Last night was an absolute smasher. Warm dry bright calm. I haven’t enjoyed a spell of weather like this in a while. The weekend was a bit disappointing although the thunder etc was brilliant. Hopefully this heat will last over the long weekend.

After a clear night with a bright moon, this morning has 360 degree blue skies and already 16 degrees in Cork City. Long may it last! Love the feeling of walking out of the house into a blast of heat , reminds me of Spain.

Heaviest fog I have seen in a long time this morning. Hopefully it burns off fairly soon

Going to be tricky with showers being hit and miss but I'd say you could see a fair bit fall today and Thursday so Friday on-wards might be best bet.

Mostly misty here this morning with some sunny spells.

    High sunshine totals from yesterday.

    Station|Sunshine total (hours)
    Malin Head|15.4
    Dublin Airport|15.1
    Johnstown Castle|15.0

Yesterday was Dublin Airport's sunniest day since July 17th of last year.

Already 19c at Mace Head at 08:00.

    Data comes from Met Éireann.

This must be up there with the warmest and dryest may in recent years?

very nice morning here so far, perhaps a wee bit cooler than this time yesterday. Currently 17C.

Looks like it could turn fairly unsettled from Thursday onward, but remaining warm.

Dublin set to be the coolest location once again, along with other Eastern coastal areas.

I love sunshine but christ, 19/20 degrees and a stinker of an east breeze has me begging for a pattern change. GFS is an endless loop of high pressure re-establishing itself to our North dragging back in an east wind. No thanks :(

Long may it continue for further inland and out West though! Looking on at 23 degree temperatures at 11am with jealousy!

EDIT: I wonder how high it will get today. Any guesses? I'm going to say 26/27 degrees at either Newport, Mt.Dillon, Markree or perhaps Belmullet as that's the current top.

Tuam Co Galway 28/05/18IMAG3316_zpsayjpbiyb.jpgit's going to be 26°c today

yep and today is several degrees cooler than yesterday along the east coast yet again. Currently 19C here, which is a nice temperature but it was 21C this time yesterday and it made close to 23C yesterday. Today I reckon the max along the east coast will be 20/21C.

Much of England and particularly Scotland has really cooled down as well. Thursday and Friday are going to be quite cool here I think with plenty of cloud and showers around, so very similar to last weekend. With the current setup I don't see temperatures along the east rising much above 22C at any stage over the next week or so.

I would really like a much more southerly based wind to develop, rather than easterly.

Clouding over now here in Cork City, part of these potential thundery down pours I guess. Hopefully it just burns off :( when the sun is out it's scorching!

When I feel irritated about the NE breeze I open sat24 and look at E England and Scotland - now that would be a complete nightmare. At least we have unbroken sunshine here! Also, the cooling effect of the breeze has somewhat decreased due to higher ssts here compared to a few weeks ago. In any case I'm craving a nice SSW wind or any offshore wind coupled with settled conditions. I think thats the only way I can get proper warm temps at my location (over 22 degrees).

Belmullet and Newport leading the way at 12pm with 24 degrees. Several others at 23 degrees.

Agree with you there Pat. While an E/NE wind keeps it abit cooler here it is typically a very sunny setup.

More thunderstorms in the SE of the UK currently.

the wind really taking the edge of the warmth here, but once in a suntrap it feels pleasantly warm. it's just reached 20C here now but feels cooler.

Some serious looking rain over the London area right now.

Yeah the pictures coming out of Kent are atrocious. Of course the avid weather enthusiast would be jealous.
