Got a note from my Sports Therapist to 'refrain' from any short quick speedwork or "very fast stuff" for a little while.

    As a result - I'm out :(

    As a result - I'm out

Out completely or cutting from three attempts down to one?

    Disaster!

    :)

She says to keep doing what I'm doing - Steady stuff / tempo'ish is fine for now.
    Nothing faster.

No big deal - its only a bit of fun anyway - I can do a TT in a few weeks.

Where can I find one of these 'Sports Therapists'? I'm up the wall here and need an exit strategy, quick.

It’s only a mile lads. Quick recovery. Middle distance so not overly explosive (unless you blow up). :p

Number of them floating around this thread I believe. :D

It's just like school all over again. The panic of not having homework done and needing a sicknote to get off the hook :P

If your name is on this list please make sure you are a member of the Strava group and post your Boards name on it in the Posts section. At the moment we don't have Strava names for Zebra3 or Yaboya .....time to extract finger folks :P

Also, there are a few more people on the Strava club than the 99 on the list here. Any names on the Strava list that we cannot connect to a Boards username will be deleted on Friday so that only runners on the above list are in the Strava group.

    Thanks again folks...smile.png

I'm just asking this for a friend....lets call him Groundskeeper Willie.

He has never raced anything approaching this distance. What should he do as a warm up for this TT?

Same as any race. 1-2 mile, dynamics if thats what you like to do, strides, good to go

    I'm out - DNS. :(
Pulled a muscle doing gardening last weekend, still not 100%.
Able to run but with some discomfort, especially on the faster stuff
If this was a race I would suck it up but no point for a TT.
    'til the next one.

Lift his kilt and run around the track a few times :)

I was looking at my estimated best efforts on Strava with 3:10 for 1km and 5:11 for a mile. Yet with no specific I put down 4:59 as a my pridiction.

What's the shortest distance above a mile you have raced? If the best estimated mile was done during a 5 or 10K race or as part of a session then you have plenty of scope to improve on 5:11....

If it makes you feel any better, my prediction of 5.15 is not in line with my recent race times.

    +1 on this

(Although I would take this atm) strava given my 4.57 and that was from a 2 mile race. It is still 16 sec off the PB so using that as a predictor is generally selling yourself short even in shorter races.

it has me at 4.51 which seems pretty accurate , it has my 10k at 45min, i wouldnt like to find out

Wasn't that from a mile TT though? That is simply taking that data and leveling the elevation.

Estimated best is simply pulling your fastest ran mile on strava and adjusting for elevation so if you don't run the mile the figure will simply be a split

Just joined the Strava group there - apologies for tardiness, been caught up with work so haven't been on boards as much - no specific training done so expect to miss my goal by a lot!!

    We'll figure out something. Haha.

Even 50/50 split with a rule of one beer drank per every seven results logged in the file.
