    What's this now?

Viking Therapeutics. Biotech company for endocrine and metabolic diseases. Have one drug in stage 2 clinical trials. Posted their Q1 financial results yesterday and the share price went up 8%. If the drug makes it to market it'll be a serious win. Then again it might not.

It doesn't really matter. For ease of understanding euro is probably easier.
The stocks should be the same price on all exchanges after currency conversion. The days of arbitrage are mostly over.

Anyone looking at VKTX? Looks like it could be a real growth stock.

Thanks, do you know if Frankfurt exchange fee
is 7.50e for transactions in stocks as well as etfs. I know Australian fee is 10e but I had thought that Frankfurt had a lower fee than 7.50 for stocks.

I hadn't heard of VKTX until now. There are other Pharma stocks recommended in the Forbes Top 50 stocks for 2018 if your interested. I think the link for Forbes is on the first page of the thread.

Can anyone explain why Tawana is listed on Frankfurt Exchange as
TJR / AU000000TAW7 and TAW / AU000000TAW7 on the Australian Exchange

Also can anyone clearup whether US ETFs can be purchased by Irish customers on Degiro and if so can they recommend some.

    Thank you

    Just different ticker symbols.

You can only buy EU domiciled versions of US ETFs on Degiro from Ireland or any EU country.

I used to be able to buy #SQQQ on DeGiro, they seemed to have stopped making it available.

Was reading an article about how the us is on the verge of loosening gambling laws, firdt in new jersey but the expectation is that a number of states will then follow. William hill and paddypower/betfair are both primed to take advantage, having books in racecourses there and also contacts with some local casinos. Both stocks have dropped 10-20% in the past week, may take a punt on one or both for a long game punt. With the wc in the summer as well, both companies will see a lot of activity.

    Good call

    Hi,

    A few brief thoughts....
    • recent changes in leadership / senior management may take time to bed in.
    • Online gambling is a fairly mature market, with limited prospects for new customers in existing geographic sectors, so they rely more on existing customers for repeat betting and appear in need of offering regular promotions to try and retain these customers. I struggle to see the company grow significantly without further merger / acquisition, or entry to new geographic markets.
    • Plenty of top sports like the Masters, closing stages of the Champions League and Premier League, World Cup this summer etc. offer great potential for revenue, but obviously bets could go in favour or against the business, resulting in notable profits or losses on these sports events.
    • Uncertainty about Brexit, risk of currency movements between GBP£ and Euro, possible taxes on betting, and potential changes in legislation relating to gambling etc. cannot be ignored.

I think I'd like to see the price drop a bit further before I'm consider buying, but that's just based on my gut, not detailed calculations. Share prices often drop off a bit during the summer period, while the company's success or failure from customers gambling on the World Cup probably won't be known until August - Sept, so early to mid summer could be a time to buy ?

    .

A fairly volatile few weeks for PPB since the above! Earnings not as expected, FOBT worries in the UK and then a large bounce in SP based on the supreme court ruling in the states this morning!

    Yup.

The World Cup and to a lesser extent, the Champions League Final will keep them busy for part of the summer... but like all sports events, they can be good or bad for the bookies.

I think online betting has become a mature market, not sure where their next "big thing" is going to come from, unless it's another acquisition / merger, that perhaps takes them into a new territory or something.

    Thanks,

    G.

Ormonde Mining have been trundling along at about 1.5-2 but have seen a lot of growth lately. They are poised to start digging tungsten in Q3 and market prices are looking good. Currently 3.69. It is very volatile, though. Long term there is potential for high growth.

Fking hell! Up 62% now. Fair play for getting in on the ground level there. What led to the price increase I wonder?

Competitor released findings on their drug that works using a similar mechanism.

Decided to buy some Glanbia shares @ €13.59.

Seeing some nice gains on this now, will look to cash out at €16 I think.

Is there any reason to sell microsoft if you don't have to. It's one of those buy and forget about it shares I reckon.

SNAP!!! Bought a traunche of Glanbia myself at around that same price a while back too. Its been motoring along nicely ever since. (Although today has seen a bit of a setback -1%). Imagine where the share price could go if all the shorting was to stop. (Its easily the most shorted stock on the ISEQ over the past 12 months)

Anyone else tempted by NZC on the ASX trading at AUD$ 0.26 at the moment and Copper prices starting to rebound? SP was AUD$ 0.38 a couple of months ago.

I initially thought that was a joke, but he'd forgotten to put a smiley at the end of it.... can't believe it's for real (or that it's even allowed here).

    Thanks,
