Standard have definitely increased timewise. I used to get nearly all my amazon stuff in 2 days but its now taking longer.
    Now I know why.
And for my recent order one of the items even though its a prime item will still take 4 days to arrive as opposed to 2 days for the other items.

It certainly looks like they had a strategy in place to get customers onto prime by slowing down the free delivery

Off topic, but what :D?! Surely it's cheaper, easier and better to just buy them from your nearest shop?

Nope. Barry's is slightly cheaper to buy from Amazon (esp the larger volumes) - Blended in Cork, shipped to the UK and back again (with free postage). Go figure.

I've only ever bought it from Amazon for relatives in England though....

Does An Post do most deliveries for Amazon?
Most of my Free delivery's for >25 quid spend come with An Post. But I have had a few courier delivery's too.

I have been using Amazon Prime with Parcel motel for the past while but I've found recently that they have started splitting the orders even though I bought them from the same suppliers etc.. Makes getting small items less cost effective when you have to pay for 2 Parcel motels. With this I wont need parcel motel as much so should save a few more quid..

I wonder if this means amazon.co.uk will be unaffected by Brexit issues? I know they have a huge warehouse here. Anyone know how that's going to pan out for us as amazon customers?

Not to speculate, but have Amazon been slowing free delivery dispatch in order to encourage people to pay for Prime?

Obviously & I suspect it will get worse. I have switched to ebay for some items where Amazon are quoting long deliveries

It really isnt, the vast majority of shops in Ireland are yet to experience any stiff competition, especially from an online competitor. This can only be a good thing and give them the kick up the arse they need. I dont know how the likes of Dunnes Stores can get away without even having an online groceries store in 2018!

    Get away with it?

They just run the stores how they want

    Also...
Do Prime deliveries require a signature and you to be home in order to get it?

Top spot last 3 years in market share if im not mistaken

    This prime is not cheap

You'd want to be doing a good bit of business with them

They just put me on prime free for a month and I'm getting this priority delivery at the moment. It certainly looks like a ruse to get customers into prime

Are you able to order spirits through Amazon Pantry? It might be a cheap way of grabbing a few bottles if they deliver to Ireland.

This is a bad day for Irish retail.

And a great day for the Irish consumer. A win-win to me ;)

A lot of people in Ireland already have Amazon Prime and use PM etc. to get it in 2 days (one day delivery + one day with PM) if they need something in a hurry.

I get next day using Prime with Parcel Motel as it is.

How does PM work out with Amazon splitting deliveries?

Do you order one item at a time and why do you use PM,Is it because you're out for deliveries?

I'm never home during the day. Deliveries are split depending where you're ordering from.

Doesn't An Post do some sort of a physical mailbox if you're out?

Might be useful although they're not guaranteed to use An Post all the time either

Very happy to see this. I hope all of the 2 day priority shipping deliveries are by An Post and include Saturday delivery!

I hope folks can report back which company delivers their prime packages when they order.

I don’t have Amazon Prime. Ordered a Breville Blender at 2pm on Wednesday the 27th and it was delivered to my Irish residential address Friday morning the 29th. I chose the free delivery option which estimated 4th - 5th July.

Maybe I just got lucky but with that fast turnaround time for free I wouldn’t be too pushed to pay for Prime.

It's expensive (70quid plus you have to install it yourself) and tiny. PM is far handier and quicker. Just get a text when your delivery is in your pm locker and you can collect it anytime for 48 hours.

And what if Amazon splits up the order?

    £75 a year

It's still quite a lot depending how much you're using it over the year

How do you get student prime in Ireland?

That fire TV stick I got still won't work. I just signed up and thought I could watch stuff on my TV stick. If it's not officially available in Ireland you're goosed.

Only thing to do is sideload it.

You'll probably have to commit fraud and give a UK address and a phoney student number. I guess if you know an Irish person studying in the uk it could work

    Nope.
To sign up for and use Prime Student, you must (1) have an Amazon.co.uk account, (2) be aged 18 years or older, (3) be a student enrolled in a higher education institution geographically located in the United Kingdom, (4) be able to provide proof of enrolment upon request, and (5) have a valid academic e-mail address that contains the domain suffix .ac.uk
