In *your experience and opinion as the boards *expert on Spain here is it?

In my actual in Spain experience and thst of my living in Spain family? Yes.

In the experience of those that travelled there in this thread? Yes.

In the experience of the Spanish nationals active in this thread? Yes

In the experience of those in this thread living there? Yes.

My own experience on a flight? Yes.

YOU, no one else, you made a suggestion that was idiotic. It wasn't even childish, it was worse, it was insulting and arrogant and it was made despite having not been there during covid-19 but have the gall to suggest we are all self elected experts?

To suggest to someone that they can simple travel and ignore another nations laws and practices while on holiday, is it any wonder why the Spanish look down on the guirris?

Well, the two people I know personally who live in Spain, said the same.
When restrictions are in place, everyone follows them. Not like Ireland

We had last March restrictions that we could not leave our house for I think it was 8 or 9 weeks only to go to a shop and only 1 person from the family, everyone complied, I had to translate for people so I had papers to allow me move around to accountant offices, and when I say I could go for 5 to 6 hours and maybe only pass 2 or 3 cars, or maybe only see 2 or 3 people walking to a shop. Right or wrong in some people's opinion there has been huge compliance with everything been asked.

Spanish national here and leaving in Ireland for a very long time.

I do usual travel to Spain, almost every month (even during pandemic, yes I know, I'm probably a criminal to many people here). Masks are mandatory and everyone is wearing them all the time regardless of weather conditions except for some cases pointed above like eating/drinking/smoking/sports.

If you venture yourself to not wear it, you might be lucky and police may not see you but I can guarantee you someone else on the street will tell you to wear it.

Certainly having to wear them whilst jogging or cycling in the heat is a ridiculous rules

Proving your ignorance of the rules again, for exercise it is not mandatory but many still choose to wear them.

No you are wrong, tenzer says no one wears the masks anyway. He hasn't actually been there but he knows

    I see Varadkar spouting again:

Tánaiste Leo Varadkar has said he “”hopes August will be the month when things are relatively normal again in Ireland.””

However i think it’s not looking good for future travel, his latest statement is this:

But he said not everything may be the same and there would be questions about mass gatherings and indoor events and international travel

Just to let people who's passports are expiring know, I applied online for a renewal about a week ago, maybe 10 days ago, they notified that the expected date of arrival was may 12th, which I thought was unrealistic considering the backlog, however, im delighted to report it arrived TODAY.
Its amazing how small things matter so much now.

I figured this would apply to people who had a divorce only ? For them to visit kids ?

Well the loonies writing this legislation are living in the 1950’s before we were a global open economy so they probably don’t recognise divorce either.

I believe that they intend to make the passport office an essential service and resume full production soon, so hopefully anyone that requires one for holidays should be sorted.

Do we know when this horrendous hotel quarantine list will be updated ? Are any countries expected to be added or removed from there ?

I'd take no real notice of the comments about international travel to be honest. Truthfully there will be restrictions in place for some time to come yet, maybe even MHQ, but it'll probably only apply to the developing world, or at least exclude Europe and the US. There will be restrictions in place on all travel for a while, tests/vaccination etc etc. I'm really hoping to travel in July, but I understand the need for certain restrictions. Airport fines should disappear in June, the non essential travel 'advice' will remain for the year I'd say, if nothing else just to prevent the sheep from spending their money abroad. But I would say the prospect of a European holiday from late June on is good.

Whenever Stephen Donnelly arranges a darts game I would imagine....

I would say it'll only be reviewed when there's another 'scariant' in the media. As the selection appears to have no actual scientific/set parameters basis it's hard to tell. We should pick a small nation somewhere at random and start bleeting about their numbers on social media to see if we could get it added, just for the craic of it :pac:. It would probably be far more effective to put the population of Donegal in there and release everyone else.

And guys...do you know people or have heard of people who were actually fined in the airport ?

