The beautiful truth is a beauty blogger. Off the top of my head she did a course of image treatments with the skin nerd and talked to us about that way before Christmas and now she's doing a course of photo rejuvenation on her skin. She had her lashes done for the child's christening and she had her hair blow dried a few weeks ago. Her nails are usually in bits and she shows us how she does her hair when she's going out with the heated rollers. She's like the least high maintenance blogger ever. She was devastated after her brows though they settled down and she did not plug that salon.

She gets bits done like I would, I'm into beauty and wouldn't find her "reviews" plentiful or over the top. I'd probably go get more stuff done so to me she's definitely relatable. She doesn't have the lips done she's not constantly changing an amazing skincare routine, she's not going getting her lashes done every three weeks, she stuck with her image products for months and is now trying a more "medi" treatment than just the cosmetics.

TBH any less beauty treatments I'd be inclined to think is she into beauty at all? With her hair she recommends the same two salons, the skin nerd is the best in the business and the P.R she's having done now is interesting to see if it'll work on the pigmentation.

As I said, just my opinion!

The plugging of spas and salons for free treatments isn't my cup of tea. Wasn't she also supposed to be having some kind of course of toning treatments too but couldn't as it wasn't suitable for someone with her previous health issues. She's also currently promoting ABC gym where she gets free membership or something.

It's not really the odd thing here or there tbh, it's probably quite a substantial value in total. Those Image treatments with the skin nerd don't come cheap if you're paying I'd imagine.

No they wouldn't be cheap but image products are a huge investment and i for one would rather know if it was hype or if they were worth the money before I went and shelled out for a course. The skin nerd as far as I know does not do facials herself as a treatment one to one, so she wasn't promoting the skin needs services, she was reviewing image as a whole which benefits all her followers all over Ireland as image stockists are in most towns and the therapists are trained to extremely high standards. It's not benefiting just one business.

As regards to the gym, it wouldnt be my thing but she's not showing us leg day or her routine, she has the trainer write for her and give free advice/tips on her blog. She's exercising in conjunction with slimming world and makes no secret of the fact she sometimes struggles with the plan and gym. She also posts when she's doing laps around fat arse boulevard (lol) so it's not like she was randomly approached by the gym out of the blue. I think it's good that she's taking a sensible approach to losing the baby weight and though you'll never catch me inside a gym I can relate to her struggles as I also have severe issues with my thyroid, and weight loss isn't as easy as just eat less.

She never makes any secret of the fact if something's for free, if something's an ad or if she disliked a product or treatment. I could understand being annoyed/frustrated if there was any question in how transparent she was.

I'd rather see her talk about free gym sessions and watch her complain about having no motivation to go than see her peddling misfit skinny tea or whatever other detoxes are being advertised. Surely healthy eating and moving more should be encouraged?

Anyway - you're entitled to your opinion and I'm entitled to mine it's just frustrating to see genuine bloggers who disclose everything and provide actual interesting content and trustworthy reviews being picked apart for nothing but "oh but it's expensive and she didn't pay for it" yes it is expensive but as seone who's into beauty, I find those fascinating before making the call would I do it myself.

my original post was actually mostly about Sinead's Curvy Style, the beautiful truth was only an aside at the end and the gist of it was I don't enjoy spa treatment as content. But I did add that I did still like Sinead OB, it's not exactly attacking her. I'm not fixated on hating these women. I don't like all of their content. That's it. It's not really a big deal.

with all due respect I'm at a loss to understand why you'd follow a beauty blog and not be interested in beauty? Depends on your interests TBH I would do a course of image facials as I feel they're an investment, I mean it's not exactly unobtainable

I am interested in beauty.

There's more to beauty than expensive spa treatments.

I know you have a vested interest in treatments and the like being the manager of a salon. So yeah, you're probably more interested in that side of beauty than me. That's ok.

It's ok to not like the same stuff.

Again, there's more to beauty than spa treatments.

There's no need to be at a loss for anything. I don't have to like the same stuff as you. That's all you need to understand.

Yes the uk bloggers are on another level they put work in to their social media YouTube and blogs .. ours tend to stick to Snapchat and Instagram.. I've looked at a few of the larger bloggers blogs and nearly everything is promoting or affiliate links.
I think they got to where they are due to the whole scene being relatively new.
I think it will all fade out and all that will be left standing are the genuine girls who are honest and not constantly pushing brands at us.

I generally like the beautiful truth too but tbh I found it a bit much to be asking for freebies for her sister's hen this week. I mean people get married all the time and pay for those kind of things themselves. No more than Joanne and the holiday clothes, it's just like they don't expect to have to pay for anything themselves these days at all. It just makes them look a bit entitled imo. Definitely. A lot of these 'infuencers' are where they are because of the explosion of snapchat in the last 2 years. They are masking the lack of content on other platforms by constantly snapping away. As this falls away, I would hope that the genuine quality content creators who have been 100% transparent will be the ones emerging successfully from all of this.

Fair enough. I would argue that the content is varied, a lot of makeup looks and few beauty treatments. The overall health of ones skin is a huge part of beauty and may benefit many different people where ones recommendation of a product may not work for a lot of people.

