'll go to the market for a NIQ option.

EDIT: Totally forgot about Nick McCarthy.

    Yeah there's two possibilities;
    1) Murray isn't going to be back for a while yet
    or
    2) JVG has said that Williams, Cronin and Hart are not even good enough to be second-choice, and since McCarthy is coming next year, no harm in keeping AM on. We already know he thinks they're crap so very possible.

Could be both of the above of course.

I think Murray himself has said he is targeting the back to back vs Castres. Open to correction...

James Hart, bust label aside, has been out with an injury and perhaps he's not due to return soon.

Some good new on injury front with players including Chris Farrell, Conor Oliver, Ronan O’Mahony, Calvin Nash and Jaco Taute returning.

Matthewson remaining to March confirmed. Not sure why it woudn't be til end of season.

Kleyn's thumb surgery will keep him out for at least 6 weeks.

The Munster squad returned to training at the HPC in Limerick today as preparations started for the Guinness PRO14 clash away to Zebre on Sunday, November 25 (3.30pm Irish time).
A number of players will return to full team training this week including Chris Farrell, Conor Oliver, Ronan O’Mahony, Calvin Nash and Jaco Taute.

Sammy Arnold has completed his return to play protocols and has been training with the Ireland squad.

Jean Kleyn suffered a thumb injury against the Cheetahs last time out and will be out for at least six weeks having undergone surgery.

On the contract front, development prop Cronan Gleeson has completed his short-term contract with scrum-half Mathewson signing a three-month extension to remain at Munster until the end of March 2019.

The following are progressing with rehabilitation: Liam O’Connor (knee), Rhys Marshall (hamstring), Tommy O’Donnell (ankle), Jack O’Donoghue (knee), Dave O’Callaghan (foot), Conor Murray (neck), James Hart (knee), Dan Goggin (knee), Stephen Fitzgerald (foot).

Brilliant news on Farrell. The last update on him said he wouldn't be back until after Christmas. Hopefully he doesn't have any setbacks.

Full team training should mean that those players will be available for the trip to Zebre next weekend. If I can be particularly pleased for any of those players it's Conor Oliver. He deserves some luck and will have opportunities to play with TOD unavailable.

Edit: Kleyn's news is a blow. Gone until 2019. :(

Be a good move by Irish rugby to give us VDF. Super player and struggling to get into the Leinster team. We could do with a guy like that

Do we not have enough with TOD, Cloete, Oliver & JOD(ish)? we're just hit by a particularly odd injury crisis there. Leinster already sent Murphy norrh

VdF isn't struggling to get into the Leinster team at all. Started all our big games this season.

I think he's the best 7 in the country tbh.

Or, and this may be controversial, but Munster could try develop a guy actually from Munster instead.

Looking ahead to Munster v Exeter. Another Exeter tbp win today v Bristol Bears. They're down 5 players and Bristol were leading towards end but penalty try won it for Exeter. Castres only team to get better of them in all competitions so far this season.

Now to get selfish after that incredible weekend for Ireland. Fingers crossed POM bounces back quickly! Very important to have him for the Heineken Cup games in a few weeks.

Good news, Murray returning to full team training. Likely to feature away to Zebre and at home v Edinburgh then before Champions Cup matches.

He kind of hinted at that in a recent interview, great to have him back.

Gloucester tickets are available on general sale on Gloucester website, going fast enough, I'd say an few other pesky Munster fans on there too which they are well aware of from previous experience
Munster supporters are encouraged to purchase tickets directly from Munster Rugby as they have taken their full allocation.

My guess at a team for Zebre:

Cronin, KOB, Archer, Holland, DOS, Wycherley, Cloete, Botha
Mathewson, Bleyendaal, Wootton, Scannell, Farrell, Nash, Haley

Bench: Sherry, Loughman, Parker, SOC, Oliver, Murray, Johnston, Taute

Injured: Marshall, LOC, Kleyn, TOD, JOD, DOC, Hart, Goggin, Fitzgerald
Ireland: Scannell, Kilcoyne, Ryan, Beirne, POM, Stander, Carbery, Arnold, Conway, Earls, Sweetnam

Best of luck with that Gloucester! Munster only have a lottery open, which means that everyone would be separated and you could be in any part of the ground. No thanks, I got 5 tickets in the Shed and there are a few others I know buying today too.

got 3 in the shed myself.
Their website crashed shortly after tickets went on sale due to "unexpected volume" so pretty encouraging from our POV i would think.

Some 18 months for Peter O'Mahony.

Last minute call up vs England in the Aviva. MOM performace
Captained Lions in a test game vs NZ
Captained Ireland to a series win in Australia
MOM performance in beating the NZ in the Aviva

It's absolutely no coincidence at all that he tends to play his best against the All Blacks.

Those extra few minutes during the haka really allows him to fully recover from the anthems before kick off.

Hilarious, he's not even an AIL 1a operator as cons wouldnt even play him when they had a chance to!

Ah McLove he is Pro14 ability. He never will be a top quality option but is a fine run of the mill pro player.
Your opinions on him are well known across here and elsewhere.

Hopefully by the New Year we'll see the injury list decrease. The squad is slowly getting some of its depth players back along with a few starters.

But it simply isnt true. Now i dont think Munster should be continuing to give him contracts as it would be better spent elsewhere but at the same time he has deserved his contracts recently because he's improved.

In your opinion TLS. For next season, you have to admit that it would hard to see him getting a contract renewal with the options we have incoming and currently with the squad.

Is it fair to say that Matthewson is a better SH too?
