It's a great Dark Souls type game but I hate the animation. That flash/news grounds puppet animation is so cheap and looks awful.

It's cheap looking alright but I like it, I think it pops really nicely. It makes the bosses stand out differently as a lot aren't done the same way and look weird.

The game itself is absolutely top notch.

    Replaying the SC2 Protoss campaign.

    It's absolutely excellent.
Verteran RTS players probably won't struggle too much with even the hardest difficulty, particularly after you discern the patterns of play the AI uses, but it's certainly challenging enough to be fun, and with 3 different units available for each type of unit from different factions and the "god" powers from your spaceship, there's a lot of different ways to play it.

Blizzard in general seem to have gone towards a design philosophy of removing permanent choices in favour of flexibility. In general it's not something I'm a fan of.
Take Diablo 2 vs Diablo 3.

I loved having a defined character in Diablo 2. A sorceress who specialised in lightning, or a Paladin who emphasised magic over battering lads over the head with pure strength, or whatever.
In Diablo 3, they removed all of that in favour of being able to switch abilities in and out at whim. In doing so, they killed the entire role-playing element of the game for me.
While the mechanics did improve, that's all there was in Diablo 3 and even if they're great they can only keep you going for so long.

However, in SC Legacy of the Void I didn't have as big a problem with it.
I thought I wanted more of that locked-in decision making (which you get in the Terran campaign and that does keep me coming back to it), but I think you just don't tend to replay RTS as much and there's enough depth to the missions and intrinsically in the gameplay that I don't miss it as much.

Bought and completed Shadow Warrior 2

Blown away by how good it was, was expecting the crude humour of the original, and got that, but it's got so much more too, it's actually got so much it's an ARPGFPS in the same vein as borderlands, but just so much more class. It's a lot shorter and very much more visceral, about 20 or so hours singleplayer's worth of campaign if ye do all the sidequests. And a lot more if you co-op and free-roam.

I loved the first Shadow Warrior but I found it got a bit tedious towards the end as its basic formula was go into a big open area, kill all the demons that spawned, go to the next open area and repeat.

Has the sequel improved in regards to that or is it the same formula?

Playing Mafia III. It seems to be more stealth oriented than previous Mafia games. Well so is the first 5 hours that I played anyway.

Played a lot of No Man's Sky lately. It was a bit of a slow burner for me. It's not perfect but I'm enjoying just bopping along the universe, exploring, naming weird looking dinosaur type creatures "Nope Nope Nope Nope Nope". As you can tell I have a great imagination. I'm managed to max out my exosuit and now I'm going to slowly upgrade my ship.

That's basically it, though there aren't as many mobs, they are bigger and harder to kill - they've got diablo-like affixes (poison/fire/ice etc..)and vulnerabilities that ye can exploit with the right weapons/runes/gems etc. It's more like diablo in that respect, ye have plenty to do but unlike diablo it doesn't feel like a chore to get something done. There's valid reason for doing side quests, ie the weapon rewards and the cash, which is used for combining gems to make them better. The fast travel is very well done and so is the skill system, actually it's the best skill system i've seen in ages, and it's in a bloody FPS! :)

I really like that game also. I do not like the online either. I just wish they would release some single player DLC. Tbh I doubt that will ever happen considering how much money they are making from online.

After not trying a new game in months (between Warcraft and DA: Inquisition), i decided i want to go through some of my backlog. So started Metro 2033 last night, and it's really good so far. A bit rough around the edges, but playing through in Ranger mode and it's tough as nails at times. Will do Last Light after this, and then i'm thinking Bastion and Transistor.

Buy as many filters as you can in Metro.

I've done another play through myself on this,
i've been playing online, trying to get heists done and have some fun with them,
but it can fairly frustrating with some players on there,

if you are up for it we could do a few heists,
unless you really have no interest in online at all

Yeah, that definitely seems like an issue. I upgraded an AK, as that will hopefully be my primary weapon for a while, and nothing else. Hard to find ammo in Ranger mode though.

Wow, just discovered that you can play GTA 5 as a FPS... never knew that.

Yea it was a selling point for when it was released on Xbox One and PS4 and then you could also do it for PC also.

Just finished Mad Max there, just over the 30hrs. Have to say that they really missed a trick, this had the potential to be a truly great game. The setting was great, the graphics were great, the car physics were great, the upgrades, combat were all well done. But the lack of variety in both the story/strongholds/top dog fights really meant it fell short, which was a pity.

It had it's moments were it really stood out, like going to Underdune for the first time was so eerie, but these moments were rare outside the pure grind. It's a good game and would advise anyone to play it but it was an opportunity missed imo.

I really enjoyed Mad Max. Like you said it could have being so much more :(

It's not that I don't like the online it's just when i played it when i first came out I kept getting disconnected, long load times really annoying. It my just be my slow connection that is the problem as I live in the countryside.

I would be up for some heists but it would have to be late at night as other people use the connection in the house and as I said I have a slow connection and with other people on at the same time I get lag really bad.

I'm a few hours into Dark Souls 2: SOTFS. Haven't played a Dark Souls game since my one and only play through of the first in the series (incl. DLC) a few years ago, which took me 95 hours or so. Forgot how painful the opening act of this type of game can be :) I remember from the first DS that until you have your muscle memory down, it's not very much fun; drinking from your Estus Flask when you want to attack, rolling when you want to parry, etc...

    BLUE REVOLVER

    So good!

I've gone back to playing Sunless Sea now that the new Zubmariner DLC is out. As you might imagine, you can explore the depths, visit underwater colonies and be traumatised by what is by far the worst monster in the entire game.

I'm really enjoying it. The stories are fantastic and balancing trade in my ship vs exploration in the depths is a real challenge.

I bought that game and played it for 5 minutes. It wasn't immediately obvious what to do without reading reams of text. I'll have to give it another go when I'm not as impatient :pac:

It's my most-played game on Steam by a country mile, so I obviously love it, but I can see how it's not for everyone. There is a LOT of reading - it's all about the story - and even though combat plays a part, it's smarter and more economical to run away from conflict, especially if you're playing in permadeath mode. So if you're looking for a trading game or a marine combat style game, this isn't it. But it's really rewarding if you're into the atmosphere and learning about each island's mysteries piece by piece.

    Great game.

More of a novel than anything. A lot of great short stories mixed into a relaxing nautical game.

    Wolfenstein:The Old Blood.
Been sitting in my library for a long time after i picked it up very cheap. More run and gun fun, does not take its self to seriously, ill blast through it fairly quickly.

    "Relaxing"? :pac:

Man, this is one bugger of a game. Fuel and food run out a bit too fast and it's very difficult starting out. I still have my first captain, but only just. The ship has a crew of 2 at the moment and we have to crawl everywhere around the map.

It's good, but I don't know whether it's worth the 20 caps (30 with the sub expansion).

Finished Trails in the Sky. Strange RPG in terms of story telling. It's all very light hearted for the first few missions. Then you reach the final mission and everything comes together for a fantastic finale. Then after a satisfying ending the game hits you with a real sucker punch of emotion and leaves on a cliffhanger.

It's the definition of a slow burner and that ending was so good I jumped straight into the sequel since I just couldn't leave it hanging like that.
