Some sting for these two doughnuts with a €3.5k fine each and a limiter to be fitted to their cars to a max of 100km per hour. I think the limiter is a bit of an overkill, it actually could be dangerous in some situations such as safe overtaking and such but the fine might deter others in future. The Garda in question must have had a real bee in his bonnet about catching these lads as he tracked them down via facebook.

I know a few people living outside Killarney and they basically have to say goodbye to sleep whenever the lakes are on because of these clowns. I've no problem with drifting or doing donuts, I've been known to try it once of twice myself but not on a public road ffs.

I've seen the video with sound on youtube and it's laudable but ridiculous the way the driver is trying to say the clutch slipped. Clearly he lost control when showing off. At least man up and accept the outcome of a stupid choice you made.

No real sympathy for them to be honest but I do think the speed limiter is OTT and considering there was no speed involved it seems ridiculous however I'm from Donegal and the junction 100m from my home is a reknowned spot for diffing as they have 4 escape roads to use. I'd welcome the same justice doled out to those caught up here.

No I'm not going they "couldn't" lose control but in all honesty it's quite unlikely, these two heroes have been "diffin" for years and once you've done it a few times it's actually very easy to control. It's one of the few things with cars that looks a lot harder than it is.

I don't know either of these two but I do know the type; tin can heads is the affectionate name people use for them. They all absolutely love underpowered family cars from the 80s and they have all been fascinated by going round and round in circles since the age of 13 in a scrap Beemer on daddy's slab at home. They could honestly do it all day long without hitting anything, not that that's anything to be proud of.

I only commented because I hate the crazed rhetoric that pops up every time this stuff is mentioned. From a quick glance at the vid they were at it on top of molls gap where it has been happening every rally day for as long as I can remember, a few years iv been up there and the gaurds would be down at the restraunt 500m away letting them at it.

I can kinda see your point there buuut I would mention that if that is is taken where I think it was then the road is effectively closed just so lads can do rings there. And in general I don't see much harm in lads doing rings on empty crossroads in the middle of the night. Remember these lads have a fortune in the cars they own eg a good twin cam ~12k at least to buy. That combined with not wanting to be caught means they generally won't be doing rings on blind corners, that's not to say some don't but those clowns are hopeless anyways.

Whatever about the rest of the country, down my way there's a special kind of stupid using the roads every night. Plus,who in their right mind considers doing donuts on a bloody motorway?Some even think it's 'a bit of craic' harassing other road users. The one thing is none of these lads are from the town,all are country chaps.That seems like a generalisation but its true.Even as I type this,one 18 yr old I know could lose a leg due to his dangerous driving at the weekend.A high price to pay for having the craic.

If your doing donuts, skids etc in isolated rural place, ideally parking or some other open area, there won'tt be anyone around. And if someone else is approaching then you'll see him and can stop doing what you're doing in advance.

If you're driving drunk, then you might meet other traffic and will have deal with it which might be difficult when drunk.
