Ah Frankie, the last great pop phenomenon. Still love the basslines in Two Tribes and Welcome to the Pleasuredome. The 'Liverpool' album killed their career. Should have waited another year til they had stronger stuff written, no doubt the pressure was on from ZTT though.

I remember my bother going to see them live, possibly his first concert - I was 4 years younger than him.. Mad jealous.. He was blown away

By all accounts, ZTT treated the band like garbage - but definitely a double-edged sword, when your first three singles go to number one!

Question...how come Frankie didn't perform at Live Aid? Or Culture Club?

Two of the biggest bands in the world at the time

And Wham too, or had they split up by then? Very odd.

Ah, the Duranies. If I remember right, their last couple of singles hadn't done as well as expected so they got Nile Rodgers in to remix 'The Reflex' and it became their biggest hit.

It's wrong to let people know that you did :)

A friend lent me two Echo albums years back to try and get me into them. Still not a fan.

Is anyone else watching Arena: Loretta Lynn? Different times, different views. Kinda fascinating to watch.

They'll do '84 alright. How could they not do pop music's greatest year? :D:D;);)

Just catching up on the Story of 1984 today - it was a cracker, much better than the recent equivalent years stories and a fitting prelude to Pop music's greatest year (TM) !!

Looking forward to the broadcast suitable TOTP84's already.

Paul McCartney must surely think to himself, 'no matter what festival or event I play, I will ALWAYS have the best setlist' :D
