Yeh, I ended up totally tired of the grind in 'Elite'. That and the fact that everywhere in the universe was pretty much the same.

At 25 lids, Horizons is still...erm..."too far" for me. I have other things to get with those shillings.

Pity though, 'Elite' had all the makings of a truly brilliant game. It might get there eventually.

the old close combat games such as "a bridge too far"

would love to play against someone!

and most of em can be downloaded for free here!

Always remember 'A Bridge Too Far' being as hard as nails. The AI nearly always cooked my goose. Don't think I ever succeeded in beating the game as the Gerries or Brits.

yeah, its tough, but i think its partly because the controls are so dated, the troops don't do what you want. I played the newer close combats and they're far easier simply because you can control the units better.

let me know if you ever install it again, wouldn't mind playing a person instead of the ai all the time

I bought Metris Soccer today because it looked like FIFA street, and another alternate football game which could be interesting to play on the PC.

Overall, its early access, textures are a bit ****, gameplays a bit boring and I'd not recommend it right now.

Been playing a lot of No Mans Sky up to about a week ago,at 60hrs played i reckon ive seen all it has to currently offer. Tried a few mods with it to see if there was any that would make me wanna keep playing but no joy there yet really. Most just small mods making minor/graphical changes. If they ever release anything worth while or a killer mod ill revisit it.

Moving on to Empyrion Galactic Survival now, intially its more impressive than No Mans Sky. Server play too which should be interesting as it supports PvP

    Everspace

it's in early access, or beta - whatever, it's not finished anyway but it runs really well, plays like a first or third person (you can choose either) FTL

Anyway, have a look for yourself

really well tbh, ship handles nicely - boosters give it a good whack of speed and it comes to a dead stop when you stop holding down your accelerate button - ye can do massive damage to your ship with collisions. I'm still getting used to playing on with keyboard and mouse - and it's mouse steering and keyboard assists (strafeLR,Hover,Descend, Thrust, weapon toggles etc.) - so i'd reckon this'd be class with a controller or stick.

Couple of glam screenshots and the first and third person views here too

Looks an awful lot like elite dangerous, only with more of an arcade style

It's also supposed to be hard as nails. Very tempted to pick it up next week. I just hope there are enough random events to keep it interesting.

Looks nice but I generally avoid early access titles and I'm not interested enough in it to spend money on it versus just playing games I already own.

New weapon variations and so on but the combat style hasn't changed, space sim all the way.

I played through Divinity: OS about 2 years ago shortly after release and it was by a mile my favourite game of the year when it released, absolutely loved it. I never played the EE when it came out but decided the other night enough time had passed and I'd give it a shot on Tactician mode. Holy crap the game is hard, the fight with the orcs on the beach, I had to go back and reload an old quicksave where I still had a fire grenade because I don't think I possibly could have managed the fight without it. I feel this is going to be a bit frustrating, there's nearly always a solution to the difficult fights so hopefully I manage.

Decided to play Papers Please again. Such a brilliant game that I got hooked again. Decided to play the "abide by the rules" type this time. Screwed the rebels over at every oppurtunity by simply sticking to the rules.

Just got Mad Max and arkham knight in WB sale on steam.

Mad Max is outrageous fun for a tenner, had heard good things, but still surprised by the number hours I've sank in so far! Highly recommended.

Will get to Arkham Knight when I'm done with Mad Max ..

Playing a few different games at the min haven't really settled on anything particular. I will wait till the evenings start to get dark earlier.

Playing a bit of GTA V(Finished this game a few times but I just really enjoy the story and setting) Ty the Tazmanian Tiger and then a few games on Xbox One which I won't mention here as it is a PC forum.

Just loaded up Arkham Knight. Tried it with settings on High and 2x FSAA and no gameworks options.
Ran very smooth in the challenge arena I loaded. Happy days :)

Been playing Overwatch constantly, but got around to playing The Beginner's Guide last night, did it in a single sitting, was pretty good.

Gotten hooked on Dark Souls. Really regret not playing it sooner but it's been brilliant so far. Just finished with the Undead Parish. It's a slog at times but a very enjoyable one and I love the combat. I've gotten so used to the button bashing style combat that the more slow tactical combat of Dark Souls feels refreshing.

Also been playing Read Only Memories which is a very retro style visual novel game set in the San Francisco of the future. It can be a bit cheesy at times but it's still a pretty good game so far.

I was playing a game called 60 Seconds! It had an interesting concept and the trailer made it look at lot different to the reality.

Finished Hearts of Stone expansion for TW3. Very good stuff. CDPR was always better at doing sidequests and this is just like a very expansive side quest. Got a really good
    Spoiler
    steel sword
at the end. Really like the eastern inspired light armour, too.

Remember playing that about ten years ago. Great laugh, but it was really way too easy.
