Did one of those have a UK reg?

It'd mean more trouble for the owner if it did, which would be terrible.

    +1
There could have been anyone on the path.
I've seen the video with sound on youtube and it's laudable but ridiculous the way the driver is trying to say the clutch slipped. Clearly he lost control when showing off. At least man up and accept the outcome of a stupid choice you made.

    Batman seems fine with Donuts.

No real sympathy for them to be honest but I do think the speed limiter is OTT and considering there was no speed involved it seems ridiculous however I'm from Donegal and the junction 100m from my home is a reknowned spot for diffing as they have 4 escape roads to use. I'd welcome the same justice doled out to those caught up here.

What happens if you're the innocent party who comes around a bend on a county road and is hit by one of these fools? It's not just the donuts it's also their driving in general. They take on every trip as if they were driving in the WRC.The amount of crashes down my way since the recession has ended has sky rocketed. Many go unreported but we hear about how so and so's young lad wrote his car off.Only a few weeks ago 6 lads were in one car that ploughed through a ditch as he raced along a narrow, windy road and couldn't take a bend. Pure luck dictated that they all made it out alive.

Where did I mention country roads? Yes doing donuts in a stupid place like a blind bend is obviously dangerous but so is baking a cake on a blind bend.

You are stereotyping to an extreme degree with that statement. I know plenty of people who've been into that kind of craic and none of them would be hard drivers in general. Racing along a narrow road at speed and doing donuts on a wide open road barely moving is totally different.

Eh..the donkey standing in the middle of the two cars?
I suppose you're going to argue that the two boyios couldn't possibly lose control!

No I'm not going they "couldn't" lose control but in all honesty it's quite unlikely, these two heroes have been "diffin" for years and once you've done it a few times it's actually very easy to control. It's one of the few things with cars that looks a lot harder than it is.

I don't know either of these two but I do know the type; tin can heads is the affectionate name people use for them. They all absolutely love underpowered family cars from the 80s and they have all been fascinated by going round and round in circles since the age of 13 in a scrap Beemer on daddy's slab at home. They could honestly do it all day long without hitting anything, not that that's anything to be proud of.

I only commented because I hate the crazed rhetoric that pops up every time this stuff is mentioned. From a quick glance at the vid they were at it on top of molls gap where it has been happening every rally day for as long as I can remember, a few years iv been up there and the gaurds would be down at the restraunt 500m away letting them at it.

Underpowered? Get yourself a spin in a type r and get back to me.

Owned a few of them in the past, currently drive a 400+ brake r33.??

I'm specifically talking about twin cams, I haven't yet seen someone doing rings in an ek9...

The issue isn't the donuts per se - it's the stupidity of doing them on the public road.

Ooohhh someone needs to be their Type R history again...

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Honda_Type_R

Type R models were introduced in the 90's , not the 80's.

I can kinda see your point there buuut I would mention that if that is is taken where I think it was then the road is effectively closed just so lads can do rings there. And in general I don't see much harm in lads doing rings on empty crossroads in the middle of the night. Remember these lads have a fortune in the cars they own eg a good twin cam ~12k at least to buy. That combined with not wanting to be caught means they generally won't be doing rings on blind corners, that's not to say some don't but those clowns are hopeless anyways.

Sure - should be penalised when doing in public busy place, but what harm is it, if lads find a rural spot at night where no one is going to be around anyway?

Fines of €3500 seems crazy for what it is - just few lads playing, learning skills, and risking damaging their wheels or suspension when hitting the kerb... nothing more.

It's not as bad as people think.

Is that not the same thinking behind "sure a few drinks and drive home for the lonely farmer on quiet roads is grand"?

Just because they stump up over the odds for a Twincam, doesn't make them immune to ****wittery.

You did say underpowered family cars. Don't think a coupe is a family car.

    Nice motor btw.

I'm aware of that. Didn't read the 80s part or misread it. Still, nice boxy vtec hs available in late 80s

They couldn't even wear a suit jacket to court, smaller lad is the stereotypical chap you'd imagine nonchalantly doing rings with a cigarette stuck to his bottom lip in his yellow plated 86 DL red over black twincam.

I'd never condone baking on a bend :)

Whatever about the rest of the country, down my way there's a special kind of stupid using the roads every night. Plus, who in their right mind considers doing donuts on a bloody motorway? Some even think it's 'a bit of craic' harassing other road users. The one thing is none of these lads are from the town, all are country chaps. That seems like a generalisation but its true.Even as I type this, one 18 yr old I know could lose a leg due to his dangerous driving at the weekend.A high price to pay for having the craic.

    Not at all the same.

If your doing donuts, skids etc in isolated rural place, ideally parking or some other open area, there won'tt be anyone around. And if someone else is approaching then you'll see him and can stop doing what you're doing in advance.

If you're driving drunk, then you might meet other traffic and will have deal with it which might be difficult when drunk.

So what's wrong if I decide to take a bend with powerslide or skid?
Assuming it's an area with perfect visibility and can be seen there's no one around?

Why is it stupid if no harm can be made to anyone?

Because some Gob****e could record it, put it on youtube and then you get done for a 3500 euros fine.

If you are drinking in an isolated rural place, ideally in a pub on a straight run home, there won't be anyone around. And if someone else is approaching then you'll see him and can stop driving in advance.

    It's the very same argument.

What happens when Johnny is racing to meet Jacinta in ****knowswhere and meets Darren doing rings?

Does all the rubber disappear of the road? Does it affect grip of other users in ****e weather?

Well doing ANYTHING is dangerous if you do it in the wrong place. It's about as logical as mentioning someone who crashed at speed in a thread about slowly doing donuts.

    1/. It's illegal.
    2/. It's dangerous.
3/. No such thing as perfect visibility.
    4/. You aren't the world's best driver.
    5/. Chance of mechanical failure.
    6/. It's stupid.

I could go on but won't.
