I've gotten extremely fed up with Overwatch, played a bit tonight, and I've just because extremely frustrated with it. I think I'll be happy ditching it for a while.

I've had a few nights of that, feels like you've hit a wall. I still can't put this game down even in times of despair! :)

They were under pretty tight deadlines. They wanted to do a lot more but were pushed to complete it in about a year or so. A bit unfair as the Obsidian guys were working with Bethesdas engine which would have been new to them.

Also there was a clause that they would get extra money if the game got a metacritic score of above 75. They got 74 and Bethesda said no. Fair enough they technically didnt meet the criteria, but given how well the game did and its great reputation it seems unduly harsh by Bethesda to hold to that exact criteria.

It was way worse than that. They identified the bugs that were making the PS3 versions of all Bethesda games unplayable on that machine after 40+ hours and let Bethesda know. They never fixed it expecting Obsidian to fix it themselves, then released Skyrim with the same bug.

Also Obsidian never got the full bonus for the game. The game needed to hit a certain score on metacritic to receive the bonus, they were one point under it and got nothing. The company staying afloat was riding on that bonus and they would have shut up shop if it wasn't for a successful kickstarter.

You would wonder why people buy Bethesda games with carry on like that. Fallout 4 wasn't even great imo.

Fallout 4 very stable and while not bug free it's a head above everything else they've released. Still agree overall.

Remember playing skyrim and having to stop as all magic resistance/defence stopped working after a patch. Could kill armies, but 1 little mage would rip me apart.

Cossacks 3 - anybody playing it?

Would like to play online without getting my ass handed to me by Russians 24/7 :D

Have reverted to Anno 1404:Venice - slowly building my cities and production chains is a nice timeout from more hectic games. Scenarios are quite fun too and pretty challenging. Almost tempted to pick up the latest anno game now.

I actually sow it on steam and went: wtf?! Then made new one?!
It was very popular years ago in Lithuania. Like eastern European total war/age of empires.

Don't know if I will get it, but if it will go for nice low price o moght pick it up. It looks great.

If you are going to get it, be aware that it's not a 'new' one, it's a HD remake, they called it 3, but they really should have called it 'Cossacks HD'

I'm still very much in a holding pattern until Civ6 comes out.

Then there'll be Deathwing in the near future and hopefully ME:Andromeda and DoW3 earlyish in the new year.
I haven't played that new Starcraft mini-campaign either yet and the third part should be coming out over the next few weeks as well.

I'd never managed to make inroads in Terraria hardmode so I'm horsing into that while I wait for the above.
Has anyone here ever managed to actually finish the thing? The difficulty spikes are all over the shop and you can be motoring away one second and then get demolished by a boss monster the next.

Prison Architect is one that I was playing all weekend.

I had seen nerdcubed starting a youtube series on this and thought it might kill a few hours at the right price. Opened the steam store in my browser to find that it was €27.99. Luckily I have enhanced steam addon for the browser, which told me the game was available in a humble bundle! $6 and a bunch other cool game codes later I was playing!

I was expecting to boot it up, get a tutorial, and be left to my own devices.
This game has a campaign mode though, something that I didn't expect. I say campaign, cos that's what the menu calls it, but it's really an advanced type of tutorial, with a plot line. A pretty dark plot line too, though I'm only starting chapter 4 I think, so no spoilers please! :D

Put in nearly 13 hours over the weekend, so it's been worth it already. No need to play the campaign either, you can just play sandbox mode if you like!

I'm sure loads know the game, as it was pretty popular during early access, but I often dismissed is as similar to the escapists. The story mode caught me, that's why I'm talking about it now.
I'll probably be told that this story mode was always their, and I'm just the only eejit who didn't know :pac:

    Thumbs up from me anyway:)

I've had Prison Architect sitting there for a while and barely touched it, must give it another bash. Overwatch has ruined me this last couple of months, haven't been able to drag myself away to anything else.

I did pic up 8 Bit Armies on sale last night and gave it an hour or so. It's very much in the Classic C&C mode and will be good for a few hours of nostalgia. It's lacking the ridiculous plot and characters that gave the C&C campaigns their flavour though.

Where did you get it on sale? How much? Looking for something new myself

Same guy who made the soundtrack for this made the soundtrack for C&C

Might be worth getting on this alone

I loved Forza Horizon 1+2 on Xbox but I don't think I can justify paying that much for the third one, hopefully it drops in price sometime soon.

I've owned the complete version of Civ V for a long time but never really played it. Put about 10 hours into it here and there, over the space of probably 18-24 months.

Decided to start a new game yesterday... and I've played 11 hours in 2 days now. The whole 'one more turn' thing has really gotten its claws in. I'm interested in Civ 6 now but think I'll wait a while for an edition with DLC, Civ V will keep me happy for a while yet.

I would suggest just play Civ 5 as it matured nicely and DLC brought it up to a very good level of complexity. In simple words: Civ 5 is now a lot better game then when it launched. I am pretty sure same story will be with Civ 6. You better off waiting out for a few expansions and then stick in to it.

Civilisation games are some of the best games you can get on PC but you're always better waiting until there's at least one expansion to buy instead of buying at release. The expansion packs turn a good game into a great one.

I've read Civ6 is the most complete Civ game at launch so far, so hopefully it won't be the same as previous iterations.

Either way, it'll probably be brilliant.

I'm about to be playing Mafia III in a minute for the (hopefully) next few days.

Spoke with Links on Steam earlier, she asked to say "Hello to all in PCGaming!"
    So there ye are!

I'd love to know the reason why she left.

Save us from the impending doom!

Links left? Oh no, I was going to PM to give my thanks for a game I got off Links who remember that I loved Trine. Ah boo.

Just started Salt and Sanctuary and I fricking love it, art style and soundtrack are amazing. Controls are funny to start but I think I'll catch onto them.

Already beaten the first boss, game doesn't take any prisoners.

And parrying mechanics from Dark Souls, happy out

    happy out

Had to work in Cork and Limerick this year and well educated people finished sentences with OUT.

What in the name of jaysis does it mean?

Happy out? Grand out? whatever out?

It's a great Dark Souls type game but I hate the animation. That flash/news grounds puppet animation is so cheap and looks awful.
