    Is this premises still open?

I'd assume so as they did nothing wrong.

If you look at the coverage and look at it without a "covid hat" its about 6 people in a decent sized area and some alcohol being poured from a distance into their mouths.

I think the outrage is that young people are laughing and enjoying themselves. It's not over crowded, in fact not in anyway crowded and whilst not perfect, it certainly does not deserve the outrage that it has got and the bullying and personal attacks on people who organised it.

Funny how all those who have aggressively attacked the organiser are hiding behind anonymous names. Pure bullying and a very sad reflection on the wild hysteria stoked up by some people.

I 100% agree with Michael McNamara that the hysteria is as bad as the disease itself.

But watch all 4 clips with an open mind as people may take a different perspective.

    Where's the overcrowding?
    Where's the direct contact?

Seems the problem is many can't stand the sight of young people having fun.

There's pubs open, house parties and double standards all over the country. Maybe make a minimum mandatory food purchase with all off license sales or else open them all up. at the moment we're just promoting speakeasy's and shibeens.

I think a lot of people feel it is profoundly unjust stuff on Saturday is allowed while a lot of small pubs are still closed. And behavior like that could spoil it for a lot of other businesses playing by the rules. If I was a pub owner I would be seriously annoyed that if I had to be closed while someone else happily ignores the rules without much punishment. I don't believe place should be closed but they should be fined and any financial supports (wage subsidy scheme, rates deferrals, re-opening grants) should be stopped or in case of re-opening grants repaid. They can break the rules but not while being supported by the state at the same time.

I went into my leisure centre to go to the gym yesterday. There was matches taking place on the 5 a side pitches. We can't just be outraged because some people don't decide to sit down and act all solemn during the pandemic. People are human. Give them some booze and a bit of human contact and that is what will happen. It's happening everywhere. They're retarded to do it in a public space but that's a different point

We are not outraged, a chara, we just see it as stupid and irresponsible.

Just as we probably would see it stupid and irresponsible if cars kept speeding with no regard outside a school.

(Not that I know who Soros is but Stefan Molyneux said it).

He wrote "The Alchemy of Finance" which is a great book (I loved it) and is a predatory millionaire with no moral core who will do anything for money, and inserts his influence into politics quite comprehensively. Heaven forfend we should be non-trusting of someone like that.

Bullying is people flouting restrictions, putting at risk the lives and wellbeing of others having sacrificed so much already, all because you want to ‘socialize’.

“Hysteria is as bad as the disease itself”... has hysteria killed 1774 people in this country and infected over 27,000 others ? This McNamara yoke needs a good psychologist and fast, followed by locking up never mind lockdown.

Overcrowding is everywhere, people are not socially distancing , in most situations they can’t so overcrowded.

It's an extremely suitable phrase for many of the people in this thread.

Just look back a couple of pages - you have people posting pictures of a woman from Instagram - essentially stalking and ridiculing her.

Did any of ye actually think of the harm ye might be causing this woman from your actions? A braying social media mob.

You've other people screaming about being "essential workers" so we need to put all the people back in the pub and destroy it with them inside.

The majority in the thread are arguing, at a time of high unemployment and business closures, that we should close this business and make more people unemployed - because they were dancing.

What a pathetic bunch of people you have all become.

Poor Pat always gets things arseways, in the Brenno’s opinion.

You see there’s plenty of regulations, but no what?

    Correct...enforcement, it’s called folks.

When a bunch of scones go doo lalyy in a pub, breaking every regulation, what does Pat try to do?

Correct......try to close down every outlet going ,ban off sales, bring in prohibition!!

What should Pat do I hear you ask.?

Quite simple, enforce the regulations and if there are none legally, enact them and go after the scones, the owners, the management staff and make sure they remember the event AND that their fellow travelers will well remember that.

In other words......go after the perps.......with the big hammer.....and swing it.

    Word will get around.

Then the Bren need’nt worry about the few cans out in the garden o er an odd weekend.

    Everything cool!!!

You do realise that this carry on actually endangered livelihoods of a lot more pubs who have to stay closed. When the trade organisations come against business then you know the behaviour on Saturday was against the interest of their members.

You are not really good at thinking this though are you?

  • Registered Users Posts: 24,887 ✭✭✭✭Strumms

Yep, enforcement needs to be the deterrent, while I know a couple of pubs that were raided when they were supposed to be closed, it’s not publicized or heard of much so is it happening much ? Need ‘distancing inspections’... ok the meal thing is bs but I’d rather it than not.

Again though we need MM on TV... the Garda Commissioner, whoever, warning those who would risk the public health of the citizens of this state for profit and informing of what the consequences will be... license gone, business gone.. prosecution, good luck and fûck ya.

Needs to be a visible deterrent...through LEADERSHIP.

    License gone

    Business gone

Month behind bars with no visitors (covid)

All reported in detail on the news.

Not many gonna risk it for that kind of consequence... it will be batten down the hatches, take your covid payment and be thankful.

Oh, I forgot. It's a small group of people dancing that is actually endangering livelihoods and keeping pubs closed.

So it's only retarded if you get caught doing it? People are gonna reap what they sow doing that. Pretty myopic to have your 5 a side and birthday diners in the "restaurants" only to be told you have to stay inside again except for essential purposes. No one wants to go back to that...

Certainly will be contributing, no health specialist is going to see that and go, ‘yep, be grand’... that's one pub, of thousands, approximately 3,500 in fact.

You're starting to sound a bit like a "Karen" yourself. I guess it's the smoking gun of an egregious example of what's happening everywhere. People are saying it's meat factories to blame, others blame pubs like this, but don't mind bollox Joe.ie articles, it's a bit of all the above

Ehm yes it is. Because if they are worried this will go on in pubs all over the country when people are drunk they will keep pubs closed. Trade organisations (The Vintners and the other one I can't think the nane of) called for Gardai to act because they know this is means it's less likely wet pubs will be able to open. So yes those morons are making situation for all other pubs worse and endangering livelihoods of people working in pubs all over the country.

Our mission initially, which the vast majority of the population agreed with, was to lockdown so we could flatten the curve, build capacity in our health system, learn more about the virus, and successfully manage the consequences.

We've done that. We're 5 months on. Deaths and hospital admissions numbers have fallen off the cliff.

What are we doing now? Screaming about people dancing. Taking part in braying mobs stalking and ridiculing people online. Continuing with locking up of young people and children.

Good call Strumms, leadership is sadly lacking.

Seems to me that a lot of the new lot who have come in are ‘afraid’ to put their heads o er the parapet in case they annoy the vested interests and jeopardize their re-election chances.

When have we heard from The Taoiseach, the Education Min., Colleary, McGrath, Darragh O’Brien etc recently.

    I certainly haven’t anyway.

Time for people in charge to ball up and take charge, on of the auld ‘aaaah shure it was only one or two’ fcukkery.... time to get on top of this whatever vested interest come against you

    We await in hope.....
