Yes, and it would be without a royal family too. Just like Versaille Palace in France, Alhambra in Granada, Spain and Topkapi Palace in Istanbul despite none of the regimes existing anymore.

    and?

the 'they bring tourists' argument for maintaining a cosseted entitled monarchy system is redundant.

the 'they bring tourists' argument for maintaining a cosseted entitled monarchy system is redundant.

    Maybe, maybe not.

It’s an argument, not necessarily the argument.

What are the 'other' arguments for having a cosseted entitled class at the top of the pile?

I hope she's not reduced to travelling in a BMW.
Now the important questions, did the Land Rover break down and was it powered by a German diesel, or a proper British thumping V8 petrol.

    TD5 - British 5 cylinder turbo diesel.

    why not?

why go to all the bother of changing it?

maybe someone can explain this, because I was wondering about it: why did Harry walk in line with William / after Prince Charles, the future kings, at all?

He decided to not be on duty for the royal family anymore, so he's just another grandson of the Queen, like the children from Anne / Andrew / Edward which were standing along the pavement and obviously not allowed to walk behind the coffin...
it's all about protocoll, so how come Harry was treated still as some 'special grandchild'? Is he still considered as a heir apparent? He quit!!:)

Harry is still 6th in line to the throne.

hmm, sorry, but not really convincing..why can't you walk behind the coffin if you recently gave birth..?? and there is an appr. 18 year old daughter from Edward too, not only the 13 year old son, and the daughters from Anne..

anyway, maybe they just decided it should be that way, with Harry... I actually think he should have not walked there, given this awful interview and stuff being said. Actually shows a lot of magnanimity from the family.

There is a laid down procedure for how these ceremonies will proceed and it will not be diverged from because it’s not broken so there’s no need to try and fix it.
Lots of new mothers will avoid walking unnecessarily in the weeks after giving birth, especially when the eyes of the world are scrutinising your every move. Princess Eugenie had a c section because of her scoliosis.
My 86 year old mother remarked instantly when Charles waved away the cars after the service that the husbands of Eugenie and Zara should have insisted that their wives be allowed to ride back up to the castle in the cars.
In high heels and heavy back coats on what had turned into a very warm day, walking uphill on cobblelock, weeks after giving birth? Very uncomfortable.

Grrr how much is it costing us to pay a guy to lower the flag and raise it again? Fummin.

I was gonna say we might save a bob as it wasn't raised all the way. But then I remembered it has to be raised and then lowered. Same in reverse when it's coming down for the night, all the way up and then down. Sickened at the cost of it now:mad:

They could have done it in the night, hopefully no one would have seen.

How does it affect your day to day life? You can have an opinion on anything you want Francie, I just don't get how you can be so bitter all the time about people who don't even know you exist.

You might want to stop being so protective of people who have no idea you exist Timberrrr. That this is a discussion forum might need review by you too.

So you won't answer the simple question?

How does the existence of the British royal family affect your day to day life?

It's none of your business, if I want to discuss it with you, I'll let you know.

If you have anything to offer on what I did say, knock yourself out.

It's OK, I already know the answer. The fact you refuse to answer the question also let's others know that in fact they have zero effect on your day to day life bit without them you would be lost on these boards.

    Sure Tim

Couldn't get a rise, resort to some invective.

Here's what I said, if you actually have anything relevant answers:

What are the 'other' arguments for having a cosseted entitled class at the top of the pile?

And as I said, how does it affect your day to day life? You never say this about any other riyal family, you just jump into any thread that has the word royal or England in the title and spew hatred.

The world Cup thread was the pinnacle of that, never posted in a football thread before and suddenly is all over the England football thread salivating at the thoughts of the England fans rioting, oh how you and others were dissatisfied when they didn't.

Never seen you post after that about football, thought you would have been lambasting the French fans after they won and still rioted...I must have missed that post;)

when you look into it you have to go where is the lie?

I'm not a member of the soccer forum. Not interested in the routine factional spats in there.

I post in the rugby one though, and manage to keep this mythical anti Englishness under wraps, even backed them to win a world cup semi final if memory serves.

The French don't have to predilection for rioting the English fans made their reputation on. I linked that to something you don't like being said...boo hoo. Who cares?

Anything to say on what I posted, or you on a one man protection mission...again?
If there are threads on 'other royal families' please direct me to them. I detest the concept in this day and age.

Nah I'll leave you to your hatred whilst defending murderers every day, have a good evening, I'm off for a couple of well earned pints :D

Oh, and as you know the soccer forum was open to all during the world Cup ;)
