Just some proof that Af373s and it's counterpart are currently sitting in the rain waiting for their final flights. Got this two hours ago.

Is there a flight number planned for this ferry flight?

    Yes. AF373s

Nothing on the schedules yet. But keep an eye on FR24 or fA.

Last movements from NOC is at 13.25, with a busy airport up yo that time. Which would make sense for an afternoon arrival. Won't know for definite until tomorrow morning.

Not asking for a definitive answer, but in your opinion, looking at tomorrow’s forecast, is it likely to be landing on 27?

Where on the East coast do you think it will pass over?

I suspect coming from Dresden it'd route into Irish airspace via BAGSO so around Dunleer / Clogherhead area.

I'm sorry, I should have explained...here's the Science bit!,,,
    TAF means Terminal Area Forcast.
The next word EIKN, is Knock Airport
191700z means 19=day of the month, 1700z is the time
The rest is basically cloud height, wind direction etc.
The issue is particularly the last string...27019g35kt.
If there is a 35kt gusting wind, I don't think we will have a visitor.

However, this is the West, and although it was stormy all night, it is Calm, and I can see the lights of Knock across the fields. Fingers crossed. I'm off up to the Airport for a gander...:)

    This morning’s TAF:
    TAF EIKN 200500Z 2006/2106 27010KT 9999 BKN020
    TEMPO 2007/2017 4000 -SHRAGSSN BKN010 SCT018CB
    PROB30 2007/2013 1200 -SHSN BKN005
    BECMG 2009/2011 26017G29KT
    BECMG 2012/2014 27022G39KT
    BECMG 2017/2019 25018G28KT
    BECMG 2022/2024 22018G28KT BKN012

    BECMG 2102/2104 22023G38KT
    TEMPO 2102/2106 2000 RA BKN004

Though it’s gusty, it’s close enough to straight down the runway. I’d be more concerned about the forecast of snow, hail and low cloud.

Currently, it’s a 30° crosswind, but cloud and vis look grand:

1555 local arrival time. Be aware times will vary wildly as to its actual arrival time. While planned to arrive at 1555 it could be hours late depending on a multitude of problems getting started out of Dresden.

I’d say there is people parked at NOC already.

Do companies tender for the dismantling/scrapping or do they “buy” the aircraft in the hope they’ll turn a profit on it?

True. Just got word they are doing an engine test run up this morning first. They have taken the covers off the engines and there is activity around the aircraft.

Some of you aspiring pilots might want to check your crosswind calculations. Hint R26 has a bearing of 264 degrees.

    Yup.
The dismantle the airframe and sell on reusable items to other aviation suppliers. Anything left is scrap metal. (getting "converted to coke cans" is the euphemism)
Any airline buying a 2nd hand part will know the full history of that part.
