Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I recently got hold of a remote control from someone's now defective Walker satellite-only box WP95SAT-HD ,
and tried it to see if it would control the Walker WP645TS-HD combo ? Yes it did - EXCEPT the all-important switching between terrestrial and satellite modes .

THe WP95SAT-HD's remote control has a 'MODE' button (which switches between both satellite modes on the original), but that button only switches between TV-only/Radio-only/ALL (TV and radio) modes when tried on the WP645TS

I have had the same experience with universal remotes I tried - they would control the WP645TS EXCEPT the switching between Terrestrial and the Sat modes ('OPT' button on original remote). Has anyone come across a universal remote for this box that would?

If not and you loose or break the original remote you are stuck in either Terrestrial or a satellite mode and cannot switch!

The box itself has 3 buttons on the front (on-off/up/down) but I am unaware of any 'trick' with those to make the box switch between Terrestrial and Sat modes (I tried pressing all 3 buttons together at once...no)

The original remote is working OK, but it would be good to have a quick fall-back if it goes missing or breaks. (you could use a 'learning' remote preprogrammed from the original just in case).

A one4all remote can be programmed to do any function on the origional, if you have the origional, the one4all has to be series 2 or 3.

Is this thread still active? I just got my hands on one of these and I tried to update the firmware using the ethernet in the back and it kept saying 'no internet connection available' even though it said it was good on the internet settings page...

So I resorted to using usb to update it and ended up like a few people here where it actually downgraded the thing from 4.0 to 3.2! I've tried downloading countless different files form different sources to update it again and it just won't read any of the files when I stick the usb in now...

This thing has me driven around the bend!

Edit - After 2 hours of crawling the internet I managed to get it to update to 3.8 by accident. Would love to know if anyone has found a way to get it to update back to 4.0 or higher!

I have the same problem as you how did you get from 3.2 to 3.8 I have lost free sat and it is not reading my usb thanks in advance

sorry to tell you but it's ****ed mate. I managed to get it to go back up to 3.8 but even then all the channels were still gone, you need 4.0 to get them channels back, my dad is raging over it and blames me for losing all his channels...

    Hi
Hope this forum still active, would appreciate any advice:)

We purchased a UHF aerial, satellite and Walker setup box WP95SAT-HD in June 2014, installed by professional installer, worked perfectly until Sunday 21/10/2018.
We are now getting a 'No Signal' message on the screen.
We have checked all the cables and the aerial etc, with no success accessing the UK stations.
Is there any procedure we can do ourselves before needing to call the professional installer back? [we are not tecky!]
We would appreciate any assistance, thank you.

Do you still have the Irish Station/Saorview? If you do maybe just try running a scan again for the satellite and see if the stations come in again - also maybe just check if you can see if your dish has moved.

Thanks adelcrosmel - will try that!

If my memory serves me correctly, the Walker 95sat receiver is Satellite only, you are probably using it for UK Satellite channels only, unless you have Saorsat (Irish free satellite channels), you don't use an aerial with the box.

I had one in the past and had some issues, I ended up binning it.

I would also get "no channels"

Disconnected the box for a day or two and on plugging in again it all worked perfect again, this happened a couple of times.

    I got sick of it.

However your issue may be the satellite connection.

It does both saorview and satellite.

@lmairead it could be a few things. The main three things that I would think are the problem is that the box has forgotten the satellite channels it had stored. So try the scan as suggested in a previous post. I know with a slightly different walker box, they had both a saorview, freesat and FTA option. Could be that the FTA option was never scanned and you were using the freesat option to get the British channels. If this were the case you could use the “opt” button to flip between modes. Again this is a guess as I don’t know if the box you have ever had this option.

Finally, it could also be that your satellite dishe has moved in the wind or a cable is disconnected. You could check this by using the signal tester that is usually somewhere in the setup menu in the device.

No looks like FRIENDO is right and it only does satellite - Lmairead asked about the WP95SAT-HD box and the thread is about the WP645TS-HD box which is a combo box and does both....think that's where the confusion has come from!

You’re right. I understood it was the WP95SAT-HD but the site I looked at said combo receiver and saorview approved. However another site says saorsat approved. The walker site itself is down.

If you have a spare satellite receiver, you could try it on the same connection to see if it works, as the issue could be the Walker box.

Otherwise the best option is to call an installer.

Have yopu tried unplugging it from the mains for 30 seconds, then plugging it back in again?

(I have an old Walker Saorview box, can't remember the model number, but it was the first one on the market) that occasionally locks up, and a power cycle sets it working again.

It's gotten to the stage that I use a remote control adaptor to do this - minimises the effort!

Just checked - the model number is WP10DTB

My Walker STB is stuck on initialising - I tried unplugging it but no luck. Any solution would be very welcomed.

I picked up one of these boxes on Freecycle. I have a problem with it, with Tuner Overload coming up on it and not being able to pick up some channels then. I read through all the posts here and I tried just installing the satfree channels with the terrestrial channels but it's still happening. It has version 4 of the firmware. Someone posted a link to v3.8 which I have downloaded.

Should I put version 3.8 on the box or would it make it worse? If I do I can't revert to version 4 as I don't have this file.

    Any advice appreciated.

Tuner overload suggests a short on the satellite cable, would the connector be on right? Ensure outer braid isn't touching the centre conductor.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,023 ✭✭✭adelcrowsmel

V4 never worked so 3.8 is the best version if you want FreeSat to kind of work on the box. It may freeze or be a little sticky but ok in general! If V4 is somehow working for you dont change it!!

We had one of these in work and when it updated to V4 we lost the SatFree option and couldn't revert to V3.8.

Thanks for the advice. I used to install satellite dishes so am happy with the install. I'm using a quad LNB with an aerial feed ( no amplification) into the quad LNB and inside the house the signals are separated with a diplexer. There are no problems with the other TVs fed from the dish.

The odd thing is that after about a half an hour the system settles down and works perfectly. I unplug it at night. Satellite and Satfree work then, no problems. On being plugged in Tuner Overload comes up on Satellite and some Sat Free channels. Terrestrial works perfectly all the time.

As I said previously I'm reluctant to put on v3.8 in case I make it worse.
