After having to pull out of the half after 4 miles with hamstring trouble, I've had a difficult few weeks trying to recover and regain fitness. Had a 12 mile run/fitness test yesterday and came through it unscathed taking in the last 10 miles of DCM course.

So happy to be making the start line this year after missing the last 4 years due to injuries of one sort or another. I'm getting emotional even thinking about it. The marathon can do that to you.

Wow well done on perseverance! You deserve a medal for that alone. I have had injury struggles this year and it's my first year and i'm already thinking that if i don't make it this year that i couldn't put myself through the roller coaster again  Hats off to you. And i really wish you the best for next Sunday, you deserve to have a fantastic run :)

Thanks for the kind words. The encouragement and sound advice received on this forum over the years has kept me going!

Best of luck to you both too! Hope you make the start line Ariana.

    Right.
Now you have an idea of the weather.

Not feeling the love and overweight so it's a gamble.

That's what I've been training for so we'll see how it comes together on the day.

I'm still a bit undecided on pacing. Not bothered about securing a time as have London GFA secured for until 2019, have dreams of getting close to a sub 2:45, don't think I can do it just yet...but going out at that pace and proving to myself how far behind I am may be useful for between now an April... or I go out at a "safer" pace and come in low 2:50's but then wonder what if?

Pretty sure if the weather is fine and not windy I'll just go off at silly speed and hang on for as long as possible, then drag myself over the line 10 minutes behind schedule.

Well, yes, and here we are again. This time I won't repeat the mistake of Berlin: I have a B and a C target (sub-3:20 will get me a London GFA for 2019)

Weather permitting, I'll have a decent crack at the A, though.

That crowd should all run together to Halfway and then see what happens. I'd watch that on the telly.

What about your target Opus. Don't be coy, boy.

    EDIT: Just spotted.

When's the next sub 3 planned for?

Might as well stick in here too. Although that's my goal time. I predict I'll go slower.

ISOP evidently updated the table while I was doing similar, so I just added myself back in.

Any idea how many splits they'll have on the tracker this year? Last year was 10k, half, 30k. Just wondering if they're going to push it to 5k splits.

Uncharted territory for me beyond 20 miles, have trained for sub 4 so I'm quietly confident, but who knows.

Ran 4:14 in Limerick this year, training has been patchy, picked up a virus a few weeks back but am feeling fresher now aiming for 4:10 but happy if inside the 4:14.

They've had timing mats at those points for years, I'd be surprised if anything changes

Good luck to everyone doing this....been a while since I've done a marathon and don't know when/if I'll do one again so I'm a little envious of you guys this week.

Enjoy the taper madness and run strong and long on the big day

Thought they may have "found" a few spare mats when they added them to the race series events :)
