Those W111's are very expensive to restore correctly. If you can do the work yourself you can make some money or end up with a nice car, but I dont really think it could be called profitable.

Its just they are so beautiful I hate to see them deteriorate.

Anychance you guys could rob some parts from it ? It has nice stacked headlights ! :D

Got a slightly better picture of that Fiat 131 today:

    f_Fiat131m_d0067c4.jpg
There is a good bit of rust developing around the rear wheel arches.

And I also saw this '85 Mercedes 200 W123 near the KCR aswell:

When I was in Frank Keane's yesterday getting a quote for my car repairs I came across this. I knew he has a collection including a 507 but i didn't know about this baby!

Apologies for the poor quality but they were taken with a camera phone in a dim and small room!

Some more I've spotted around Rathfarnham, I know some are not exactly classics, but you don't see them that often .

Because strictly speaking you supposed to on an import which doesn't have a ZV registration mark. Strict is an alien concept over here though.:D

(Looks terrible, but the best reason I can come up with)

how do you get away with not changing the plates? legally that is, or is there not a way?

I think they look dreadful. Nearly all vintage cars in germany have these plates too. I dont think there is any legislation over here on 58 C etc plates or is there???

I passed by this van this morning near Harold's Cross. Not too many of them around anymore.

The Kadett I've seen around as well. Some old lad drives it.

And as for the Reliant Rialto 'General Lee', that too has been doing the rounds as well. You'd want balls of steel to drive it like the Duke boys did to their Charger! :D

Not true. Euro-plates are only necessary on cars from 1991 onwards.

possibkly you would find it statets for cars REGISTERED from 1991 which of course technically includes all imports....

Saw this lovely example yesterday on North Great Georges St - nice shade of olive green and very tidy apart from a small dent on one of the rear doors.

I thought it might belong to a certain flamboyant bearded senator known for his interest in James Joyce, given the location, but apparently he drives a Jag...

The BMW, I just happened to see in my own driveway...:-D

Obviously got the clamp off then!

    You'd think they'd have a ressie disc.

Bummer!, but at least you know it's safe when it's clamped - I was thinking of buying one for my own car! Living in Inchicore, no gates on the drive, makes me kinda nervous...

yes - had a look, rhd, black alcantera interior, fiat badged MPH speedo, it must have been converted but the job looked professional and probably done when the car was new. I know the UK importer for Alfa Spyders used to convert them, maybe this was the same case.
