Tell me more about the Da Vinci masterpiece you're going to resemble when you're in your 80s. At least people with tattoos will have something interesting to look at other than liver spots.

Your health or whether your pension will be enough to live on is not going to be a worry. Nope, it'll be tattoos

I am baffled by people who think its a good thing to look down on someone . Be it looking down tattoos or whatever its never a good look to be a judgmental person

Most gay porn actors have fairly good shoulder and arm tattoos.

I'll be doing well to reach my 40s so I guess I don't have to worry about my tattoo getting saggy :p

When I see a woman with a tattoo on her thigh, I don't know what it is but it makes me fizz.

Nearly twenty years ago now, living in england, I had a tattoo of my own designing put on me. It says:

There's A Rising Tide Of Shɪt

Any troll trying to look down on me now? Pfftt! Flotsam in the tide ;)

I Am The Prophet! I was right! :D

In the words of a famous tattoo artist "I'd be more worried about being able to wipe my own arse than what my tattoo's look like when I'm 80"

Honestly... such drivel being spouted here . A tattoo is not a definition of character, it does not define who the person is or how good they are at their job . It does not mean you cannot progress in your career . It simply means you like having ink on your skin . Narrow mindedness is rife here .

    I disagree.

It does define you are someone who has a tattoo. (if visible, that can be a limiting factor in your career - whether you agree with that or not).

It does not simply mean you like 'having ink on your skin' - it means that you have chosen to decorate your skin permanently with whatever design you have.

You are making a statement. That is defining (if it wasnt, people would just get meaningless ink blots on their skin).

When someone gets a tattoo of an eagle, or a chinese symbol, or a warrior, or whatever, they are trying to communicate something about themselves.

In my opinion, thats a very shortsighted thing to do. My 25 year old self was a lot different to the person I am today. I shudder to think what I could have ended up with as a tattoo from then!

No, that's not what the OP is saying, you're just extrapolating.

People do get tattoos visible or otherwise for themselves but the truth is most tattooed people like how narrow minded people like the OP get wound up. It's certainly a handy filtration system. And anyway, what's wrong with liking positive feedback? If I get a new dress or shoes it's for myself but if someone passes positive feedback there's no harm in enjoying that.

You like to assume things about others and their reactions and judge them the same thing you are accusing them of. The difference is you are doing it intentionally.

Not everybody gets a tattoo for that reason but I don't think either side are wrong about the other just not all.

No it doesn't. Tattoos are so much accepted nowadays that it doesn't hinder a career unless the employer is a small minded person.
It does not simply mean you like 'having ink on your skin' - it means that you have chosen to decorate your skin permanently with whatever design you have.
I'm sorry to break your untattooed bubble but that's exactly what it is.

No they're not. They're getting a design because they like it.
Not one of my tattoo's have a meaning. They are there because I liked the look of it.
Why can people not understand that it is actually that simple?

Newsflash from Hellrazer: There are no small minded employers out there.

Small minded employers might not like the look of people for a multitude of other reasons, not just tattoos

There are less and less small minded employers and the reality is an employer who prepared to judge someone on the basis of tattooing is probably not worth working for.
Like it or not tattooing is becoming more and more accepted in the a variety of work places.

Thats right. To posit that employers dont judge candidates from their appearance is completely stupid.

Plenty of employers out there who have no problems with tattoos.
We've moved on from the 1900s

I know what he wrote. The point is that there are plenty of emplyers who would not be happy to employ people with conspicuous tattoos.

I am not judging them. Its just a fact.
