I distinctly remember Shaky and Bonnie performing this on Wogan.

Presumably everyone else does too, and that's like the 1984 equivalent of JKF being shot or 9/11.

Roland Rat is credited by many to have been the saviour of the foundering vessel that was TV-AM.

Possibly the only case in recorded history of a rat saving a sinking ship.

And that was an adaptation of a quote by Winston Churchill.

    Aother of Lionel's mini movies.

Hopefully we'll see eventually his classic (in it's widest sense) video for "Hello".

I'd forgotten that this was quite a moving and well made video by Macca.
Cost a bit too I'd say.

Isle Of Wight festival on Sky Arts at the moment.

I remember seeing Space at the Hillsborough Memorial Concert at Anfield - easy to forget just how big they were during the Britpop era.

Youtube is always worth a trawl if you are looking for a decent Music Documentary

Here are a few playlists mostly dedicated to BBC Music Docs. By no means comprehensive, but might be worth a look.

There are a lot of old shows which never get repeated, maybe due to rights/repeat fee issues

just watching the TOTP repeat tonight thinking that Snowy White song is a complete rip of Dire Straits "Brothers in Arms". Then it occurred to me that DS album actually came out the following year. They're incredibly close in both melody and production, lawsuits have been launched over less (the ridiculous Marvin Gaye/Robin Thicke case for a start)

Hello, No TOTP this week due to the Cardiff Welsh Singer of the Year Thing (Must be time for Tom Jones to win?). Friday sees a Documentary about what happened to Tower Records (which closed down years ago apparently, although they are still going in Dublin's Dawson Street)

Saturday is a busy one with all sorts going on across the stations, here are the details ...

    Thursday
10pm BBC Music Day: Across The Line at 30 Concert (BBC2 NI)
Highlights from last year's Across the Line at 30 anniversary concert at Belfast's Ulster Hall, featuring Therapy?, the Divine Comedy, Villagers, Soak, the 4 of US, Saint Sister and R51. Part of BBC Music Day

    Friday
7pm Queen Live in Milton Keynes (Sky Arts)
Highlights from the 1982 concert, featuring many of the band's greatest hits, among them renditions of Flash and Under Pressure

8pm Classic Albums: Elvis Presley (Sky Arts)
Insight into the making of Elvis Presley's 1956 self-titled debut album, featuring contributions by some of the original supporting musicians, as well as friends and colleagues including Keith Richards and BB King. The programme includes footage of Presley performing classic tracks such as Heartbreak Hotel and Blue Suede Shoes, and examines the record's production

9pm All Things Must Pass: The Rise and Fall of Tower Records (Sky Arts) New!
Colin Hanks examines the history of the American retail music chain, from its origins in 1960 till its closure in 2006, as well as the legacy forged by its founder Russ Solomon

    9pm & 1am How Hippies Changed The World Part 2/2 (BBC4)
The second of two programmes explores how the 1967 Summer of Love set in motion an era of social upheaval that pitted America's youth against its elders, and how the US government responded with a series of brutal crackdowns. The hippies failed politically, but their cultural influence touched on later movements in environment and health, and led to the birth of feminism. Most surprising of all, hippie ideas first imagined on LSD went on to shape the information age itself

    10pm & 2am Pink Floyd: Beginnings 1967-1972 (BBC4)
After The Dark Side of the Moon became a global smash in 1973, rock band Pink Floyd concentrated on the creative freedom of live performance, leaving the world of TV behind. Now, after painstaking research, tapes of some early historic appearances have been tracked down and compiled, offering an insight into Floyd's initial work, and providing clues as to the origins of their later material

10.50pm Last Shop Standing (Sky Arts)
Documentary examining why nearly 2,000 record shops have already closed across the UK and what the future holds for those remaining. The film charts the rising fortunes of stores during the 1960s, 70s and 80s, the influence of the charts and explores the effect the arrival of new technologies had on the way people bought music. Featuring contributions by shop owners and music industry experts as well as musicians including Paul Weller, Johnny Marr, Norman Cook, Billy Bragg, Nerina Pallot, Richard Hawley and Clint Boon

11pm Classic Albums: Pet Sounds (BBC4)
Documentary exploring the making of the Beach Boys' classic 1966 album, to mark the 50th anniversary of its release. Featuring contributions from songwriter Brian Wilson and the other surviving members of the group Mike Love, Al Jardine, Bruce Johnston and David Marks, as well as rare archive footage from the recording sessions

11.50pm Brian Johnson's A Life on The Road: Roger Daltrey (Sky Arts)

Midnight Status Quo: Live and Acoustic (BBC4)
A compilation of footage from Status Quo's 2014 live appearance at London's Roundhouse, where they performed acoustic versions of their best-known hits, including Pictures of Matchstick Men, Rockin' All Over the World, Whatever You Want, What You're Proposing, Down Down, and Marguerita Time. Playing alongside a string section, Francis and Rick reminisce about their career and recall some of the stories behind their classic songs

