You think Nascar would look at their schedule and move things around a bit where its less likely there'll be rain or lightning when they go there.

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 5,707 Mod ✭✭✭✭Nowso

the indycar was on nbc before the nascar was on usa and they couldnt clash

I had a few quid on Truex - seems fastest , doing a lot of complaining about the strategy he is running in races , and he has a good record on Mondays lol

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 38,963 ✭✭✭✭eagle eye

I noticed Keselowski moved up pretty fast just before the rain came. He was going well early but fell all the way back into the mid-twenties. Maybe I missed a pit penalty or something?

I like the Indycar myself. NASCAR is no.1 though. I watched that race last year and it's like Formula 1 in that it's extremely hard to pass. I like the oval races and one or two of the road courses.

    buscher beats Truex on strategy

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,686 ✭✭✭Charlie-Bravo

So, it's early in the race on lap 10. SVG in 8th, Kobayashi in the 67 car is languishing back in 34 trying to figure how to drive a lump of a Nascar!!

Stenhouse, what the **** are you doing today.

No wonder your nickname is Wrecky Spinhouse

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 5,707 Mod ✭✭✭✭Nowso

the no caution roadtracks rules has made that and other roadtracks a lot less watchable - that was just like f1 today

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,686 ✭✭✭Charlie-Bravo

What a celebration by McDowell! Delighted for him. A really good drive, and got that done on merit. In the playoffs now!

Yeah, delighted for McDowell. I thought Chase was gonna get him a couple of times but he kept ahead and deservedly won.

It certainly was a strange rest with the top four pretty certain from early in the race. There was over five seconds between Chase and the battle for third between Reddick and Suarez. Then it was something like 14 seconds from them back to the next group.

McDowells well deserved win has thrown the race to make the chase into turmoil.

Suarez was very unlucky that track house messed up his pit stop ,otherwise he could have got the win , but now he is one of the favourites to win at the Glen.

If there is a new winner at the Glen then Kevin Harvicks playoff position will be under threat and Bubba will need to win Daytona !.

Rockenfellar went a little under the radar today but made good progress and could be a top 10 runner this weekend.

Chase starts as favourite but after Indy (the last road course race before the return of the Brickyard 400 ?) , McDowell, Suarez and Reddick will undoubtedly feature .

The Glen: The drone shots through the bus stop towards the Carousel have been fantastic for both Xfinity and Cup races.

Yeah it was a great watch tonight.

Byron must be favourite to win the Championship. He's been head and shoulders above everybody bar maybe Truex all season.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,686 ✭✭✭Charlie-Bravo

I didn't watch Daytona live but caught the extended highlights this morning. Ryan Preece had a horrible accident. Thankfully he's ok.

i watched it until the big wreck on stage 2 . and just watched highlights then - Massive flip

    a lot just dropped out

Dinny saying he would push Bubba and not Tye must put his position under threat maybe him an Reddick might switch or John Hunter might get Brought up next year

Buescher is a serious contender for the Championship now.

This evening's cup race at Texas Motor speedway is on now and it's on the free channel Viaplay Xtra (on satellite/Freesat).

i had it on usa , didnt spot that . Byron picking up another unlikely win

2 fastest cars off the weekend didnt win , allgair because off allgairs usual mistakes and Larrson getting loose and wrecking

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 38,963 ✭✭✭✭eagle eye

Algaier's usual mistakes, what do you think he did wrong?

Larson got really loose very suddenly.

Buescher has been very steady. I've a feeling he's making the final four.

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 5,707 Mod ✭✭✭✭Nowso

his crew was talking to him about 1 and even Dale Jr mentioned one , the mistakes led him to having 1 set of tyres left and at the end that cost him

The reason he had only one set of tyres left was because he was forced up almost into the wall and into all the dirty debris, fell backwards and had no grip so needed a new set of tyres. That's how he ended up a set short.

