Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Got a text, and followed the link to a portal and booked the time slot that suited me.

Text received: Today 12 pm (17th May)
Date of Vaccination: Tomorrow 18th May
    MCV: DIFE, Drogheda
    Vaccine: Astra Zeneca

My friend received her text today - information above. She is not happy with AZ . Her father in UK - very poorly. She is afraid that she is not going to get a window of time to see her father again with AZ vaccine. She hasn’t seen him since 2019. This is very upsetting for her. Is there anything she can do? Any chance the vaccine can be changed from AZ to Pfizer/Moderna?

You can travel into UK without restriction (Common Travel Area still being applied for travel to UK) and could always travel back via Belfast.

    Teacher here, not vaccinated (obviously).

Is there a mechanism by which people can leave Ireland to go to the UK for a vaccine?

With mine I was just told they'd be in touch in 4 weeks to let me know when to come in, but that was with a doctor.

Got called by GP today for vaccination tomorrow, wasn't expecting it. Age mid-30's, south east region. High-risk category. Reaction to this from some friends has been surprisingly negative - assumption that I'm too young to be called and regaled with stories of others who haven't been called yet but based on age or occupation 'deserve' it more. If people are being called in there's a reason! Going to keep quiet about it now as I'd feel obliged to share my medical history with them otherwise!

Thanks! Yeah I was a bit saddened, some think they're an authority on which conditions are highest risk etc.... I'm happy to let the medical experts decide that one.

    49. Got a text from my GP last Wednesday and I'm due in on Thursday 20th May.

Wasn't told what vaccine would be used. I suppose I don't care particularly but the HSE seems to give differing info for the 40s cohort every other week!

Everyone is under stress waiting on this vaccine and there are numerous tales of people getting the vaccine who do not appear in any way vulnerable. If you have not shared your medical history with friends it is a natural assumption on their part to assume you have a "friend" somewhere in the system. I'm not saying they are right to be negative but I do understand their reaction. I must say I have been taken aback with how smug some people have become upon receiving their vaccine.

Yeah you're right, everyone is getting antsy waiting and worried about people skipping the queue. I could have been more clear in my post - they all know I have an underlying condition and that I've been very sick at times but I don't go on about it and I put a lot of effort into staying healthy and I do look healthy. It's more that everyone has a story of someone else who is older/has a condition/is a carer/teacher or similar and why haven't they got it yet etc. etc. I've been taken aback by how people throw caution to the wind once vaccinated, how do you mean smug?

    Tell them to feck off!

I'm early 30s and got a similar reaction from some of my family when I got the call a month ago - because one of my parents is disabled. However my condition puts me in group 4, her multiple conditions put her in group 7. It is what it is.

If anyone's unhappy for you, feck them. They'd be diving on it if they were offered

I'm 54. Dublin city centre. Nothing yet, text or portal. Registered last Sunday. A friend got his first jab today out in Citywest, same age as me. I didn't include a doctor's contact on application, could that make a difference? Personally, I can't see how it would, but of course, I don't know.