I'm not sure why you felt the need to bring my profession into it, unless it was an attempt at a veiled suggestion I may be biased but I assure you, I follow beauty blogs as a personal interest and train in treatments and products as a professional.

It's absolutely ok to not like the same stuff, there's a lot of content on the beautiful truth that I have no interest in too but recognise it is something some of her followers are into. But I took issue with your inital post complaining she was visiting many spas and promoting many products when she didn't pay for it and I simply disagreed with it. You suggested the courses she was promoting were out of her followers price range - and as a follower, I disagree.

Over the past 3 days, Grace has given out wrong slimming world information 5 times. And thats just within the snaps I watched. She's a disaster. She's promoting it without even knowing what she's talking about. She's promoting it the whole time, and then goes for breakfast in the gym, the only thing healthy were her eggs. Then for dinner she goes to say its basically syn free, turns out she guesses its 9. like not a clue.
I know so many new mums who adore her, and wouldn't let a bad word be said against her. She's lucky she has them following her to be honest. I'm predicting that if she looses the weight she will become a slimming world ambassador or something like that.

Nicola from the naked blondie is a well known snapchatter and an absolutely amazing person that's know for her association with slimming world. But I don't think she's being paid by SW. She is making money through her association with the naked meat company and it's slimming world friendly foods and her meal planner.

Just seen a plug about the gym captioned the best gym in tallaght... She has no shame,im embarrassed for her.She should change her handle to graces day....because i feel her cpntent is totally gone from makeup to baby and food snaps.

She did address that once, that she sees herself as more of a "lifestyle blogger" now rather than just make up... she should rethink calling herself a blogger as she hasn't properly blogged in months even before the baby. I dont even class her as an influencer... that title makes me die a little inside

God does she ever stop!! 2 snaps of the gyms name how coincidental I think not. I cannot believe the stuff about JJ well I actually can becuse many months back she was named an ambassador or some sort with pampers. She plugged it on every platform with no one mention of #ad a pulled her up on it and she never replied but what did she do? Of course she edited all the posts #ad how amazing!!! My advice is if anyone blogger wise is really annoying or grating on you UNFOLLOW! This is what I was doing as dramatic as it sounds my mental health was being affected by watching some I didn't like anymore. I now only follow SJ MUF and SBT

Tara makeup before she became "famous" recommended IMAGE skincare to me. I invested in it ( it is expensive) as I had problematic skin and I was happy with the results, but recently my skin hasn't been as good and I was advised to get glycolic skin pads from IMAGE and they burned my skin and made me break out in acne. I've found over the last few months that maybe the quality isn't as good as it used to be. Yet nearly every single blogger is promoting it in some form. Are they getting it as a freebie?
TBH there's not a lot of bloggers you can trust anymore. Wouldn't trust SJ, definitely not the MUF as I've seen her a few times in person and she does not look like anything in her snaps or insta. I suppose the best thing is to go to a beauty salon that you trust and ask their advice about skin and makeup.
Anyway that's my two cents

I have to say, this really annoyed me. I do Slimming World myself and it's not really that hard to remember what syns are what once you are used to it. Seeing as though she has done it before and had success AND is in class, I just don't see how it is hard to have an idea on what you are doing.
Just a pet peeve of mine.

And if it's a video snap record it on someone's phone and attach it to the. Email .. don't be fooled by brand ambassador either it's all an ad.

Im a little confused.....Am I correct in saying that the only time bloggers MUST use a #ad is if they're being paid cash? If so, how can we complain to ASAI unless we're 100% sure they've been paid?

Does anyone follow UK blogger Lydia Elise Millen? She has a YouTube channel and is constantly buying expensive handbags and sells them a few weeks later on Depop! Like last month she spent 9grand on two Dior bags, and before that has had a Chanel boy bag, Valentino bag, Mulberry bags, Gucci bags, all said to be "investments" but a few weeks later they all end up on Depop and their fee contributes to her buying her next bag and so on so forth.
It's just crazy, buying these bags to reccomend to her followers and gushing about how she loves them and then she goes and sells them on and buys more bags and the cycle continues. I know some might say it's her money to do as she pleases but don't they have some responsibility to their followers? Imagine buying an expensive bag cos your fav YouTuber recommended it and said it's amazing and a week later you find out she sold it on Depop. It's not just a once off, she is constantly doing this.

I've seen her a few times apparently she's Rosie cons favourite YouTuber,
I wonder if that's where she got her depop idea from.

In regards to image some of the products are extremely active and should be prescribed to you after a skin consult. I love image but if I put glycolic peels/ahas anywhere near my skin I'd have big trouble. There's a product for everyone but no one product that suits everyone.

Oh I know and I agree! But imagine you were kinda half thinking of buying it, and then you see a glowing review you'd think "oh sure I may as well take the plunge", you'd feel kinda duped after realising they sold it a week later! Can't have been that fab to begin with. I would never in a million years buy something because a blogger said it's fab, but there are impressionable people out there who do!

Anyway, my main point was that her content is just a testament to the "I want it now" culture that is dominating at the moment, but it's neither sustainable or reliable. It's just having stuff for the sake of having it and then selling it on to have the next fad.