I know some peeps who have travelled and even though they got asked questions for their travel purposes, the questions were light and they got to travel without any problem.

I have read that the fine is 2000 euros ? I hope that for this price, they still let you take the plane :D

Ok can I just clarify a few things. The digital green cert to allow travel within the EU is surely coming? Once this is here can I take it people can travel again? Surely Leo is talking about restricted travel to countries where the vaccine rollout isn’t as good as the Eu?

It eventually rose to 2k last month. I guess it depends on the garda you meet. I doubt there are very few of them that want to fine anyone. I can imagine that anyone that had an attitue towards them probably got fined. Reminds me of a TV licence inspector I got nabbed by some years ago when living in Dublin. He collared me on the way in the door of the apartment block and asked me what number I was in. I thought he was maintenance so I told him. He told me who he was, and that I had no licence, and then said 'you have just moved here haven't you? You haven't even had a chance to bring your tv around yet? Have you? :pac:

When you hear comments about “questions” regarding international travel i’d say the digital green cert for Ireland could be on shakey ground. Ireland isn’t in the Shengen agreement so Ireland could opt out of it. However i could be totally wrong.

You make a good point, as there is clearly no speedy or meanignful review process, or one driven by anything other than social media reactions and populism either. For example:

Bermuda - 9 cases per day - get in the hotel!

Netherlands -7,400 cases per day - you're free to go!

Let's have a rant at one of the micronations, like Sealand, or North Dumpling perhaps.

I would tend to agree with you ! If you are nice, act good and polite, most probably you can escape without any fine..

I am a bit fearful of what 'restrictions' the Irish gov will look to keep in place well into the summer.

The only thing that might force their hand would be the EU digital pass PLUS the UK opening up Travel significantly and potentially easing up on their quarantine/testing rules on return from abroad.

With Belfast up the road therefore it could be the UK that forces the governments hand as much as anything else

I could be totally wrong here, so someone else might corrrect me or confirm, but there are two different schemes being discussed.

    The first is the green cert, or whatever it is being called now. This is to allow unrestricted travel within the bloc;

Once agreed, the regulation establishing the certificate will become legally binding in each EU country but, as currently proposed, each government will then have six weeks to implement it.

So they can drag their heels, but they have to accept it.

    Second is the proposal in recent days to allow people from outside Europe in;

The European Commission has called on member states to allow people to travel freely into the bloc as soon as they are fully vaccinated.

People travelling from countries with a “good epidemiological situation” would also be permitted entry – and the commission is calling for a higher daily case threshold to determine whether countries should be included on the entry list.

Ireland will take part in the talks but is not bound by their outcome as it is not part of the Schengen travel area.

So they do not have to accept that part, but they'll be too money hungry to keep the Americans out so they'll accept some visitors. Though we probably won't be allowed go there :pac:

Was planning to go to Spain in September but not with the outdoor masks. Might have to rethink

I can't see it being that easy for entry, we seems to following Israel and now they're flying kites over there about an immediate lockdown if the variants appear. If everywhere in Europe isn't as strick on entry like us out of an abundance of caution they'll quarantine everyone coming in which may mean coming back from holiday's.

That's no different to the nonsense RTE spout - basically telling people to be frightened about a vaccine resistant variant which currently doesnt exist.

    Omg
This really has the potential to be never ending.
Just shout “variants” ...... close everything down at once. FFS

Considering we've ordered vaccines for the next 2 years the Government don't think so. Someone should have told Donnelly Pfizer intend to have the cure out by the end of the year. There's only so long they can drag it on for, europe opens for travel we'll follow.

Just to clarify some points on this, is it possible to sit at a table outside for 2 hrs drinking beer/wine and not put a mask on? Or is it expected you make some effort when not strictly consuming something? Same goes for indoor bars I suppose.

Are masks expected when lounging by a hotel pool? I realise Spain is regional and may have differing guidelines

No issue with wearing masks outdoors on the street besides that, you do get used to it even in heat imo
