We were due to go to Peppa Pig (i know, i know) last April in the Olympia. It obviously didn't go ahead. It has been rescheduled to next January. Do i have to do anything now or do original tickets just carry over?

Originals carry over, if the new date doesn’t suit you can ask for a refund

yeah I guess you're right, there isnt much chance of Gervais going ahead in January so theres no point re-buying the tickets I got refunded from the first cancelled show.

Even if indoor venues were allowed 50% capacity it still probably wouldnt be worth while for international touring artists & promoters. Its just a mess really but what cant they do until a vaccine arrives, its all on that.

Yeah true. I think the issue for gigs that are already sold and gigs into the future is they're selling them at full capacity with no social distancing so hard to see when conditions will be right for them.

Wonder will future for next few years be gigs which smaller crowds can go but then they're filmed so people can watch live online or later. Really feel for the industry.

At least sports has a better hope with matches beeing able to take place in stadium with rooves open. Maybe by next summer here, hopefully music festivals and outdoor gigs could come back with bigger crowds.

See Whelans have cancelled Slow Moving Clouds on 10th September due to covid. Not sure does that mean all the gigs they have scheduled up to 13th September (or even beyond) are now in doubt. Still tickets on sale for gigs before and after so I dunno what the craic is!

I'd say at this point we're looking at no gigs of any medium-large size until 2021, which is quite worrying.

    We can't even re-open pubs :(

Yeah looks like even issues holding the under 50 capacity gigs which some venues planned but Workman's seem to be going ahead with. I don't really see why pubs which serve food are that different from venues where you have to be at a table tbh. Or theatres say. I know National Campaign for Arts have been trying to get clarity and are meeting Stephen Donnelly on it tomorrow.

You'd just worry how many small/medium sized venues will be able to hold on until the crowd sizes can increase. Even larger venues which have more money behind them will probably have to wait the longest and if purely commercial operation may try to get out of market instead of waiting. Very worrying times for anyone working in live music industry now.

The end of 2021. Theres no insurance being offered so bands won't tour. And as the state of play is different from country to country and changing every day, bands won't risk touring in that uncertainty as if the tour gets binned halfway through or a load of dates fall away they'll go bust.

Not sure is this about circumventing requirement for food and/or appeasing publicans that can't open currently. https://www.irishtimes.com/news/politics/government-considering-allowing-alcohol-free-music-events-to-go-ahead-1.4342423?mode=amp

Kino in Cork has done many 50 limit gigs, and many more in their schedule for the coming months. It suits some acts, particularly solo, and most are doing two gigs a night.

Paul Noonan(Bellx1) just announced 4 solo gigs there, over two nights.

Think the issue is for some venues it's not even 50, its 6. Not sure is distinction between venues which are only gig venues vs ones which are pubs too say.

Yeah it's not workable at all. Shows how little government know about logistics of putting on a gig.

As if punters wouldn’t arrived with a few in them anyway. So what good would it do?

Yeah exzctly. If anything would incentivise people to drink more beforehand. Might appease publicans who can't open. Seems more political than having any basis in public health tbh.

What sort of a committee is coming up with this ****e? Do they have input from ANYONE from the business?

The French are currently running all shows under 5000 without social distancing. Must be seated and masked but otherwise, work away. We'll know soon enough how that's working out.

I missed out also, I did see him last year solo, great show 50/50 solo & Bell x1. Would definitely go again.

If he is playing 4 in the Kino, it won’t stop there, there will likely be more gigs at other venues.

God I miss gigs, not just the gig itself, the day out too, pre food/drinks maybe the odd museum visit etc

Jan 2020 had about 8 gigs spanning the year and only 2 of them took place. The rest are rescheduled 2021 could end up a great year gig wise but not feeling confident

At least there's small size gigs ahead. Workmans has a few gigs and Kino in Cork too. Think Whelans is hoping to have some too. Talk of spectators being allowed back at matches in the government plan out next Tuesday so might pay way for more gigs and gigs with bigger attendances hopefully. And see NCH have launched small gigs for next month

Wouldn't be too confident of 3Arena sized gigs happening Jan-May 2021 with the 'Living with Covid' plan been released on Tuesday

Have 2 gigs in that timeline myself (The Who and Genesis). Would more than anything to have go ahead as scheduled but with this governments approach sadly not

Me neither. I think attendances at outdoor sports will be good indicator but even then will be a while before big indoor gigs come back. Bon Iver in 3 Arena was postponed from May to January and now to October so sign that it might be end of the year or next before gigs like that will be back unless there's a vaccine or better treatment in the meantime.

According to the plan indoor gatherings will be limited to a maximum of 100.
Based on the drafts of the new plan circulated to senior government figures in recent days, the best-case scenario - level one - there will be no more than 10 visitors from three households allowed in a person's home, indoor gatherings will be limited to 100 people, and outdoor gatherings will be limited to 200 people.
There will be exemptions for sporting events where between 400 and 500 people can attend, subject to a venue having a capacity of at least 5,000.

So looking like no concerts until at least next April.

With that the summer concerts may be the first back and then 3arena gigs will follow shortly

Jesus I'll never get to see The Who and Genesis

Sadly Toots Hibbert won't be with the Maytals next September as he passed away last Friday from covid, was hoping the Dun Laoghaire gigs were going to be rescheduled again for 2021 but all that has gone up in the air. I've not played my live session (trad music) since early March and missing it like hell now, we'll be lucky to get it back before Xmas.

If you want to get into it, you got to get out of it. (Hawkwind 1982)

Very unlikely he'll make it now.

I can't see there being any concerts - even severely socially distanced ones - come next April either, tbh.
