TO was a huge issue in the locker room but he bust his ass on the field and always gave 100% I always thought him and moss where interesting in that moss was never really a locker room problem by all accounts but sometimes he was going through the motions on the field

I'm watching NFL honours on the NFL network and the host ripping the piss out of Ben mcadoo made me laugh and forget about how long a day this will be.

Hang on TO didn't show up to the NFL honours after he was inducted ? That's poor form.

Brilliant to see Brian dawkins where he belongs in canton. And then there is ray Lewis.

Scott McCloughan's going to the Browns as a 'draft' consultant. Might mean they don't feck up their draft for once.

TO has made the Hall of Fame.

    About ****ing time.

    Richly deserved.

I remember being mocked as 'drunk or on drugs' when saying he was deserving last year! :D

I think the gun maybe got jumped a little on Urlacher this year, nothing against him whatsoever (I've actually got immense respect for how much of a pain in the ass he was for Favre/Rodgers and along with Hester was always the player I was most envious of the Bears having) and might have leaned a bit more towards Faneca, Hutchinson or Mawae - but not a big issue. I'm also entirely unfamiliar with Everson Walls but having read up on him a bit over the week, he had a decent shout too (and it was his last year before going through the seniors route)

Otherwise I think they nailed it - Moss and Lewis were slam dunks in the way multiple time all pro QBs usually are, Dawkins on top of being an excellent pro/ambassador type is the third best safety I've ever seen, and only very marginally behind Reed/Polamalu who may well be the best two to ever play the position and who got it done so consistently for so long. Owens had the issue that he was slightly overshadowed by Moss being a human highlight reel maybe only matched by Barry Sanders in the history of the game but he is behind only Rice for yards, Moss/Rice for TDs, and is 8th for total receptions The guy was a headache and at times even a locker room cancer, but on the field he was unreal and the most unstoppable pass catching threat I've seen outside of Moss, Gronk and Antonio Brown (who if he keeps it up into his mid/late 30s - a big ask, granted - I think might even have a chance of overtaking Rice as the GOAT receiver, but then again I'm an unashamed Brown/Bell fanboy).

That safety convo is very interesting I think reeds clear no.1 but I'd put Dawkins clear no. 2 I have hear others put polamalu 2

Also watched the Two Bills 30 for 30 on YouTube earlier. Excellent show that I think most would enjoy.

On mobile so linking is a pain, but its easy to find anyway.

Looking ahead to next season and I think we may start to see some teams get a lot more aggressive on 4th downs given the success the Eagles have had and the ballsy calls from Pederson throughout the year.

You’ll always have the same old dinosaurs given the nature of the league, but with the new guard coming in I think in the coming years we will see it become almost commonplace to go for it on 4th.

I agree, looking at last year's Superbowl, or watching John Fox all year (not recommended), you realise how damaging conservative playcalling can be.

Aggressive playcalling is fine if you have the OL and all the pieces to be more likely to succeed on the play. There are not many teams in that position.

Todd Bowles is the same, he would have punted on 3rd down last night, nevermind going for it on 4th!

Apparently copied from Bears play from 2016.....
Reich told me the kernel of the idea originated from an industrious Eagles quality-control coach, Press Taylor. Said Reich: “Press has this, what we call this vault of trick plays. It's an immense vault, so every week we go into Press's vault looking for plays.” Taylor, it appears, found the play in a meaningless Week 17 game in 2016. At 1:10 this morning, The MMQB’s Kalyn Kahler found a play from the Chicago-Minnesota game that doubtless led to Target left bunch, Philly special. Bears running back Jeremy Langford took a direct snap from center, quarterback Matt Barkley lined up behind the right tackle, and wideout Cam Meredith circled back behind Langford and took a pitch from him. Barkley leaked out of the backfield into the end zone. No one covered him. At the 11-yard line, Meredith tossed the ball to Barkley, two yards deep in the end zone. Touchdown. Watch that play and keep it in mind. You’ll need it. “We’re fine with ideas coming from anywhere,” Reich said. “Doug loves ideas.”

I read about that this morning on wcg, we have had a few good truck plays the last couple of years on ST and under loggains on O, but the general tenor of the play calling has been to strangle any creativity. But it was pretty cool to know the Bears had some little input into that win (along with letting Jeffery walk out the door).

    From that article
“Playing quarterback, watching a lot of teams, a lot of football,” he said. “You learn if you play passive, if you play conservative, if you call plays conservatively, you are going to be 8-8, 9-7 every year. Every year. Frank and I just having that collaborative spirit to talk about things and talk with our quarterbacks and just come up with ways of keeping this game fresh and fun and exciting for our players. And that's really where it all stems from.”

Being passive was exactly what caused the Jags to come undone against the Pats.

Whole thing is a good read though.

Chris Long has won more games (33) in the last two season then he did in first 7 years of his career with the Rams (32)

    The Jeff Fisher effect.

As expected Josh McDaniels has been named HC of the Colts.

Fair play to Jim Irsay, paying for the funerals of Edwin Jackson and his Uber driver. I know it's only small change to him but he's had a lot of bad press over the years so it's only right that he gets some credit for this.

Jesus, the Colts had officially announced it and everything.

What the hell is going on in New England?

They must have thrown some sort of offer at him as Jerry Schuplinski only decided to leave in the last 24 hours which would suggest the Pats convinced Josh to stay today
