I'm on remote training on Switch launch day.

That doesn't guarantee that I'll be sitting around in my underpants playing Zelda on every flat surface in the house till my wife gets home, but I'd say it's a pretty strong indicator.

Edit : @AJ - yeah, but given that it's basically a redux it's the perfect way to launch your paid-for online service. Give us 5 quid and we will give you the world! Covered in paint! Do it for free, make the single player a paid-for DLC at moderate cost with on-couch co-op and some stupid joy-con minigames where you spray ink all over eachother in a glorious squiddie orgy. Everyone wins.

And erm...Battleborn. They outsourced Aliens I think but should take responsibility for releasing it. While I have been critical of 3rd party support I find Pitchford comes across as a dishonest shill.

They did. But that didn't stop Randy Pitchford talking it up to be the best game ever made, sitting in front of critics and journalists lying to their faces & then putting on a sad act when his lies were found out. He knew full fcuking well the shíteheap Aliens: Coloional Marines was, but he lied and lied and lied. I wouldn't buy a gearbox game if it was the only bloody game on the console I bought.

Might want to give those surfaces a wipe down before the meal prep starts... :D:D:D:D:D

This one I'm really looking forward to! Really loved Wonderboy in Monster Land and the original Wonderboy and The Dragon's Trap.

OK, I have marshaled my thoughts, such as they are. I'm too late to join the discussion and I know you've all moved on but this makes me feel like I'm part of something so bear with me, eh?

I'm hoping they use that HD rumble for something special. Mortal Kombat or an update to that gornographic Punisher game - why mindlessly pummel or blast your enemy when you can precisely feel exactly which of their vertebrae you're about to fracture?

I know I'm in the Minority but I looked at Arms and thought "That could be like the Splatoon of punching!".

Speaking of Splatoon, if you have to pay for Online and it's an Online-Only shooter (Don't fool yourself, 1P mode was an extended tutorial with a glorious boss finale), why do you have to pay full price for the game? If there's no proper local vs or couch co-op this time it can go and ****e.

The online subscription offering looks pants, but you already know that.

The translator voice-over on the initial Switch presentation sounded exactly like the guy from "Plumbus : How do they do it?" on Rick and Morty. It might explain the lack of stock, they probably had to repurpose a bunch of the schleem so they're short of dinglebops.

Very upset at how the Joy Con is just the Wiimote reborn as an even more expensive novelty, now even smaller and more chewable. I found teeth marks in my Wii U gamepad charging cable. It's a real concern.

1.2 Switch is not going to sell at retail. Unless it's bundled with JoyCons. It might be time to pre-order it now and cancel if it's not.

    And now I'm purged.
Not cancelling my pre-order, but I can't help but feel weird about not having a game on pre-order, and having the WiiU Zelda BotW comign from Amazon. Maybe I really am afraid of commitment after all?

You know you'll be here on the night of the 2nd, buzzing.

Fantastic! This looks like an insta-buy for me. :)

That game was supposed to come out on the Wii U. We can probably chalk that down as another cancellation.

It's absolutely beautiful, with those stunning watercolour backgrounds. The original was one of my favourite games on the Game Gear. Played it to death!

Not necessarily. Never know after all.

Wonderboy doesn't look like my kind of game, but I had been meaning to pick up I Am Setsuna on PS4 recently and never got around to it. At least I’ll have something else alongside Zelda now.

While I've owned and loved playing Wonderboy games on different consoles (master system, pc engine, etc.), I don't think I'd pick this one up.

I just don't trust them enough to have it on the day though.

"his best guess" is different to the best guess of other stores. it's actually one of four best guesses now.

the staff seem consistent in each store that the deposit has to be €50 so I'd go down that route just to be sure.

Very true but I don't want to go and do a €50 in store preorder until iknow whats happening with the other one. Last thing I want is to turn up and have 2 of em waiting for me

Just preordered the Legend of Zelda from GameStop online. I had already preordered the Switch and put down the fiver for it. The online system forced me to pay 50 quid for the switch and an additional 5 euro for the game. Oddly the original 5 euro deposit wasn't included on the total bill but the money has been taken from my bank account. Anyone else have this issue?

I had planned to take a serious look at the switch. As mainly a PCGamer, with the change in my home life with kids I'm simply not gaming enough.

The Switch seemed like a cool functional idea that ticked a few boxes. However looking at the pricing points, game selection and what appears to be disappointing specs relating to visuals, think I'll give this a pass for some time. Nintendo has never been on my radar since the N64, nothing after ever interested me. Thought the Switch might have been a cool jumping on point, but massive meh from me.

Take the receipt or whatever with you on launch day, and show it to them if its not counted off the total when you pick it up or whatever.

I'm almost a bit worried about paying off on the switch... if GameStop take more pre orders than they can fulfil then do they refund me in cash or what's the story?

Like the PS VR launched in October, sold out and there's still no sign of them back. It could be the case where my pre order isn't fulfilled and I don't get a switch till Christmas.

Also, carry case is €19.99 on GameStop https://www.gamestop.ie/Nintendo%20Switch/Games/62085/nintendo-switch-carry-case-lcd-protection-sheet

In theory, they won't take more pre orders than they can handle cos they'll stop taking them once their allocations are full.

Didn't they cancel a lot of those nes mini pre orders at the last minute though?

They’ll take as many as they can get and then in the week before the launch will phone up people and tell them that they’re just outside of those who got in for the first batch but that they’ll be guaranteed a console in the second batch of deliveries, which could be a month later.

gamestop stores have a combined bucket of consoles which can be preordered. when a console is preordered by someone in a store this is taken from the combined bucket and when that bucket is empty pre orders are gone. maybe in the nes mini they were told they had more than they ended up having. dont see that happening this time

They put them on the list for later shipments, not cancelled. Not launch day either though.

Gonna pay that pre order off quickly as possible just in case. But I don't think that pre order thing is right, I've seen them stop taking pre orders after a certain point like with the NES.

My problem is I paid a fiver deposit online but when I go to the my orders page it says I have none until I click into a specific orders tab. The order is there but the price hasn't been amended to the actual price of the Switch. So it's still saying I owe them 495. Can't get a reply from customer service on the matter, and, as I said in a previous post the shop I selected to have it delivered to can't amend the order as it seems to be on a different system to the instore preorder s. It seems people are having lots of different problems

Lego City Undercover on the Switch is keeping all the Nintendo references from the Wii U version.

I've kept both preorders going until I here something concrete from them. if I end up losing the €5 deposit from the online one I won't lose sleep or anything.

the shop said I could merge the two once it shows up on their system.

I don't like the idea of keeping somebody else from getting one but I'm sure gamestop will have a list of people in line for cancellations on the day. or I can give yhe preorder to somebody else.

They are more than likely just in R&D looking at a 4K version ala the PS4 and One.

No way it will be a 4K dock. You don't just plug an extra processor on to something and get 4K magically, it's a stupid and nonsensical way to do computer architecture.

Anyone wish they were releasing the Switch in white? It's probably something they'll do eventually (assuming the console launch is a success and subsequent sales are healthy). I like the red and blue joycons but they don't appeal to me with the black tablet in the middle, and I can't help thinking they'd look great with a white-framed tablet. Relatively meaningless aesthetics really but just a thought. :)
