Big Sam should quit on health grounds before he is sacked.

I foolishly thought he'd steadied the ship against Liverpool.... I was wrong. In hindsight, quite possibly his ego took over for that game and he thought he'd empty the tank against the PL champs to show that he, as a manager, can mix it with the elite.... with the resulting hammerings in the following 2 games.

9-0 over two games since the drew at Liverpool
What a shocking result that was for Liverpool

Thinking the exact same, seems the sort to do that. Prioritising games over teams with no hope of catching doesnt seems the smartest move

What does this even mean? If West Brom aren't emptying the tank every single game it's no winner they are going down.

This. West Brom were no better against Liverpool than they have been in other games. We were just dire on the night. Makes it easier to gloss over the dropped points by creating a narrative that West Brom elevated their performance against us that much.

It's obvious what it means. Relegation-threatened teams have been known to play weakened teams against the top tier teams with the view being that points against fellow strugglers or mid-table teams were then more achievable once the first-teamers were back rested. It would be unusual for a team in 19th place to put their heart and soul into a game against a title contender when there are plenty of other games to be played in a convoluted period.

Both can exist. I think Liverpool were poor on the night and WBA played quite well.

I could be wrong but based on the points the bottom three are accumulating, 30 could easily be the magic number for survival this year.

Brighton are lucky those three are so piss poor, in many seasons they'd be bottom at this stage with 14 points.

I don’t know how much more of Lee Dixon’s commentary I can take before my will to live disappears entirely. He says the same empty things over and over again and is so amused by himself.

    Do I contradict myself?
Very well then I contradict myself,
(I am large, I contain multitudes.)

I find most of the ex Arsenal lads either incredibly annoying, biased or just ****e. Dixon doesn’t make me swear at the TV as some of the others though.

I see reports surfacing on twitter that Mendy held some sort of a New Years Eve party,Don't want to post the links here until it's from a more reliable source in case there is no truth in the story. If true how long more can City let there players away with so much indiscipline?

Big day for Pep and Lampard. Which means Frank will sit back and try not to lose.

Pep has been speaking about it, so there is some truth to the story.

For a club riddled with COVID, Man City are able to name a very strong side today. They still have enough to leave Fernandinho, Mendy, Mahrez & Aguero on the bench, along with a Champions League winner!

Well if it didn't suit them it'd be postponed. Like the Everton game was.

A lot of teams sleeping on Thiago Silva at corners/free kicks this year because hes not the tallest but probably is one of the best attackers of an aerial ball around. Expecting a cagey affair here in open play and could be settled by a set piece.

Cant see how that benefited them one bit. Its just really pushing the can down the road and they're better off facing Everton when they're also knackered (and had injuries) than later in the season when City are likely to be far more congested fixture wise.

People dont really think these basic agendas they have through.

Good to see Werner in his best position today. Think we'll see a far better performance from him than the last few weeks.

So the City covid cases are:
    Ederson
    Garcia
    Walker
    Torres
    Jesus
    Mendy*

    That correct?

Chelsea denied what looked like the clearest penalty of the weekend.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 38,742 ✭✭✭✭BorneTobyWilde

Not sure it was a penalty, he stepped over the ball, and then the ball hit side of his foot, passing the ball onto his left foot. Took the player out doing it, but the touches make it good.

i thought he more stepped across werner without winning the ball but would need to see it again

You feel if City continue and give Chelsea a thumping that's the end of Lampard

Looks like after this Lampard's Chelsea will only be 3 points above Arsenal, who have had a shocking season.
