!!! Penfailed it was you! Ive just remembered.. you posted identical post back in June, if you replace "riots against government" with protests against covid restrictions. Boy were you wrong :)

If you call a few conspiracy theorist loons, a few nazis and a few misguided souls numbering around 2000 in a country with a population of 5 million a protest...then okay, you got me. If I recall correctly, you predicted that they would actually be happening June though...it's only taken three months for a few people to catch up with you.

You shouldnt feel embaressed for that. You should be embaressed for our incompetent governement, for large parts of population lacking any sense of critical thinking and more importantly remember that govt had 6 months to improve healthcare, they did nothing and now 12 people are sitting in chairs or on benches in Limerick hospital in the corridors as they dont even have spare trolleys there anymore, now thats a reason to feel embaressed as an Irish person.

Why is it that anyone who happens to agree with the restrictions had to be devoid of any critical thinking? As if somehow they are pure plebs who agree blindly with the media and government. That's the same ould shíte that gets thrown about by conspiracy theory nut jobs when people won't believe them that the lizard people are trying to take over the world. Open your eyes man! Do some research. Make up your own mind. The Man is out to get you. It can't ever just be what it is, there's always some hidden agenda. There are plenty people who agree with the restrictions doing plenty critical thinking, plenty research and deciding that they would rather go with what the general consensus is amongst the most intelligent people worldwide than what some arséholes who think the world is flat, or 9/11 was faked or whatever other conspiracy crap they are having that day.

They're not incompetent. It's just your pure ignorance that brings you to that conclusion.

Havent you seen the post above - outdoor dinning recommended by NPHET at end of September? And you ask why people supporting government are seen to lack critical thinking? Museums shutting down too, totally makes sense to you?

Bergamo? You d think if covid was this deadly rampant disease youd have more material by now (September) than referring to northern Italy.

Instead all you have are thousands of confirmed covid cases around Europe daily nowadays sharing 1 symptom - being perfectly healthy.

The point I was making is that it is better to be proactive when there is a rise in cases heading to ICU than waiting until it hits 100 and then starting to try and hold back the tide. We'd have hospitals in Dublin like something from Bergamo. And why wouldn't we? Covid cases in in top of flu cases. Why not be proactive and make an attempt to avoid that scenario? It isn't incompetence or some attempts at something more sinister. It's just sensible precautions.

Yes. Absolutely. Why doesn't it. Are you for real? They're making attempts at reducing the amount of contacts at a time where cases are rising at a time where ICU numbers are starting to rise, coming into flu season. They are trying to get ahead of it. That's sensible.

Very. Were you impressed with me remembering your "no covid protests" prediction?

Btw you lied, I always said protests will start in Sept as thats after PUP wraps up (was scheduled to be cut end of Aug back then). It got reduced and that was actually enough lol.

You should feel embarrassed. Your alternative view is dangerous. What are you protesting against?

Well just for starters as I’m going to bed, destroying the airline industry with a joke 14 day quarantine and so called green list, at odds with the rest of Europe.

For many, Michael O’Leary is the airline industry and with our usual begrudgery, elicits no sympathy. Most of the employees of those companies must be stressing about bills and mortgage pmts now.

Apart from the actual airlines, there are thousands of support service jobs that you wouldn’t even think of supplying Aer Lingus and Ryanair. I heard of someone who works for a company which specialises in VAT for airlines, doing SFA for months now. There is barely a word about all of this.

Secondly, dropping all other health services, special needs services etc. I don’t think Breastcheck is running yet.

They are just two of many reasons why I am going to the next protest.
    Goodnight.

Ok, they're incompetent. Sack NPHET and the government. Let the lads with no masks march into the Dail chanting ole ole and give them a go at sorting this all out. There won't be anyone calling them incompetent come January will there?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,863 ✭✭✭✭road_high

I really don’t think these restrictions will do anything. They’ll only encourage gathering in uncontrolled environments. Which may actually see numbers increasing.

Or people from Dublin will flock to all parts of the commuter belt.

And even if numbers do come down, won’t they just go back up when the restrictions are lifted? What then? Keep locking down until the borrowed money runs out?

These restrictions will achieve nothing. Like all the ones we’ve had before did. Anyone feel free to come back in 6 weeks and Prove me wrong ...nphet and co will still be foundering around like idiots in the deep end and Covid 19 will still be endemic and this utter farce will still be going around in circles

Fair enough. Jobs over lives. Best of luck chanting ole ole through Dublin. O'Leary will be very grateful.

Why not go and have a look at the crowd-if you don't like what you see or hear you can always leave. As I said here after the protest on 22/8-it's pretty much the same demographic range as a GAA championship match.

There was one crowd last week that asked everyone to bringing their own national flag to the protests but they were shouted down by the 'patriots', so it's dominated now by right wing 'patriot' loonies.

This really shouldn't be a political issue but unfortunately it is..

ctually we were all doing fine until two things happened. The meat factories caused huge clusters from lack of social distancing, but that was never enforced or investigated and you have yer hole if you think schools are not driving cases. Back to school days are not just school settings..it's a whole culture of kids been lon lockdown and bored all summer. when they go the shops for lunch or go outside to sit on the grass, they do what?? the all huddle together and look at one smart phone video while they all laugh. when they laugh, the sputum goes on the phones...how do we operated the phones??with our hands!! pass the phone to one another to swipe through what's essentially an agar dish now!!

Im fed up hearing doctors lay the blame on private homes..

It's a difficult balancing act to try and keep the economy going while not allowing cases to rise to a point where the hospitals won't be able to manage it. Not everyone is going to be ok with the choices made that affect peoples livelihoods. Difficult an all as it is I still think your wrong to decide to protest alongside conspiracy theory nut jobs who are out protesting everything and anything on a regular basis. In my view your not helping.

So people financially impacted are against the restrictions because of the financial impact only. Nothing to do with whether the restrictions are the right thing to do or not?

so where is the data now on deaths?? why are we not hearing the age/setting and underlying conditions?

where was the data from your HSE doctors when they hid a letter from their solicitors saying "expect payouts in the millions" for the cervical check scandal.

where was the data when your doctors signed an indemnity clause for pandermix? a drug not tested on teenagers' and 10 times more likely to cause horrendous side affects like narcolepsy. They injected kids with it even after they were warned not to use it by the nordic countries etc.
They are the last people that should dictate policy at this stage, id rather outsource it to the swedes FFS

you'll pardon me if I dont think they have my interests at heart..but you have sweet wet dreams about mr glynn now, go fly now agent starling..fly fly

Lovely. So until we get to 100 we can all go back to normal and then slowly bring in restrictions as it shoots up from 100. Have a look back at Bergamo. That'll be Dublin then.

Dublin has 1.) Nowhere near the population density of Bergamo. 2.) nowhere near the age profile of Bergamo. So no, Dublin will not now, not ever be like Bergamo.
