I suspect many people/countries would like to see that, but what would it leave behind?

For all that Iran is one seriously messed up country, it's also a stabilizing influence over a huge area of territory, and Israel provides a unifying focus for the hatred that Arab nations have towards outsiders. In all likelihood, Israel would win any kind of conventional war with Iran, but I seriously believe it would be an utter disaster for the rest of us. It would make Syria, Afghanistan, and Iraq seem like walks in the park in comparison.

This is something that people need to get into their heads. A defeated Iran would be very bad. We've already seen many of the main stable regional nations flounder over the last three decades, and little is replacing them, except for paramilitary organisations, and greater influence for the "terrorist" or extremist organisations.

The US has just shown itself incapable of dealing with such situations, and we want more to be created? We can have a relatively stable Iran which holds the territory together, or we can have a massive rise in terrorism... I'd prefer Iran.

Disagree with your earlier reply about tak nukes and international isolation. No one in the west would give a sht similar the erasing of Palestine off the maps. Most would see it as a business opportunity to get back into Iran and control/exploit the natural resources. Trump had to be talked out of hitting Irans Nuclear plant that would have killed 500,000 people. Last week the US mil released images of their F35s with new tak nukes and a year ago Israel leaked footage of what is believed to be a small mushroom cloud like explosion as a show of force.

The lunatics are not in Iran.

And in a conventional 1 on 1 war Israel has zero ability to defend itself from Irans missile cities. Can barely deal with rockets from Gaza atm and have to apologize to Hezb when they kill their fighters. Would not stand a chance. Why they always hide behind the US.

Funny thing is, the west would make so much more money out of throwing Israel, SArabia, Bahrain and UAE under a bus right now and starting with a fresh partnership with Iran. 100x more resources of various sorts located (gas, oil, gold, etc) in Iran than those countries combined. China is cleaning up there.

    He's also a patriot.

Nah. I get the hate for Trump, but this is too far a stretch. He'll get financing from supporters within the US, without any need to sell himself to foreign interests. He'll lose most of his "empire" but he'll remain filthy rich in comparison to most people.

Its not really. Those ''videos'' Russia is supposed to have are actually with Israel. And there not just of Donald Sr. This is why they squeeze so much out of him. Look up the pictures of Trump with Epstein and Joe Casablanca (2 pedos). A young Ivanka and Eric also present..........

He can't shift any of his skyscrappers/office blocks he has on the market for the past year and the Bank of China is about to call in his loans. The bloke is fuked, both home and abroad and this is why he is a danger.

Rumours he is leaving for Israel 21st Jan.

The old adage one cannot exist without the other ,

If Iran was to fall to say outside interference ,can you imagine the sheer Chaos that would ensue ,Iran , Syria ,Iraq and yemen(already there) would become failed states and a huge swathe of terror groups occupied land , divided on what ever sect you happen to follow ,
And the biggest available stock pile of weapons flooding the streets, and millions more people fleeing to the EU

And how many Missiles do you can they hold ,
I'd imagine they would have big enough footprint and energy needs

Nobody really gives a crap about Palestine because it never amounted to anything except talk and headaches. For everyone. Even the Arab nations, didn't want Palestine to exist past it's original creation.

There's a huge difference between Palestine and Iran. Namely 81 million people. Palestine 4,5 million? maybe?

The US and others have talked reconstruction before with both Iraq and Afghanistan.. they're still leaving a remarkably unstable regions behind them, and it's highly questionable what they have achieved beyond making money, and testing military hardware/tactics in the field.

The time when people automatically accepted what the US wants is long gone. Now, whether anyone can do anything about it is another question... but people would care, and if they didn't, they would learn quickly to care about it later.
The lunatics are not in Iran.

    Completely agree.

