I can be very persuasive! Just kidding, car is advertised for €12K and would be hoping to pay €11k max

How well priced is it compared to similar cars being sold by other dealers? That will give you an idea of what it's true value is. I'd also consider going to the North or UK for one, the VRT is quite low on hybrids.

Yes, we're long overdue a BMW meetup.......

    Yes indeed.

I'm all for this idea as well! I vaguely remember that there used to be motors meets in Portlaoise once upon a time as that's easy enough to get to for most people, would somewhere around there work for people?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,875 ✭✭✭Foxhole Norman

Got my renewal for the 540i, €1,780, pretty much a full €300 off last year, looks like she's staying for the long term

No one else will even touch me on it, which is fair considering I'm only 24.

I just did a forum search for motors meets and I was brought to a photo in a thread where 2 people turned up. One of which has closed his/her account since. Perhaps this is why they were cancelled?

I'm a member of a couple of car clubs and we would generally have our meetups in Midway as it's handy spot just off the motorway and pretty central. There's even a fast charger for the EV owners amongst us! :o:p:pac::cool::P:D:D

The meets haven't been "cancelled" as such, just that they kind of died off.

If folks want an official one I can speak to the admins and get a thread going.

Motors @ Glendalough 2014, that was a great evening out. I can never go to a meet again encase it's less good than that one was.

    You'd the Glanza at that!

Think that was the last outing for the 406 before I stopped using it... :(

Woohoo! The insurance gods are on your side (I think at least!). Less money is a win.

    That's very inconsiderate.
There's no EV charging facility in Glendalough.

Can we have it before the end of September? My E36 will be tucked up for winter on the 1st of October. Don't think anybody would be pushed on my ragged and dirty S60.

I doubt the dealer will have too much trouble shifting a Yaris like that, I wouldn't be surprised if your offer is considered a bit on the low side. Now, this is one of those questions that there's no definite answer until you ask... so worth a shot, but don't get the hopes too high is all I'll say.
If it makes you feel any better, I have a pal who paid cash up front for a brand new 911. The dealer, quite a busy one refused any discount at all, and just told him if he didn't want it he'd sell it to someone else. The dealers are more interested in selling finance. He was, quite seriously told that they'd throw in a couple of mats.

There is no discount on Porsche - I didn't get a single cent on the 2 supplied this year.

That 911 GT3RS is a cracker. Saw it at mondello a few weeks ago

Depending on who is interested in going and where it's going to be on, towards the of September is probably a better time to have it - Cars and Coffee is the first Sunday for Dublin and Limerick and the second Sunday for Cork.

I know I can't do the first weekend in September anyway.

The Limerick cars and coffee might actually be a good one as it tends to be big anyway.

My car services always seem to fall due at the most inconvient times. Was reading service in 1800km last week down to 300km this evening actually done a lot of driving in the last week will be at least 2 weeks at this stage before I get to it doesn’t help the dealer is 2 hours away and are only Mon to Fri set up.

Would the manufacturer look at it as very negative if you run over a service by 1-2k km if you had a warranty claim or would they care in general ?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,086 ✭✭✭GustavoFring

Would you not just get it done in Kilkenny instead of Wexford?

Kilkenny place is a bit meh well it’s not a real Audi dealer either. I could go to Waterford thats less than an hour away really no matter where I go I will need to take time off to get it done. Warranty is up on it next year so will probably just go to George with it from then on.

Misjudged a nasty speed ramp today, now there is what I can only describe as a noticeable (to me) but small bobble feeling from the front of the car that wasn't there before. I know I'm probably a bit sensitive to it now but the car doesn't feel as smooth on good roads as it was up to that point. Any ideas? I'm thinking maybe a damaged front track rod?

I think I'm looking at something similar in mine due to a pothole and runflats on 19" alloys. I was told by a tech in Morrisons after a quick look while getting other work done that it's a goosed damper which in my case means c. €400 for the part alone as my car has the active damper system with sensors all over the thing :(

Have it booked in for a thorough check next week.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,445 ✭✭✭Wailin

Could it be as simple as a buckled alloy? Those 19" alloys are very susceptible to buckles and cracks.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 51,580 ✭✭✭✭bazz26

Ouch! I don't have active dampers on mine but I'm convinced that the suspension certainly doesn't feel right. I'll take a look at the rims and tyres tomorrow but I didn't get that sort of impact feeling from when the car met the speed ramp.
