So is it justifiable to put a child up for adoption because it has autism? Surely that would change the dynamic of a family?

Case of reductio ad absurdum I'd say

Children and dogs are not the same.

Yes, like I said both are part of the family. If you can't stomach having a dog that chews furniture, you shouldn't be allowed children. Anybody who tosses aside any animal or person, because they cause them inconvenience, is wretched slime.

You are honestly comparing a child having autism to a defective dog.

    No, you are wrong.

You need to re read the thread, you’ve got a bit confused and are misquoting posters.

My autistic son is up bouncing on his bed. He will do it for a half hour, poop in his nappy then I will change him and he will go asleep.

My dog and cat sleep out in the sun room/conservatory. Neighbours are allowed complain if the dogs are barking. They know to keep their worries about the bouncing bed to themselves.

You got to appreciate the people that work in kennels at Christmas to look after dogs for people going away for a good time.

Christmas day dogs still need to be looked after.

That’s what they are into. I know a girl who does it. It’s all she wants to do. Christmas Day without a pile of dogs would be a nightmare for her.

    Each to their own.

    .

    Great to hear.

You said in another thread your wife was there to give birth to your children and clean up after you.

I don’t see why people get themselves responsibilities they don’t need that offer no benefits.

Maybe I live an incredibly boring life, but I couldn't agree with this less. There are so many benefits to having a dog.

OP - I don't think you are horrible, but I don't think dogs are for you. That's ok. Kids aren't for me - that's why I don't have any.

Anything else in my fascinating life you want to know about?

And I don’t think I said what you are saying I said.

I had a dog before. Nightmare. Used to poop everywhere. Kept him for two years tried everything. Spent the day barking like a lunatic whenever anybody came near or past the house.

When the bell rang the whole house turned into chaos. My wife was caring for a sick elder relative and it was really hard on that relative just wanting to die in peace. The dog used to crap in his dog bowl. Totally defective. Attacked all other dogs, got snappy with the kids. Nothing could be done to help it.

I gave it to an absolute dog lover who knew it all and they gave it back to me a few days later with an apology. Another family took it and they also gave it back a couple of days later.

He went the kennel. I realised after he went back how much strain it was putting on my whole family. I was later talking to the dogs mother’s owner and they told me she was inbred and had all sorts of ear problems.

Defective dog. Call me names all you want, I didn’t owe that dog the use of my house and life because I took it home with me one day thinking if I walked it twice a day and fed it it might play with the kids and behave himself.

What did you to help the dog with regards to barking at people coming to the house? Or when the door bell rang?
I only ask because I volunteer with a dog rescue/kennel. I’ve done numerous k9 training course. A dog going to the toilet in his/her bowl is a sign of anxiety, which really wouldn’t surprise me reading your post.

Do they teach you to judge people at k9 training school?

I know a hairdresser with anxiety. She takes tablets for it now and again. I’m not too fully up on it she is a friend of a friend. Are you suggesting I caused that too?

Anyone been in this situation before? I

Similar. Only the animal we have can not be left with other people ever and can not be left alone ever ever :)

And if you do leave him alone for any length of time and then come back - he bites your face really hard and you kinda have to let him because it's just what he has to do.

Luckily I feel the same and can't be without him either. I feel naked and vulnerable whenever he is not 10 feet from me - just become used to it over the years. Alas there is not many years left.

    So you did nothing.

I know with our guy we were told by two different dog trainers that he was beyond help. He was the way he was and that was that.

Nothing more we could have done to curtail his behaviour.

He was a rescue dog but quite young when we got him, he was completely batsh*t crazy. It got to the stage where I could not leave him for fear of what he would do, the whole family was stressed and upset.

Not every dog can be helped and it put me off ever have another dog permanently again. The fosters do me just fine and I can hand them back at the end of the foster period guilt free.

Did they teach you in K9 training course that it’s spelt with out numbers. I’m not a specialist but it’s something like canine.

Imagine a doctor saying he did college in d0ct0r school.

Again, you are trying to belittle others. It’s the same rhetoric.

Along with the long list of people you have problems with, you now challenge dog trainers of all people.

    It says more about you.

OP "I run a business, have kids and a lot of other responsibilities in life. I’m questioning why I purposely give myself this extra one"

Curious, what made you get a dog in the first place with all these other responsibilities you have?

I have a five month old Newfie, one old tomcat, then an 18 month old female cat and her three month old kitten who I have only had eight weeks. The Newfie loves everyone, the kitten loves the Newfie and her ma, the ma loves her kitten and the tomcat is living in a Dickens novel, specifically Hard Times. It really is hard work. It's noisy and messy and smelly. Some times I have to just sit in the middle of it with the barking and the cats growling and the kitten trying to go through the television to catch all the moving things. Sometimes the 30kg puppy tries to go through the telly after her. Thankfully Christmas trees are seasonal.

I went to a friend's wedding recently where the puppy went to the kennels and the female cats were shut into a bedroom and tomcat left the run of downstairs. It was such a relief to have the time off! But that's all it was, a break. I took all these animals into my house because they needed somewhere to live (in the cats' case, the dog we chose for our own wants). Yesterday I allowed my husband to take the dog out on his own, hard enough work in itself, on the lead on the roads too because husband doesn't drive and I was just at breaking point and could simply not muster the will or the energy. But today we're back to normal running order. All hands and paws on deck. Taking the kitten out if the turkey gravy. Unwinding the Newfie from the Christmas lights. Acting as security as one adult cat goes out and another comes in, making sure no one fights and no escapees.

I'm going away for a night in January and honestly can't wait. Does that make me a bad person? Totally doesn't. Would I choose to stay away from them forever? Absolutely not. I couldn't.

My dog is gone away for his christmas holidays (a week in the kennels)..

With him gone, I went to bed last night without walking in the cold to clean up a sh1te, my house smells fresh, i got up this morning and had breakfast without looking after him first and don’t have him under my feet for the day! Life is sweet!!

I love him (i think..) but with him gone, I’m realising how much of a clown he is and how stress free life could be without him..

Anyone been in this situation before? I

Sure he's only young. My dog was a lunatic fir first few years. Just walk the ****e out of him he be too bollixed to do anything else then and he will love you more for it. My fella twelve now and he's like my shadow for last ten years understands me a little bit too much at times
