This thread has taken a complete nose dive. Pretty sure the mods banned all of the decent posters who actually had info.

The mods are just dreadful on boards. I'm going back to Reddit

WTF - John Mooney works for the Times, in Bishops Square in Dublin 8. 'UK Press'! - do some research before you hit the keyboards.

Doesn’t matter if he lives in ****ing Africa, it’s a UK based newspaper who obviously aren’t afraid to mention her name when no Irish Media did, bit like McGregors old situation, Irish Media not allowed touch it, New York, well write what we want.

What connections does PC have in Dublin that makes it safe for him to stay on a regular landing in The Joy?
Bar rival gangs, you would think he would be a target for any prisoners in any prison in Ireland over you-know-what at the beginning of the year.
That being said I have heard he is fearless. The Anti-Maguire side def have connections with other criminals and gangs in Dublin, including Coolock as well as the rest of the country. It was not just RL as their muscle and RC as their supplier.

    Pleb

You are a complete **** and patently don't understand liable laws that apply here.

The paper is published here, and importantly, printed here (and do you know that under Irish law the printer, a contracted company, can be held liable for something they printed on their presses?).

Therefore it falls under the same scrutiny that any publication, here in Ireland falls under - that's because it is published and printed here!

If they have decided to print her name, they would be under the same microscope as the rest of the papers.

Granted the parent company is UK based. As is the same for the Mail, Mirror, Sun (oh same company by the way) People etc etc. And by the way, 'pleb', do you know that the Irish Independent is now a 'Dutch Company' so does that give them the same right to print her name?

    FFC - moronic stuff.

Mouth of about something your understand in future like.......... Jesus , who knows.

Nothing on Reddit to even rival this, it was tried multiple times in the times of "no gangland treads allowed " on boards.ie after the first tread and everything moved to twitter.

Even checkhook boxing or ybig(you boys In green) comes from here.

This thread should be busy again in the coming weeks with the Drogheda feud, there’s a few walking around as if nothing has happened, short memories...

You might see some old faces back posting

All the posters are still here, there's no nose dive with the tread, information is light and with all the checkpoints around, it'll pick back up.after restrictions are lifted but there will always a lull with feud or killings.

There's none like here for irish gangland, there's the politics.ie one too beside checkhookboxing (made popular re irish gangsterism by the whistleblower).

Is that wankbag spamming this tread for views? He should stick to English gangs, we have enough of our own Irish armchair reporters/detectives :)

You're the bellend pal, no such thing as lible or "liable" laws in Ireland any more.

It's defamation, and what your man said was right aswell.

Foreign media are not bound by irish laws.

Yes they are once they publish here they're under Irish law and the auspices of the Press Council who regulate them. The poster IE60 knows more about the Irish media industry than most here, hes not talking rubbish to say UK publications who print here can be sued here.

The Sunday times were the first to name Davey Hunt so they aren't easily put off. Hunt is the devil incarnate.

They named that solicitor who is accused of stealing €400 from his client as well, so obviously not shy about naming solicitors.
Cahir O’Higgins, who was the country’s highest-paid legal aid solicitor in 2017, when he was paid €486,997, is accused of the theft of €400 from a Spanish man who was a defendant in a case in July 2016. The theft allegedly happened in a Londis store in Dublin’s Parkgate Street, near the Criminal Courts of Justice.

Ok fair enough, you seem to know your stuff. Why did the Irish Media not name her?

It's now under the single tort of defamation, it was amended in 08 to ratify a lot of potential loop holes. Any form of media or publication that reaches eyes on Irish land is bound by Irish law. It's just the same as criminal law, commit a crime on Irish soil, do your time on Irish soil. Sure the civil law claims here are a load of absolute bolox. How many times have the Sun been done?

A few interesting tidbits came out in the trial of Mark Capper in the SCC yesterday over his abandoned hit on Hutch. For one the Gardai has his car bugged and were listening in on the planning for the hit. He was complaining that the getaway motorbike would cut out when you red line it and worried about the 24/7 ERU presence on Champions Avenue. Paul Reynolds reported that it was the first time in an Irish court that the mechanisms of the Kinahan operation were laid out
During the sentence hearing for Mark Capper (31), the non-jury court heard evidence on how the Kinahan gang operates a hierarchical structure, with compartmentalised “sub-cells” acting independently from one another.

Det Supt Gallagher told the court that the gang developed sub-cells with members who were given activities to carry out by the higher level. He said there were further hierarchical structures within the different cells, while each group would not be aware of what the other sub-cells were doing.

Det Supt Gallagher told the court the sub-cells operate to “benefit and enhance the capabilities” of the criminal organisation.

The cell assigned to murder Patrick Hutch involved up to 10 people, the detective told the court. The plan to murder Mr Hutch involved a ruse to lure him from his home and included participants such as a spotter to give the hit team a signal when he did and the gunman, who would be taken to the scene on a motorbike.

Capper pleaded guilty and is due to be sentenced on June 8th
