And a big "well done, well done!!!" to Yew Ormonde on becoming Series Producer of Lahvlahn, according to the credits today.

He seems to be able to withstand the tantrums of the host.
We wish him good mental health in the role until Anus McNally returns from his much publicised (all of it free) Christy Hennessy impression tour.

Ah leave Aonghus alone. Seems like a very nice chap, far too courteous and mellow to be involved with the likes of Joe and Liveline.

wasn't Fungus McNulty often minded to stand in for byeeeeeeeee back in the day?

    Producer update:

    1. Rebecca
    2. Yew
    3. Siobhán
    4. Fergus
    5. Aonghus

I know he's bad at de Matty Matticks but I can confirm (after checking it on Goo Gull) that 5 > 3. You can be damn sure given that it's RTE none of the above on on the average industrial wage.

He has said on more than one occasion that there's a "team of researchers". Team to me = >1, but he has also stated there's "just" 1 researcher. Between all of the producers, researchers and other people involved in the show (soundmen etc.) and the other full-time host Philip there must be in the vicinity of €1.5 - 2m spent by RTE on this show every year.

Does anyone know if I get that information through a FOI request?

Course you can submit an FoI but there is no guarantee you'll get answers due to commercial sensitivities...

FOI is about €550 the last time I looked.

They'll just respond that the producers are on other projects as well as Liveline, as is Boucher Hayes (Drivetime for example) , so any answer wouldn't be a reflection of the real cost of the show.

You'd be wasting your money IMO.

    I hear you......

I wouldn't be at all surprised if the in-house producers aren't on very big money at all.
Certainly, across the water, the BBC were scandalously low payers for their production staff, and the decent money didn't kick in until you were there for ages, or knew someone, etc. The craftspeople (lighting, electricians, sound, carpenters, etc) got far, far bettter pay than production staff.

I'd be shocked myself tbh if they weren't. In a former working life I dealt with some RTE people regularly. To describe them as under-qualified and overpaid would be an understatement. It seems to be the norm there across the board and across all functions.

I'm all for breast-feeding in the workplace. just move the babies head every so often- give the lads a good look at the puppies so to speak

Del Boy: Isn't that the most beautiful sight in the world, Rodney?

Rodney: Yeah. Pity the baby's head is in the way, though.

Ah now, that's been changed. Since 2014 you can get information and the entity have to tell you if there will be a charge. The trick is to narrow down the search terms.
On da Funneh Friday on de 51st May twosixteen:
How many rté staff ventured to Killarney, cost of travel? food? equipment moving? ancillaries?
Names, roles of all de staff dat travelled.
    Wat colour were dem cars?
    Salaries of all dem staff?
Were they dere just for 1h15m lahvline?
How much benefit in kind was received such as hotel food?
How many contributors were dere and how much fee did each get?
    Did dey too get subsistence?
How many Lahvline shows did Joe Duffy host in two fifteen?
Wat are da rules about promoting your own products on de rté radio?
    and so on..

Ah yeah, remember the day they devoted the whole of what is meant to be a call in show to Dickie Rock. And remember it was because this was what all the callers were asking Joe to do, it wasn't him just giving his old pals free air time. So I dont want to hear any of ye suggesting that.

Just wondering if we could be in line for an (un)Funny Friday by stealth today, for the day that's in it (as our host is prone to say)?

Getting close to the Christmas period. I'm sure Uncle Bob, Syl, June Rodgers, and co have lots of paid gigs to plug at licence payers' expense.

June Rodgers is no longer doing the Christmas Party show in the Red Cow Hotel. I know someone whose work Christmas Party was held there every year and when she came on there'd be a fair push to the bar and lounge area. Awful stuff apparently, but their business was behind the hotel and it was easier for everybody to have it there.

So they'll all be looking for the cheques off Mr & Mrs T .Axpayer RTE.