12.50am Amazing Journey: The Life of The Who (Sky Arts)
Biography of the rock band, charting four decades of their success in the music industry through a combination of rare and unseen concert footage. Plus, interviews with key players, including Pete Townshend and Roger Daltrey

3am Totally 60s Psychedelic Rock at the BBC (BBC4)
A compilation of the genre from programmes such as Colour Me Pop, How It Is, Top of the Pops and Once More with Felix. Performers include Status Quo, the Incredible String Band, Donovan, the Bonzo Dog Doo-Dah Band, Julie Driscoll with Brian Auger and the Trinity, the Moody Blues, the Crazy World of Arthur Brown, Joe Cocker, the Move, Procol Harum, Cream, Jimi Hendrix and the Who

Featuring performances of Instant Karma!, Mother, Cold Turkey, Give Peace a Chance and Imagine, as well as Beatles classic Come Together and a cover of Hound Dog

9pm The Beatles, Hippies and Hells Angels (Sky Arts) New!
The story of Apple Corps, the multimedia corporation founded by the Beatles that became one of the most colourful, outlandish and chaotic companies that ever existed

    https://twitter.com/beatleshippies/status/860754574818279424

    10.25pm Lemmy The Movie (2010) (BBC4)
Documentary charting the life of the Motorhead frontman, following him on various tours over the course of three years. The film examines his rise to fame in the 1970s and the influence of the band's distinctive sound on punk and heavy metal groups. Featuring previously unseen archive footage spanning the Roses' history

    12.45am Heavy Metal Britannia (BBC4)
Documentary tracing the genre's emergence in the late 1960s, pioneered by bands including Black Sabbath and Judas Priest, who were based in the industrialised Midlands. This classic form of metal was challenged by punk in the late 1970s, before a new wave of groups such as Iron Maiden, Def Leppard and Saxon reinvigorated the style. Featuring contributions by singers Ian Gillan, Glenn Tipton, Lemmy, Bruce Dickinson and Rob Halford, guitarist Tony Iommi and keyboard player Jon Lord. Narrated by Nigel Planer

1am Shane MacGowan: A Wreck Reborn (Sky Arts)
Documentary charting the restoration of the Pogues frontman's teeth and shedding light on the lifestyle that led to their dismal state of repair. The hope is that the dental reconstruction will bring back his old singing voice and MacGowan tests out his new gnashers with a performance of Christmas anthem Fairytale of New York

2.15am David Bowie and the Story of Ziggy Stardust (BBC4)
Jarvis Cocker narrates an insight into the singer-songwriter's creation of his glam-rock alter ego, revealing how his hairstyles, fashion sense, stage presentation and album The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars turned him into a star. Featuring contributions by Elton John, Marc Almond, Holly Johnson, Peter Hook and Jon Savage

    Sunday
6.35pm Bruce Springsteen: A Musicares Tribute (Sky Arts)
A celebration of the music and charity work of the singer-songwriter, hosted by comedian Jon Stewart from the Los Angeles Convention Centre in February 2013. 9pm Leonard Cohen: I'm Your Man (2005) (Sky Arts)
Documentary about the life and career of the Canadian singer-songwriter, who details the intricacies of his distinctive brand of music, and his unique outlook on life. Archive footage and photographs from Cohen's private collection illustrate high points from his career, and there are performances of his songs by artists including Nick Cave, Jarvis Cocker, the Handsome Family, Beth Orton, Rufus Wainwright and Martha Wainwright at a 2005 tribute concert in Sydney

11pm Classic Albums: The Doors (Sky Arts)
The making of the Doors' eponymous debut album is discussed by Robbie Krieger, John Densmore and Ray Manzarek. They also talk about why singer Jim Morrison's lyrics continue to inspire fans around the world and the programme features performances of songs including Light My Fire and The End

11pm Buddy Holly: Rave On (BBC4)
Rock 'n' roll started with Elvis, but some believe that pop music started with Buddy Holly and the Crickets. As a songwriter, Holly revolutionised the genre by introducing dynamic new rhythms and unpredictable melodies beyond its traditional blues roots. In his songs written and recorded in the late '50s, it is already possible to hear the beat group sound of the 1960s, and beyond. This documentary tells the story of Holly's tragically short life and career through interviews with those who knew him and worked with him. Contributors include Don McLean, Paul Anka, Don Everly, Hank Marvin and Bob Harris

Midnight Deep Purple: From Here to Infinity (Sky Arts)
Documentary telling the story of the pioneering and influential British heavy rock band, with cameras also following them as they enter the studio to record a new album

1.30am Deep Purple Rises Over Japan (Sky Arts)
A 1975 concert by the rock band at Tokyo's Budokan Hall, including performances of Burn, Love Child, Smoke on the Water, You Keep on Moving and Highway Star

And that's about it, as always if you spotted anything else do let us know

For my money, the best Chairman Mao Sings Roxy Music you will hear this weekend would be at the end of Big Train Series 1, Episode 6 (Friday Night, GOLD, 1.50am)

He really should have had a full chat show music series. Probably too high brow musically and at the time controversial. Joe Pass learnt his craft in his prison cell, the rest were just exceptionally talented.
