I'd much rather a policy of "practical" zero covid or something similar to limit the total economic damage in the long run, yes. The costs of letting it rip amongst working class communities and meat factories (ie a significant portion of the population dies or suffers from health complications) would be in the long run worse than lockdown, not also counting the fact that consumer spending in such a situation would crash and more companies would become insolvent. I'm not in favour of lockdown because I think it's the best strategy, I'm in favour it because the government has completely failed to produce a workable alternative, just letting it spread not being an option.

That is a lie and everyone already knows it.

Cool. So RT is a factually reporting news station. And I thought that they are russian government propaganda mouthpiece.

This is what is outright funny. If you agree with some point you are ready to declare bearer of news literally a saint.

    Totally unfair.

Who are you to judge people. Who are you to say you are right and they are wrong

But totally true. There is no case whatsoever to wear one outside. None. That means anyone who walks outside with a mask on is afraid. Very afraid. Of what exactly?

It is not judging it is just observing and analyzing situation.

Strictest restrictions in Europe according to the radio.

Gyms and golf courses shut to protect citizens from a disease that primarily targets obesity.

Gyms are definitely closed, golf courses are probably to, what's the craic with your other statement about obesity?

I gather you never went to play golf. Or maybe you are one of those who use those small electric cars to move from hole to hole and have a boy carrying your bats.
And if you fail to see what the gym does with obesity...

Were there fines in the 1st lockdown? I don't think so.

Dublin folks were all over Connemara during the Easter holidays.

On the roads yes. Someone we know got fined,

So pretty much looks like click & collect retail remains open, DIY also and intriguingly this wording

"the following outlets, insofar as they offer services on an emergency basis only"

So I read from this mobile phone shops can remain open for emergency basis only?( just using this as an example, there are others) . And yet carphone warehouse, 3 happily reporting all their stores remain "Fully Open", if there not a contradiction here? Not sure about Vodafone or Eir but I'd assume they are remaining open.

Not withstanding the obvious contradiction, travelling beyond 5km not allowed and most other retail outlets shut, you'd wonder what exactly is the point here. I get an emergency service but fully open and yet other high street outlets forced to closed seems grossly unfair.

Isnt it that you can not travel outside 5km as in without reason - excercising walking and such.
Then there is shopping for essential stuff - like pretty much everything can be deemed essential with exception of getting new furniture... There was no 5km limit to go to get food.

From what I can see, Medicines & food seem to be the only items mentioned, I understand the list can't be exhaustive but it seems to me if the list not defined then any notion a Garda can stop and more importantly fine you seems absurd. Can for example a can of Paint in woodies be deemed essential, or a screen protector for your phone? Just saying

Yeah, but they are not going through your bags and boot. All you need to say (and what everyone was doing first time anyway) is that you are on a way to shop to get your essentials. Simple.
Would not work well in the night but even then emergencies can be invented, like needing milk for a kid or whatever.
That is a comedy central - the more exemptions you add the more you make it dysfunctional.

Anyway no restrictions for me as I have to carry on as usual. It is actually worse as now after a day of work I will have to queue in shop with restriction crew which will flock from shop to shop looking for a chat to ease their boredom. Happened first time and will be worse this time.

It is problematic to declare some news factual and other disinfo when coming from the same source which by the way is considered as not reliable.
And all that based on your own personal belief or when it supports your narrative.

Fair points but I'm still wondering how a Retail Business can remain fully open when the Rules state clearly, emergency basis only? It is comedy central and I guess my point is, there is no fairness or consistency here. Dare I say, should it not be all or nothing (And no, I'm not advocating full lock down), I think the bookshop owner (now shut) , neighbouring a mobile phone shop fully open & not supposed to be fully open, might be feeling a little Pissed off and rightly so.

Obesity puts people at severe risk from Covid.

Not to worry, netflix and gyms shut for 6 months will see to prevent that problem

of course obese people are more at risk for many things, but covid doesnt give a sh1t about that

No, Covid does give a ****, and disproportionately affects obese people.

If it didn’t give a ****, it would effect them equally

It’s not true though, I know for a fact that we had a relation die in hospital in the last lockdown and was allowed someone by their side also a health care worker responded to your previous post on this questioning your statement since they were permitting one visitor.

You also failed to respond to my post in which I highlighted that even if we went this route all the ani-restrictions posters are calling for where we open up and protect the vulnerable then hospitals would have to be even more restricted than they are now.

Its not true? I know you live in your own little drink driving fantasy world but surely not even you are deluded enough to go down that road? It is absolutely ****ing true and I couldn't give a toss about your imaginary little facts.

I will say, if some health care worker responded to my post then I must have missed it, but I doubt that very much since I wasn't ever even asked the very simple question of where the hospital was. This is just another lie from you.

And as to your point about hospitals having to be even more restricted, even just the question demonstrates the complete lack of nuance you have. Living with Covid in society does not in any way mean that people have to die on their own in hospitals, that you even think that shows yet again that you don't know what you are talking about.

Your fixation with drink driving is odd considering your views on restrictions.

They are not allowed to be within 2 metres of anyone outside their house hold and since they are kids that will either ignore or not understand this they should not be let out.

Another big advantage of living in the country, no just “going out to play”. Much easier to keep kids and teens under control.

Well if I lived anywhere near you my daughter wouldn’t be going out to play in case she got killed by you on one of your infamous drink driving escapades.

Here they are closing the shops, in Poland they are opening more often to avoid the crowds hahahah

I'm in Warsaw, it's a completely different place.
Everything shut by 9pm, masks indoors and outdoors and there are videos already of people becoming aggressive towards those that don't wear them.
I wouldn't be in a hurry to brag about how Poland is better right now.

I’d love to get a glance at certain posters in real life here- it would be very revealing I reckon.
