I think there have been example of Kilkenny playing better in finals etc than they have in semi finals to be honest. But generally they were so far ahead of their opponents that they made light work of it anyway.

Its a difficult thing to have the momentum halted. I personally think the reason theres so often a poor start to the championship in terms of intensity and quality combined is due to the long breaks between the league and championship. But most of the time teams are on the same level in that respect. Having to wait 5 weeks to play a match against a team thats had 3 games in 6/7 weeks is definitely a challenge.

Very interested to see how Galway adapt. Cork at least have had 3 championship against good sides so maybe it won't be as much of an issue for them.

Clare v Tipp should probably be a decent game today.
Expecting Tipp to prevail but Clare should improve for the Munster final. McInerney is a massive loss.

Made light of it in 2012.

Expect they will face tougher opposition this time, if its Tipp it will be an exact role reversal on the last two which would be intriguing.

What channel is the hurling on today? I'm expecting Tipp and Waterford to come through this weekend, I actually fancy Waterford for the All-Ireland, I think the win over Kilkenny was huge for them.

Its on RTE2 now, the stadium looks serious.

Is it just me or are all the seats in Pairc Ui Chaoimh white?

    Even worse.

Who the hell thought it would be a good idea to do a McHale Park job on it and have the seats a completely different colour to the county colours of the team that plays there.

I know it's a only a small thing but surely a bit of common sense would have said get seats in the same colour as the county's colours.

The colours wear. They learnt that at the old Pairc ui Chaoimh. The seats looked disgusting. Plus, the neutral seats make it suitable for all sports, including the rugby world cup.

They said Red would have faded in the sun and look pink. There was some team in England that had this happen. They had to rip up all the seats and put in new ones so it gets very costly

Some really bad misses and shots by Clare so far.

The Tipp defence parted like the red sea for that goal though!

As I type another goes in.

Huge hole in that Tipp defence

Wouldn't be doing my duty as a Kilkenny man (and sorry if I sound defensive) if I didn't ask why something that's a disadvantage to every other team in the sport constitutes an advantage to Kilkenny?

I don't mean it's an advantage to Kilkenny, I just mean that they always seem to handle it well. The Munster winners generally don't bode so well, even when they are playing other Munster teams. If anything I was complimenting Kilkenny.

Some v poor misses from Clare so far. That Tipp FB line looks very dodgy though

    Tipp full backs are shocking.

Clare are one wide away from a 33% conversion... really poor as 2/3 were gimmes.

This is great for Galway though, both showing weaknesses.
    Hopefully the same happens tomorrow.

Also happened in Dalymount Park in Dublin. Took only ten years for them to go from red to practically white:

How is that not a yellow card?

Clare need to send a guy down behind the Tipp goal quick! ;)

How wasn't that a free out, he over ran the ball and then jumped into the Clare back.... lucky it didn't end up as a score.

Jeez 10 wides in 33 mins from Clare!

I've never seen such bad shooting from a county side! Clare are shocking

The puckout "strategy" is even worse.

The Clare puck outs need to change as it's not working.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,858 ✭✭✭The White Feather

That must be around 5 points given away from Clare due to bad puckouts.

It is the difference at half time as well as all those wides.

Clare should abandon going for points and just go for goals! It looks like there are more there for them in that Tipp defence

And 5 more from the scoreable wides:mad:

Clare badly need a few forwards with ability to shoot the lights out. Lads like O Donnell, Shanagher and Cunningham are fast strong lads handy to get goals but aside from McGrath they've no stylish point scorer unlike Bubbles, John McGrath and Callinan for Tipp who'd beat a team on their own given the space. Tony Kelly and Noel McGrath cancel each other out in terms of all round forward/playmaker.

One of the greatest defence to attack moves there. Shame Callinan couldn't keep the ball down.

Has Ger mentioned how big of a loss McInerey is yet?

Clare lads hitting wides for fun.

My god will Clare ever learn?...

They need goals at this point anyway never mind the fact they haven't the accuracy to shoot from distance.
