Seriously these public servants need to get a grip on their wage expectations. Are the rest of us supposed to slave away on modest incomes and pay our taxes to keep them on the pigs back.

I feel sorry for Sadie. Very hard listening to this. It sounds to me that she is well able to live in her own home obviously with the home helps coming in etc. She obviously has friends in her community that visits her now and again. It sounds to me that she got very little choice from her family to continue staying at home. They obviously are having none of her giving out as regards leaving the nursing home and going back home. The radio must have been last resort for her because her family were obviously not listening to her. I hope she gets to go home.

    I don't think that's true.

She said that they refuse to sign her out. This means that medical people, (doctors, nurses, Occupational Therapists, district nurses, home helps etc.) have formed the opinion that she isn't fit to look after herself. They're not going to let her walk out the door on her own, as when something happens to her, Joe Duffy will be down their necks asking "Why was she let out".

If she was capable of looking after herself there would be nothing to sign and she could leave when she wants. That is almost guaranteed not the case here.

I feel sorry for her, but if the family can't/won't look after her, then she's in the best place for herself. I looked after my Dad for 2.5 years and it's a full time job.

I'll say what i said at the beginning; it's voyeurism pure and simple. It shouldn't be on the radio as it's seriously hurtful to the family.

Is this an orchestrated campaign to dominate talkshows and influence opinion?

Her husband pension would be €70 k if he retired tomorrow.

7000 applied for 600 gardai positions last time round. If things are that bad why do so many youngsters want to be gardai.

He signed up for this caller. Imagine if a dr came on complaining about seeing blood.

I'm sick of whining guards. Huge wages for the job they do. And on a work to rule and lazy policing for the last number of years. Traitors to the country

The Luas drivers fought for their increase and got it.
The Garda will get theirs too and the teachers.

If you guys want a rise then get out and protest. Better than whinging about others on here.

The Garda get well paid mate as it is. I'm fed up with this low moral issue. If they're not professional enough to do their job, let them quit and try and make their way.

If they love their jobs, then they'd do it for half nothing!

    yes.

i blame incest. these feckers have been riding each other so long they dont KNOW what a normal wage based on actually having to keep a company going to supply it on is.

a couple of factory workers would wake them up quick sharp to what a shyte wage REALLY is and what happens if you look for 68k a year from your boss.

the place shuts down and everyones out on their ear.

gards teachers etc were NEVER worth what bertie bribed them with.

No merit in supporting greed. If you follow your logic that might is right, then this country is truly finished. Call back in the Brits or EU to run the place.
