Why is the broadcasting fee being wasted on a doco about an ex RTE employee who has been dead for a decade?

I’m sorry, but for me the programme is a complete non event.

The guy was a TV and radio presenter, there are first line responders out there right now that deserve more airplay.

I see he played RTE for fools in the contract negotiations, not unlike some modern day presenters.

Sounds a lot like exactly what D'Arcy followed with.

That 'Secrets' looks far better than 'The Ray D'Arcy Show'! :D

Just watched Paths to freedom on youtube, he was good in that!

Dave fanning is in this documentary.......

Thanks for the heads up ....

The only thing more annoying than Dave Fanning is Eastenders ....

I have always being a fanning fan because of the "music"]
I was never a Gerry fan, a bit like Gaybo i though.
I see them as two opposites, is it loyality?

Did anyone else notice that it wasn't unusual for him to have guests on his show talking about cocaine or other drugs. Now it would always be talking about drugs both taking and selling in a negative light. After his death it make sense, he obviously had a keen interest in the topic.

The only thing ill say for Gerry is that he wasnt some bland PC dullard off the shelf. Id prefer him to alot of todays idiots to be honest. Overall though he was well set for the gravy train long before he was ''discovered''. He was middle class with many many connections,

Joe Duffy just said the word 'orgasm'.

A very sanitised version of events so far..

Are they going to even mention the drug addiction?

Are they going to even mention the drug addiction?

    Maybe they want a repeat...
An inquest showed that the cause of death was cardiac arrhythmia and that traces of cocaine found in Ryan's system were the "likely trigger" of Ryan's death. A considerable public controversy erupted when Ryan's long-term use of cocaine came to light. RTÉ eventually admitted to having given insufficient coverage of Ryan's cocaine habit in the aftermath of the inquest.

That Gordon Ramsey moment was beyond cringeworthy.

    Ryan Confidential was decent.

I reckon Dunphy calling Roy Keane 'beautiful' on it was the death knell for their 'friendship'. Roy cut him loose after that :D

Gerry Ryan was very funny and great entertainment. He was a flawed character also, like many before him. It ended up sad for him but he gave me lots of happy memories when he was at his peak. He was only human like us all.

Would Joe have been next sub after Miriam for LLS?

  • Registered Users Posts: 71,683 ✭✭✭✭Welsh Megaman

Gerry would have made a great LLS host :(

Its a pity he didnt go on and get the Late Late gig. Gerry was able to ask the hard questions and have fun at the same time. Compared to Tubs for example. I dont think he'd have taken too well to have been sanitised and that is effectively why Tubs got the nod over him in the end. Given his lifestyle, would it have been short lived though?

Gerry was a good DJ, the only reason 2FM made sense. They had 3 day of celebrations of Gerry life when he died didn’t they? Should of sent 2fm into the grave with Gerry
