Clearly visible on todays satellite image even from the blurry images that NASA release to the public.

Here's the website for anyone that's interested.

    https://worldview.earthdata.nasa.gov/

You can check out the snow in Scandinavia and eastern Europe still today and you'll know then why the east of Ireland was getting temps of 10 to 12 degrees from the east wind last week.

Is that the biggest fire over there in recent years. Remember nearly 10 years ago roughly looking over from Doolin and there was a big blaze aswell. Don't think it stayed going as long as this though.

It must be even though there has been a few big ones I'd say there is more notice paid to this one because its so close to the windmills .
There would be lads back west in a catch 22 situation with stocking rates and vegetation /overgrowth that might have to burn hills to qualify for some of their payments . The dept was worried about it happening last year

Was back around for a gawk last night and the fires are still blazing well. It's unreal the ammount of ground that's been blackened. It seemed to be getting strong up in the forrestry that time aswell

Ya I understand why they do it alright, plenty lads around here burning briars and dead ferns from last year but they would have nowhere to travel, just small bits. Winds must have changed a bit last night. Very smokey here this morning.

Anyone going to this, probably wouldn't go myself only it's within walking distance.
Could turn into a long night

Calves going out there on Monday. Badly needed spraying but done there for a few weeks before the late ones start appearing.

Anybody use a gripple tool? Is it worth the money. Works out about €150 with 50 gripples.

I have a lot of fencing to do. Realistically 80 acres of it in the next few years. Those ratchet strainers can be hit and miss and are €5 locally

Do the Dept still issue blue herd registers?
A neighbour has his old one nearly filled and he asked me earlier this evening - "Its all done on the airwaves now" he said :-))

There's some fire burning over in Connemara lads, can see the flames as clear as day from my place across Galway bay. Looks massive.

some serious damage, doubt the lads who started it are to worried though it's not like they'll be charged with anything

Online version is only appropriate if you have a good internet connection and are computer literate.
Internet is crap around here and not likely to improve in the foreseeable future. I'm on Agfood to do a few calf/cattle movements but I would go demented if I was trying to maintain an online register. I help a few older neighbours with their herd registers. Most of them pay their bills by cash or cheque and feel very let down when the bank that they have dealt with for years decide to close the local branch and offer free internet banking!! That's like offering a head of cabbage to your dog.

Handy for joining high tensile rolls of sheep wire, as you can "adjust" till you get a neat straight join. You don't need the actual gripple tool for that though.
Course, if you go too far, you will have to cut it off and start again.

Was sorry to hear of the passing of Robert Miles. Probably a few here of my vintage would remember him from the 90s. Had about 5 CDs in my collection in college and his album 'Dreamland' was one of them.
