How many places up for grabs and how many expected applicants? I've thrown my hat in the ring as I'm 30 years old and regardless of whether I get this or not the plan is to be flying commercially by 35 years of age and always has been. At the moment out in Oz working in Finance but I would give it all up and be back home in a heartbeat for this opportunity.

Best of luck to everyone applying.

Pretty similar circumstances myself, apqrt from being in Australia.

Judging on past years, I'd estimate between 10-12 places. FTE Jerez keeps class numbers small.
Expect in excess of 4,000 applications minimum.

Best of luck to you also !

p.s. the group assessment stage is in Dublin at the end of July

Hi all was wondering if most are sending in a cover letter or just the CV, going from previous years I am assuming they are only looked at after the assessment stages?

What stage will the tests be sent out? Hardly a need for a cover letter.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 58 ✭✭gav4321

Applications closed on Sunday I believe. Any idea on when the emails will go out for the next stage?

I logged in this morning to my aer lingus account and the status is currently 'Invite to pre selection online test'. I haven't received anything yet however, so I emailed the recruitment team and they advised the following:

    Hi Sarah,

Details will be sent onto you in due course.

Anyone any idea on salary ranges for EI pilots. Hard to gather based on what's on the internet. It's not the glamorous job it used to be

Salary put me off alright, heard you qualify for social welfare assistance.

Anyone else getting a message saying that the online test has already been completed when you try and open it?

I have created this post to help each other out for people that applied for Aerlingus future pilot training programme 2018.
I have got 2 online assessment to do from Aerlingus. 1st one about personality questionnaire and 2nd about the role and short video interview. Has to be done on 20th May before 12pm.
How do I prepare for this? Any sources to help?

    Starting is mid 40s.

Retiring will be well into 100ks

Thats just your salary, theres add ons too.

They sent out an email with a new link for the online assessment.

Haven't done the assessments yet but does anyone know what the "short interview video" is?

    Thanks!

From the link above, they are just basic salary figures. 30K gross per year can be added on for sector pay and performance pay. Those pension figures are amazing. What is the retirement age?

Youve probably seen it by now, but there's already a forum for the current competition. https://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2057862984

Not yet, and I can't imagine anyone is going to discuss it here until the application closes on Sunday for the sake of an even playing field.

I did it before and I remember it being quite tough, you see the question for 15 seconds and the camera comes on you for 2 min. Quite difficult

We can all hope can't we!! Cheers for the info on the way it works though :)

Following on from the question of salary. A recently signed off pay rise will give a pilot with 26 years service assuming you hold command a basic salary of €201k before all other generous add ons. Retirement age is 60 with an option to continue to 65 if you wish.

Your expensive training is paid for in an era where similar opportunities are limited. You are also at the very start of a new career. I’m not sure what some people expect!

Its a great opportunity for anyone interested in getting into the industry and will be well over subscribed.

Haven’t done it yet but if you look at thread from last selection process you’ll have an idea. Going to do mine on Saturday.. dread it. Did the online assessments today. Good luck 😬

To anyone who has done the online assessment, is a mouse needed?
Can it be done on a laptop track pad?

Laptop track pad works fine.. think it’s actually easier than using the mouse..

Done all of my tests tonight and the video interview. Questions quite straight forward but the camera setup got me a little bit.

    Good luck to all
