While Scannel's kick was another good one, does he work on passing at all? His passing game when he does pass which is rare, is very poor! And the decision to not pass many times is costing us ground/tries

He saved our bacon when cleared the ball from a Cheetahs 5m lineout and then regathered the ball from his own kick.

And then nearly ****ed up all that by throwing it back 10 metres instead of just taking contact.

I have no axe to grind with the guy. I'd keep him and release JJ for example. Just thought his introduction ran contrary to what he was brought on for.

I think given the age profile of each, it's far more likely we'll retain JJ and release Keatley.

All I know is the starting ten BJ did a mighty fine job. Well impressed, reminded my of Ross Byrne and that's not a bad thing at all.

Did he not take it into contact and throw it away in an attempt to prevent them getting a lineout, a lineout they were hard done by not to get?

Yeah but was again a risky ball that didnt need to be played. Go in to touch with it, he'd made 50 metres for us by that stage.

They were hard done by that call too, youre right. Luck of the bounce for us as well just previously.

Separately, any word on their player who went off with what looked like a neck injury?

I do too think more likely JJ is kept but also think Keatley still offers more. Covers more positions and has far more experience than JJ. Just dont see JJ coming good and Billy Johnson showing enough promise to be awarded the rookie role if not better.

Had he taken it into touch and given Cheetahs back possession he'd have someone complaining about him not trying an offload. Some players just can't win.

I've nothing against Keatley, I just felt that Munster were in control for parts of that game and just needed someone to come on and execute the basics well to close it out. Cheetahs didn't look all that bothered and it was mistakes by Munster that kept them in the game.

Keatley didn't execute the basics well, he didn't play badly necessarily, but an experienced operator coming on in that type of a game needs to deliver a bit of composure.

Had Munster lost he wouldn't be the first person I'd point the finger at but he has a role to fill in that team as a senior squad member and yesterday was a further example that he isn't a reliable option to fill that role at pro14 level.

If I were VanGraan I'd be giving all his minutes to Johnson or whoever is next in line. If you can't rely on your experienced guys to do the basics in a tight game with a steady hand then it costs you nothing to use those minutes as development time instead.

Carbery and Johnston are signed up for next season so JJ, Keatley and Bleyendaal are essentially competing for two spots max in next season's squad. It's possible that only one may be retained as Rory Scannell could provide cover in an emergency and there are two flyhalves in the academy.

I hope that Johnston will get more opportunities in the dirtracker games.

I think it's very possible that we won't see Keatley at Munster next season but I don't see the need for the hate he gets either.

We came close to imploding last week against Glasgow. It struck me as Glasgow were allowed back into the game that there was no Keatley or Williams to blame.

Keatley has gotten some sickening abuse over the years and a LOT of it was way over the top even when he had bad days.

Like I said, he wouldn't be the first person I'd have blamed had Cheetah's stolen the win, but he would have been one of the players coming off the bench I'd have been expecting to help Munster tighten up, reorganise defensively and play territory until the clock went red.

I was as disappointed for him as I was in his performance, he just doesn't have anything to offer Munster at this stage in his career and his huge wealth of experience doesn't seem to come to his aid when he's making poor decisions and putting his team under pressure.

Let's not forget Murray can take the kicks too

I agree with Johnson getting some time. IK is on the back 9 of his career and jj is barely ail standard at oh. Jj would be a good 12.

I know this might have been posted before but did anyone see the video with Erasmus seemingly teaching a no arms high tackle at SA training?

Conor Murray named Midi Olympiques World Player of the Year at their Rugby Oscars ceremony. Those French do love a good scrum half.

I've just seen on another site that Munster have a planning application in with Cork CC for an indoor 3G pitch and gym behind the North terrace in Musgrave Park. http://planning.corkcity.ie/AppFileRefDetails/1838083/0

I heard a rumour that the academy would be splitting back to Limerick/Cork. Maybe this is for that. Or maybe with the new main pitch too, they just plan to rent it out and make a much money from it as possible.

I know we don't have a game for a few weeks, but was there any injury update after SA?

That might make sense for the Academy alright.

I remember reading somewhere about them wanting a training facility for their age grade representative teams in cork to go along with the 3g pitch to be able to have them all training and playing they're games there.

Doubt it would be for the full time academy players as spltting between cities for them wont happen IMO but this would more be for u16-19 development squads etc and if necessary for senior squad when in cork

Yes, final rounds of AIL will be happening around that time so it depends on who the A teams bring over for the trip but some some clubs might be harder hit then others.

Do you think we'll (the 4 provinces) will make much out of it? I assumed it would be more a training camp with matches.
