I've a theory many won't bother voting tomorrow, they'll either assume MDH has it in the bag anyway (as we have been continually told) or they just cannot be bothered

Reckon casey voters will be out in force

Wasn't going voting til the "fiasco". 100% will now though. Don't care if he doesn't win either.

You'd be worried about the Irish with the Casey thing,.

If we are all being honest.

Some parts of the traveler community have serious issues with their behavior.

But - if we are honest, the diaspora thing is a load of bull****.

They are basically people who abandoned Ireland.

Ireland is a totally different county than their ideal.
Not even sure he should be able to put himself forward ?

The Americanisation of the word "liberal" is really annoying.

Ironically, a lot of the people who use it in that (incorrect) fashion probably profess to hate Americanisms.

I find Casey embarassing tbh. I'd hate for him to become our next president.

He targets the same darn easy targets, again, and again. And some bizarre ones, like dogs-it's something you'd expect to hear from some third world country.

    Not from Ireland.

Also planning to vote to abolish the blasphemy laws too.

Looking forward to voting Casey number 1 tomorrow. Time for a change, time to stick it to the usuals. MDH too old to work, rest of us forced to retire long before him. Casey the only man for the job really !

So people who emigrated during the 80s, 90, and in the last recession abandoned Ireland? I would argue that Ireland abandoned those people. We were happy to accept the money they sent home and ask them at Chridtmas “how long are you home for?” But we never afforded them the rights of representation. We called them plastic paddies from the UK or dumb Americans from the states. These are people that were forced to leave our country due to the mismanagement of the same political elites that are still in power.
We have turned our back on these people, through shame or embarrassment, however but for a quirk of history we could be in Denver rather than Dublin, Chicago rather than Cork or LA rather than Limerick.

Well, I hope Michael D is elected tomorrow; he is the best candidate on the ballot paper and that is what matters. People are dissatisfied with many elements of Irish life and politics but these issues are not on the ballot paper and there is no evidence that any of the other candidates has the ability, experience or qualifications to tackle those issues.

If some voters see the ballot as an opportunity to protest, it is possible we'll end up with another loud mouth business man who thinks he knows it all. Please don't let this happen.

Yes, Michael D has experience. 45 years experience of being highly paid to represent people. Does he deserve 7 more years and €2.067 million more?

In all that time he did nothing for Ireland except collect pensions.

I'll be voting for Casey for no other reason than he was not afraid to speak of the elephant in the room. Travelers and there self entitlement, social welfare lay abouts and there self entitlements. I didn't even no who the man was a month ago. Plus mdh is to old and is coming across as very greedy. Vote Casey. Time this country got tough with scroungers, criminals and the huge waste in the public and civil service.

I agree that he is embarrassing. He is also obviously a huge fan of his adopted home and I have no idea why any sane thinking person would want our head of State to take his cues from the most dysfunctional **** up of a country in the Western world.

Im looking forward to Saturday when results start rolling in.

I think Paddy Power is as in the dark as the rest of us as to how close PC is to MDH, and he is close IMO.

Ive money on PC at 100/1 and 12/1 WO MDH. The WO MDH bet is in the bag:cool:. Yesterday i thought there was no way PC would win, Now I'm not so sure.

A lot of imponderables. People not admitting they're voting for PC, 2nd preferences, low turnout favoring PC?

Roll on Saturday. Football and election results.

    .

We should have a good idea of resuots tonight with 2 exit polls.

It was so much easier to blame it on Them. It was bleakly depressing to think that They were Us. If it was Them, then nothing was anyone's fault. If it was us, what did that make Me? After all, I'm one of Us. I must be. I've certainly never thought of myself as one of Them. No one ever thinks of themselves as one of Them. We're always one of Us. It's Them that do the bad things.

    Becoz he speakz da truth.

I also doubt Casey had any intention of targeting any sane thinker. He picked his basic target market and appealed to them.

Actually, he has declined to take two pensions that he is fully entitled to take. Does that sound greedy to you?

Ya...so what, he was advised by officials, he took their advice and made a call...he does what politicians do...he gets well paid for it...best of luck to him...I'll repeat, it ain't public service! Unless you are suggesting he would have had a more lucrative career in the private sector!
Once again, that's your own personal, and slightly twisted definition of public service that you seem to have pulled out of your arse. Not everyone is obsessed with 'lucrative careers in the private sector'

What has Dragons Den got to do with this???? Why do you keep on about businessmen????? We are talking about MDH, not reality tv stars who run private businesses!!!

Perhaps you haven't noticed the three other candidates from the Dragons Den show?

I will be one of thousands of people who will vote Peter Casey today not because I know a whole pile about him but because where I live my family and so many others lives have been ruined by travellers robbing us .
It’s a huge issue in many parts of the country as there is either no Garda presence or the courts won’t deal with it . The main parties are ignoring it and Peter Casey is the only one calling out the carry on of travellers which is making living in many parts of this country hell .

7am!! Get out and VOTE PETER CASEY NO. 1!!!!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,220 ✭✭✭✭Danzy

Casey has pissed off a lot of the modern Priest Class of the modern Left and middle class.

That alone will get him a lot of votes.

That he is being told he can't say that will get extra votes.

3 Dragons and not a mention of those who robbed the country blind during the crash or stripped the country bare. Schools falling down while these wealthy men and women count their shekels probably having bets among themselves on who can con the Irish people enough to get the top state job.

    'Travellers, something something....

If you really think any of them will give up the salary on being elected then more fool you.

Casey is not the shining beacon of hope and change you and others want him to be.

Count their Shekels? Isn't that the currency of Israel? You do know that has racist undertones towards the Jews.

Is it casey? Didn't he say he would give his wages to local authorities?... A nice little sweetener for there support isn't it...

He’s on record stating that he will be going to county councils to be distributed to local charities/projects.

Mickey D’s will be going in his back pocket. Greed personified.

Do you give your salary to charity? No? Does that mean you’re greedy too?

Like I said you’re a fool if you believe for one second PC won’t take what he’s entitled to.

Giving up his salary is not admirable, stuff like that makes it only a job for multi millionaires.

I'll vote for Casey but in spite of things like that.