Even then it was all the yellows right at the end that cost him. On the first restart he got away far enough that he wouldn't be caught as there cars with fresh tyres still had cats to pass. On the second restart Hill slowed him up enough that the cars on new tyres got close to the front and the last yellow ended his chances.

talladega and all the carnage is on Viaplay sports extra today

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,686 ✭✭✭Charlie-Bravo

Yep, red flag at the moment. It was all very cordial through stage 1 and towards the end of stage 2. You could feel the tension building.

Respect toc rookie Herbst earlier on doing a great job running with the veterans at the front. Really managed the front two rows will.

i had to switch to nbc stream the picture on viaplay looks very washed out

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,686 ✭✭✭Charlie-Bravo

I'm watching the channel on FTA satellite in HD (the TV still has it saved as Free sports HD 😂). Picture is very good. No American ads 😜

Thrilling battle between Blaney and Harvick, 12 thousands of seconds difference gave Blaney the win and locked in a round of 8 position.

Ford have been strong at dega in the past so no big surprise,

However , news that Harvick has been disqualified with SHR already confirming that they won't appeal.

Final race in this round is Charlotte, Kyle Busch is in must win territory while both 23XI are outside the top 8.

Keselowski just two points above the cut line and Reddick two below, everybody else safe I think unless Bubba, Chastain or Kyle Busch manage to win.

I still think Buescher is going to pull off the upset and win the championship.

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 5,707 Mod ✭✭✭✭Nowso

the best roadrace of the year with the stage breaks back in , and they ended up causing chase and reddickk to loose there chances of winning .

Great to see Dinger win he deserved a win

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,709 ✭✭✭Infoanon

That was a crash fest - Truex lucky not to be one of the victims , Suarez wrecking Bubba chances , Chastain getting caught up in Kelowskis incident .

Track difficult to pass on ,Reddick chance to win was scuppered by the ridiculous stage breaks and unfortunate timing of a yellow before the end of stage 2. Equally Reddick did not need to win after gaining stage points .

A well deserved win for the Dinger, but the race itself was endless yellows , amateurish driving and very little passing imho.

Busch,Chastain, Kelowskis and Bubba knocked out, points reset so Truex back in the top 4 .

Byton and Hamlin (excl today) look the most consistent to be champion in 4 weeks time.

Cup race on Viaplay Xtra again. Larsen lucky not to have a full head on with the barrels at pit road. Caution is out with 50 to go.

Red flag now while they make repairs to the pit entry barrels.

the toyotas are going better on the long runs . Larsson drop off really showed the difference , if anything could go wrong for Truex it has lately ,

Bell is a clutch driver , did the same when needed last year .

although the 5 is the fastest car i can see a Joe Gibbs toyota winning the title ,

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 38,963 ✭✭✭✭eagle eye

Byron is the guy I think takes it, he comes up trumps when needed.

I'd love to see Buescher make it but he has to win for that to happen and it's very hard for any team to take on the powerhouses of Hendricks and Gibbs at this time of year.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 38,963 ✭✭✭✭eagle eye

I was thinking about Harvick retiring and he's expected to go commentating I think.

It wouldn't surprise me if he gets involved in a team. I could see Newman-Haas having Harvick added to the name.

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 5,707 Mod ✭✭✭✭Nowso

Hsrvick has a contract with Fox to commentate on the races . in the future maybe but dont see him doing anything much yet

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,709 ✭✭✭Infoanon

Shocker of a truck race finale last night , a wreck fest not befitting of a championship finale.

Infinity race tonight and the final cup race tomorrow night , Blaney v Byron v Bell v Larson

    Phoenix and Ford = Blaney ! ,

Kevin Harvicks last race and also Aric Amirola is bowing out , rumours persist that Noah Gregson will be in the #10 next year.

Yellow after 3 laps in the Xfinity championship race. It'll be a long evening 😁

agreed with your logic ! very good climax to the season . Blaney far better on the night

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 38,963 ✭✭✭✭eagle eye

I'd never have predicted that Ryan Blaney would win a championship, not even when he was in the final four.

I can't help not liking the guy ever since the Ryan Newman crash. He acted like he didn't mean to hit him but I'm certain he did.
