I get you like to be a contrarian at the best of times of BWalsh but posts like this make you look crass. To suggest that the reactions of people to seeing images of starving children is somehow over the top is distasteful nonsense. You wouldn't dare say people condemning Russian crimes in Ukraine were being over the top in their criticism of Russia

Equating a defensive war, however ugly, with the industrial extermination of six million Jews is not only offensive, it trivialises genocide itself.

Can you tell me what you think of the Israeli Govt. characterising the Hamas attack of Oct 7th as a Genocide against Israel?

Do you find that offensive and trivial too?

    Are you a real person . A 60 day ceasefire lasts 60 days .

Israel broke the previous ceasefire suddenly and without warning in mid-March, taking everyone by surprise.

Vague as ever BB. If you have something to say, have the courage to quote the post you are referring to so the poster can respond. Otherwise it just makes you look like an oul whinger.

This line "Second, the liberation of the people of Gaza from Hamas, so they can finally determine their own future through the ballot box."

I know I have asked you these questions before and you refused to answer but let's try again. Do you think Israel will ever let Gaza be a fully sovereign state? I mean do you know what Gaza was like before the terrorist attack and subsequent war?

Israel have never agreed with the 2 state solution. They never will. Gaza was described as an open air prison by many experts before the war. Why was that? Because Israel were an occupying power and controlled everything in Gaza - imports, exports, water, electricity, movement of people etc. In 2007, Israel significantly intensified existing restrictions and imposed a complete blockade on the movement of goods and people in and out of Gaza. This utterly destroyed the economy and left Gaza completely dependent on aid. Youth unemployment rate rose to 64%. There were 11 hours of power cuts every day.

Have a look at this report from the Norwegian Refugee Council

Gaza: The world’s largest open-air prison | NRC

    UNICEF

The Gaza Strip | The humanitarian impact of 15 years of blockade - June 2022 | UNICEF Middle East and North Africa

    OCHA

The Gaza Strip: The Humanitarian Impact of the Blockade | November 2016 | United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs - Occupied Palestinian Territory

Isn't it a bit fanciful to say that the people of Gaza "can finally determine their own future through the ballot box"

Only one side is murdering innocent civilians in 2025 and only one side will determine the future of Gaza.

    I don't expect a response.

I am - thanks for asking. I can count too.

I also know that Israel has a lot of form for reneging on agreements.

Do you believe Israel will stick to a 60 day ceasefire? And do you think they will resume hostilities on day 61?

I have never seen a more hateful and bigoted bunch of extremists than the Zionist crowd on social media. Even the regular far right, Trump and Putin guys are nowhere near as extreme as this. Openly cheering for genocide and the massacring of civilians…..absolute maniacs.

    That's amusing.

Watch when children again are murdered again on day one of that "ceasefire".

Can the title of this thread be changed?

Seems ridiculous that it's still 'Hamas Strike on Israel 7th October'.

More civilians have been killed in the occupied West Bank since 7th Oct than Israeli civilians killed that day.

Could I suggest simply 'Israel's Genocide in Gaza'.

Good to see these deranged maniacs being robustly challenged at long last. He practically accuses C4's Krishnan Guru-Murthy of being a member of Hamas at one point.

watching the news each night …..it’s basically a case of how many people Israel kill every day ….. such a evil nation

The BBC had an article on its site claiming that people had been killed by Israeli fire at a Gaza Humanitarian Foundation station and then took it down and admitted that, having reviewed the video footage, there was no evidence of that having happened.

Karoline Leavitt spoke of the BBC's volte face.

So why don't Israel let the international journalists in to see for themselves?

Have you a link to this BBC fake news or apology because I can see a BBC Verify report showing people being **** at in an aid station.

What are they doing in the Hyacinth House?

Would you have a link to that please (the BBC retraction)?

I strongly suspect you won't have one because

    1. The BBC, nor any other foreign press, are banned from Gaza. They only provide reports of what people on the ground report (aid agencies and Gazan journalist who've not yet been murder by the IDF)
    2. There is no retraction, apology or correction that I can see on their website

    Surprise me.