I don't see much evidence of that patriotism in a lifetime of tax evasion, fraud, lies and ruined small businesses who were never paid. JFK bent the rules to see active service in WWII despite suffering from a potentially deadly disease and Trump did the opposite, inventing bone spurs to hide from Vietnam. Right now he's trying to crush faith in the voting system for his own benefit. As regards leaking secrets, he's already done that while bragging to the Russians and we have a very incomplete record as to what he said to Putin in the meetings we know about. Given his arrogance, spite and ignorance, he may well leak for reasons other than money.

We are getting a bit off-topic here and the Israel/Palestine situation is not a topic I get involved with too often but..every nation deserves the right to self-determination. That principle applies to Palestine as much as it does to India. If 4 or 5 million people don't matter, why should any foreigner bother taking about Ireland? With the cooperation of America and the tyrants of the Arab world, the Israelis are being allowed to move to a permanent 1.1 state solution where they will get nearly all of the land in the West Bank with virtually none of the people. The Palestinians will then be locked into isolated enclaves where they won't even control their own water rights. If that's not Apartheid we'll have to find an equally ugly word for it. And it does matter.

As opposed to evidence for national treason? Yeah. No.

But I'm not interested in the slightest, in arguing over Trump.

It doesn't matter in the context of the original post... I know that boards is a bastion of support for Palestine. I'm not getting into a right to exist argument because it has no relevance to what I said.

Sorry, I should have been more specific, when I said conventional, I meant conventional warfare between military forces in the field.

The Six Day war 1973 Israel wipped Syria's arse ..decisive victories.
The Arab countries managed to salvage their defeats after repeated losses in the 1948, 1956 and 1967 wars with Israel.
And in the air, complete dominance by Israel.

What part of conventional warfare is the problem?

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,038 ✭✭✭rapul

It was about a conventional war between Israel and Iran nothing to do with what you said above has any relevance, Syria has nothing to do with this or any previous war as Iran was not involved

Apparently Iran new claim is Israel used a remote weapon to carry out the Assassination which was controlled by satellite ,
Which is interesting ,it seems they are suggesting some kind of new drone system was used .

It's possible they did use a remote weapon system , which was then removed from Iran before they could react ,
They famously tracked a senior hizbollah commander and tuned his mobile into a IED which blew his head when he used the phone while mossad was waiting on him make a call and varifiy it was him via voice recognition

there wasnt a lot of damage to the car, Im guessing a drone would just use a rocket, or do they have sniper rifles now ...gulp! ?

There's definitely bullet holes and targeted at that ,it wasn't riddled it was a handful hit the windscreen ,
They could have used a drone to drop a small diameter bomb too which they developed to kill a target inside a vehicle without causing collateral damage outside of it ,

TEHRAN, Iran — A top Iranian security official on Monday accused Israel of using “electronic devices” to remotely kill a scientist who founded the Islamic Republic's military nuclear program in the 2000s.

Ali Shamkhani, the secretary of the country’s Supreme National Security Council, made the comment at the funeral for Mohsen Fakhrizadeh, where Iran's defense minister separately vowed to continue the man’s work “with more speed and more power.”
State TV’s English-language Press TV earlier reported a weapon recovered from the scene of the attack bore “the logo and specifications of the Israeli military industry.” State TV’s Arabic-language channel, Al-Alam, claimed the weapons used were “controlled by satellite,” a claim also made Sunday by the semiofficial Fars news agency.

None of the outlets immediately offered evidence supporting their claims.

“Unfortunately, the operation was a very complicated operation and was carried out by using electronic devices,” Shamkhani told state

ultimately the public will never hear the real facts, a lot of that sounds like Iran spoofing, Iran's information isnt credible at the best of times.

The main takeaway is Iran's hands are tied, they cant really retaliate as I assume they are thinking they want to do a deal with Biden.

    That's it ,

Just looking at the car again there doesn't seem to be evidence of a protracted battle either ,
They'd definitely be better sitting down with biden if there is a huge risk with retaliatory strikes against Israel or the US ,
