The guy must have a huge network of friends and family in London. Its simply not credible that he has to drive 260 miles for child care

I suspect the guy doesn't actually have that many friends

Now saying that the coverage over the last few days could cause people to break the rules and not him.

He says he maybe should have made the statement earlier but he didn't.

Guess that was before his 'story' was written and polished.

This can’t actually be real; can it?? This is just pathetic stuff.

No need for an opticians!!! Just drive to a castle to see if your eyes are good

12th April is day 13 after he had symptoms.

28th March is day 2 after his wife had symptoms.

Why was he leaving his house during either of those dates?

He sure as hell apologies to absolutely no one.
    His stubbornness knows no bounds.

Beth Rigby not holding back here, best set of questions by far.

the public anger is all the media's fault

Gotta like Beth Rigby. This guys trying to blame the media (where've we heard that before). She's got him sweating, somewhat surprising the BBC questioner wasn't quite softballing, either.

Did he just write down "remember to have Beth Rigby killed"?

Now it is the media's fault for the anger of the people. Despicable. Actually, scratch my previous post, he will not apologise for anything and he is obviously better than the other plebs.

And, why come back to London to work? Couldn't he telecommute?

  • Moderators, Science, Health & Environment Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 24,087 Mod ✭✭✭✭robinph

Beth Rigby just gave him an easy out of "should you have done different" and he still didn't take it.

He is completely incapable of admitting that he even made one tiny mistake.

He said he was in a bad shape hence why not asking Boris. Yet at the start he went up in case he got ill. Wonder which was it

Cummings to the media: "I only hit you because you annoy me"

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,596 ✭✭✭Enzokk

Nice question on when the PM knew what, Cummings getting tetchy.

  • Moderators, Politics Moderators Posts: 39,062 Mod ✭✭✭✭Seth Brundle

Is he rattled now over the Q about how long Boris knew?

  • Registered Users Posts: 13,077 ✭✭✭✭Igotadose

PM didn't ask about it till the story went public. Nice. Refutes what he said earlier.

The good thing about her questioning is not only has she asked him some tough questions and been far more on the front foot, she's also set him up for the follow-up from the next guy (CH4 Political Editor)

Gary from Channel 4 is holding him over the coals somewhat. "Some circumstances you won't be able to follow the rules." Really? I think he's making it up

Is the regular briefing cancelled today?

  • Registered Users Posts: 12,454 ✭✭✭✭AdamD

This has turned very badly now, car crash stuff.

  • Registered Users Posts: 13,077 ✭✭✭✭Igotadose

Will he be gone by the next PMQ?

  • Registered Users Posts: 14,767 ✭✭✭✭Panthro

He's clinging on to that guidance technicality for dear life.
If he'd come out and said "my actions were totally unacceptable and I apologise to the nation" he may have some sympathy.

Trying to put this back on the media is Trump levels of dick move.

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,596 ✭✭✭Enzokk

No Mr Cummings, if you are so ill that you cannot look after your 4 year old then social services will look after him until family can pick him up or you are well enough to do it.

  • Registered Users Posts: 25,440 ✭✭✭✭Timberrrrrrrr

Daily mail ragging him now, questions get harder with each journalist.

  • Registered Users Posts: 13,077 ✭✭✭✭Igotadose

Daily Mail has the gloves off. "You've driven a coach and horses through the spirit of the instructions."

Now his wife suddenly didn't have symptoms before the drive to Durham.