    What are you raving about?

    https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c2lkwz0y5n0o

The Israelis starve kids to death and then lure them in with the promise of food then butcher them.

    Sick disgusting scum.

Seems the GHF might very well be short lived, hopefully leading to the reintroduction of UN control to the distribution of aid:

    • The Gaza Humanitarian Foundation, in charge of distributing aid in Gaza, said its work had proceeded smoothly and that no security incidents were reported in the aid zones, adding that it doesn't control "the area outside of our distribution sites and surrounding vicinity." It further said the IDF was investigating possible injuries in "an area well beyond our secure distribution site and operations area." The foundation later issued a statement defending itself, saying that since it began operations, "there have been well-organized efforts aimed at undermining" it.
    • Witnesses speaking with the Associated Press described "indiscriminate" shooting and "gunfire from all directions." Following the reported incident, the UN human rights office said that the impediment of access to food and relief for civilians in Gaza may constitute a war crime.
    • The Washington Post reported that the Boston Consulting Group firm had severed its relationship with the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation, quoting sources as saying that the group would struggle to operate without the firm.

The regime haven't issued a shred of evidence that the two aid massacres didn't happen, just endless waffling and attempts to distract.

Mencer is ex UK Labour for Israel. The man should be in jail

Concrete measures to prevent or at least reduce Israel's capacity to commit Genocide appear to be increasing:

The Spanish newspaper El Pais reported that Spain's Defense Ministry has suspended a major arms deal with Israeli defense contractor Rafael. The deal, worth around one billion shekels (approx. 250 million euros), included missile launchers and rockets.

Good report from Fergal Keane on the current distribution (or not) of aid after 11 weeks of starvation tactics by Israel. Another War Crime to add to a very long list.

Very interesting opinion piece from Haaretz. Seems the US may allow the additional Hamas terms that Israel ends the war and Gaza is "liberated".

"Hamas, with the assistance of Israel's muddled behavior, has managed to construct a formula according to which the release of hostages depends on the 'liberation' of Gaza from Israel, and this, according to the Witkoff plan, is a formula the U.S. is inclined to live with, mainly in light of the catastrophic scope of the humanitarian crisis.

Herein lies another resounding contradiction in the government's policy. At the beginning of the war, some people estimated that heavy humanitarian pressure would cause the population to clash with Hamas and demand its removal from power. This didn't happen"

Very noticeable that most western media has turned against the regime. The shift in coverage has been huge - partly fuelled by the fact that nearly everything Israel says appears to be dishonest and untruthful (they were always deeply dishonest of course but perhaps felt that as it worked for them for years, it would continue to do so even now).

The video of this interview was posted here, I think, a while back. But here's a good summary that categorises Mencer's modus operandi which simply follows all Israeli spokespersons.

    Interview by Yama Wolasmal

On 30 April 2024, The Daily Politik reported:

“So we shouldn’t believe Hamas. We shouldn’t believe the UN, the World Health Organisation. All the aid groups on the ground, rights groups from all over the world. We shouldn’t believe them. We should believe the Israeli Government?”

In a calm, clinical interview held in Norway, renowned journalist Yama Wolasmal picks apart the duplicitous propaganda from Israeli spokesperson David Mencer.

At one point, Mencer says (with a straight face), “We feel that we are the most humane army to have ever existed in living memory.”

Wolasmal: “Then why do your soldiers shoot at people with white flags? You even shot your own hostages.”

Wolasmal doesn't hold back, putting Mencer under the cosh, challenging him justify many of the claims Israel has made about its actions in Gaza.

All Mencer has are lies, fake tears about the line of questioning, ‘trust us, we’re a democracy’ crap.

Note: David Mencer is the former director of the largest foreign policy lobbying group in the UK Labour Party, Labour Friends of Israel and previously worked for a number of Labour MPs.
