Yes it will snow next week infact ther will be light snow showers
int he east tomorrow. Monday could dump upto 15cm's of the
damn stuff. After that they'll be heavy snow showers in the
east on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday

I've had enough of this codswallop stirred up by a pathetic

The "snowline" as such is through the far east of Northern Ireland
and through central Wales, it will move west through tonight and
ly through connacht at midday tomorrow

That why light snow showers are likely from later tonight and
tomorrow in the east

Fact is that nobody knows the track of this front on Monday, I think Met Éireann are correct to forecast on the side of the stats..ie when in doubt predict rain ..its usually right.
This front will not be accurately predicted until it starts falling in the north imho ..lets wait and see what happens..anything else is speculation Met Éireann or Weathercheck also !!
Personally..i'm going for sleet and a small possibility of 1-2 cm in Dublin if it does settle (Sunday/Monday early hours) .

Weathercheck , please stop spreading this misinformation, the 528 dam is NOT a "snowline" there are many other considerations ..

The temps are falling away nicely now... 3c in most of the east coast, 4-5c in the mids, and 5-6c in the west. Even Killarney is struggling to get into the 7s.

Plus it does act to me as the snowline as such
as 850hpa temperatures will be around -8c with
500hpa DAM Thickness at around 520 in Dublin
tomorrow at midday so in a few words the 528dam
line would act as a "snowline" as such in this case!

SUNDAY FEB 20
A bitter cold day with a north or northeast wind. Some wintry showers in the east coast area, and these may drift inland. Accumulations of snow are unlikely at lower levels. Max temperatures will range from 2c to 6c, possibly 7 or 8c along the west and southwest coast.

Night time sees a sharp to severe frost setting in across most of Ireland, however a front in the N will push southwards, bringing sleet to much of the north with snow locally. Lows of -3 to +4c, mildest in the NW.

MONDAY FEB 21
From the small hours, the weather front over the north will push down towards the SE and fall as snow over much of the Midlands, South Midlands and Midlands East, and east. Some considerable accumulations are likely in many areas as the front stalls. By midday, the front will begin to push west and southwestwards, bringing snow to these areas, it will have been falling largly as rain or sleet there already, so significant accumulations are less likely. Temperatures will max from -1c to +5c, mildest in the west.

Nighttime will bring clear skies and a very severe frost with -6c to +1c being the range in light to fresh NE winds. Wintry showers will affect the east coast, topping up some accumulations there.

TUESDAY FEB 22
Cloudy for most, some sunshine in the west. Very cold in a fresh ENE wind. Max of 0c to +4c. Some snow flurries will affect the east coast.

Overnight sees a substantial trough push in from the east, bringing heavy widespread snow, the West should see snow from this too by the AM. Lows of -3c to -1c. Fresh ENE winds.

Further Outook
Wednesday will be a repeat run of Tuesday, but even heavier snow overnight.

Thursday will be a cloudy day with light flurries, but clearing skies overnight will allow a very hard frost of -8 to -2c.

Friday will bring a slight improvement as skies break to allow sunny spells and a begin of a slow thaw, though this will re-freeze overnight.

Saturday will be the change day with ESE winds bringing high cloud and milder temps. Up to +6c. Overnight, rain and sleet in the SW will push NEwards preceeded by snow locally.

9 O Clock weather forecast was showing only a few showers for sunday and monday with tuesday being at the highest risk of snow.

Currently some light snow here on the coast, the next week could be interesting
the typical Irish sea shower line is forming and if the wind nudges east then
eastern coasts are in for prolonged spells of snow
