So then men, the poor, the rural, the old (ie people who believe they are dispossessed) voted strongest for Casey while Higgy-baby was the opposite (women, younger, more urban and wealthier) and while the overall turnover is quite low his personal vote could be a record % of the cast vote.

Spoilt votes are a notable feature in Dublin according to RTE with "none of the above" featuring on many.

Virtually every student I know have loans, either themselves or by proxy, through their parents.

    Pedantic post is Pedantic.

I know many people, and their kids, working all hours to pay back CU loans they took out for college.
Indeed, but they're not 'school loans'. They don't get them from their school, like they do in UK or US. Just another measure of how distant Casey is from the reality of life for Irish people.
What’s the story with the pensions he doesn’t take? Our they now cancelled or (if he changed his mind next month), could he start collecting them? If he can start collecting them, does he only get the monthly value from then or can he collect the backdated. Can his wife collect these pensions upon his death?

    So many questions
Dunno tbh - but why don't you go do some digging and report back. Here's my guesses:
    • Can he start collecting them? Yeah, I'd guess so
    • If he does start, are they backdated? Probably not, based on the structure of public sector pensions
    • Can his wife collect them? Probably yeah.
MDH is very, very far from being a real socialist president like, say, José Mujica of Uruguay.
Yeah, it's great to see other pensions declining their pensions too. Maybe he got the idea from MDH?

And the spoilts beat poor Gavin in many constituencies. It's going to be hard selling that 'media training for politicians' given that performance.

Good to see the Irish electorate overwhelmingly endorsed the person who was obviously the most suited for the job of President.

I wonder what Casey supporters make of his comments this morning regarding letting the Travellers moving into Phoenix Park?

"I was going to suggest that we invite all of the Travelling community to move into the Phoenix Park for a five-year period"

Surely that directly contradicts his previous comments?

It confirms his position as a Trumpite troll - more interested in stirring things up for attention than actually doing anything constructive.

No he probably wants to see a reaction and whether Higgans and co. will take on this great initiative. Keep up.

Gonna start cleaning some of these threads up, Exit Poll (https://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?p=108469848#post108469848) serves the same purpose.
