I’ve no axe to grind. It’s my personal opinion based on experience that the commonly held narrative that people from the south side are knobs, while the average True Blue Dub is as sound a man as you’ll ever meet is false.

The True Blue Dub is usually a poorly educated knackball who mistakes vulgarity for wit, and who is jealous of anyone who isn’t as common and lazy as he is.

I know the type well Johnny.

Normally a stumpy c*nt with a ronnie. Loudly braying away in the pub. Wearing a Man Utd Jacket and matching 'gold' Man U ring. A real "Wheh wheh wheh" type. Can't stand those f*ckers.

Yeah, your personal opinion. Your experience. Are you omnipotent?

Not a theory - just another observation, dude. A lot of those gangland dudes you read about have planter and tan surnames - Hutch, Fowler, Molyneux, Thompson, Little, Gibson etc.

It's an interesting one. Some of those might even be Norman?

I have a theory that the best Dubs are actually the children of first generation country people who settled (I'm one of them).

I grew up in Dublin surrounded by people from the country, one of my parents is a protestant (born and raised in Ireland, in no way rich, in no way a unionist etc) and those salt of the earth country people made sure everyone knew where the protestant lived and how awful it was to have an outsider in the area(even though they were born and reared in Dublin unlike the country people coming up to live in their city). My life as a kid was made miserable by the first generation dubliners these people called their offspring, some of those people became absolute scumbags, drug dealers criminals of various shades etc.
We took dogs abuse off of the good auld "proper Irish" around us but the Jewish family across the road got it even worse.

This is the problem with the notions of people like Johnny Flash, you have to take every person as you find them, not make sweeping generalisations based upon your own limited experience.

Goes to show - those good and sober Prods were wasting their time trying to be civil to the miserable, misshapen, incense-swinging, Hail Mary-mumbling clodhoppers and should have just stuck to the tried-and-tested method of whaling fuck out of 'em from horseback with the Cat o' the Nine Tails.

At the weekend when googling wasn't very helpful I stopped and asked for direction in Stillorgan, anyway he has a proper posh Dublin accent, not an OMG south Dublin accent and a very slight air of condensation, I immediately felt my heckles rise despite that fact that he was being somewhat helpful.

Some accents cause some sort of reaction despite there being no bases for the reaction.

A different/similar story can be told the world over. My gran uncle left Ireland for America back in the day and he said the worst abuse he got was from the second generation Irish. Stuff like, "I hear ye sleep with the pigs back in Ireland paddy"

Johnny Flash has the same said to him.

Guilty as charged, Paddy. Porter has, on more than one occasion, caused my standards to drop.

I’m over in Cheltenham at the moment and fairly full to the brim with stout already. Hopefully I’ll pull a filly of my own later, and get a great ride over the chase course.

No you are most definitely wrong. I actually quite like culchies, I have slowly come to accept them over time. It is not really a chip on the shoulder type of thing.

But McCreavy was overlooked with the decentralisation plan, very unfortunate for everyone really.

As I said culchies are fine, it is the climbing, settling ones that move up to the big smoke, they are the problem, they are the ones that phucked everything up.

It is all their fault in fairness, their school choices are elementary after that.

You really should not be giving RTE any credit for the accent, you're reaching too far there pal. Giving RTE credit for anything is not advised, they really don't deserve it.

As I said the accent was developed by ambitious young female culchie types, who wanted rich husbands.

Jaysus will ya skin up for fecks sake.
By the way Mary Lou sounds a bit like this..and she's definitely ambitious

Zero chance of that unless you've booked well in advance.

Saw this on the covid-19 thread and it's amazing.
Over a thousand people have signed this petition, not requesting, but "demanding" that the Leinster Schools Rugby competition be completed.

Signed it myself. I don’t see any problem with ensuring the “integrity” of the competition, as long as it’s safe to do so, even if it’s “behind closed doors”, I see no reason why they shouldn’t play.

My only real “issue” with the Senior Cup final is that it’s two teams from Kildare involved. Gives it more of an air of a “Vinnie Murray” final but that’s neither here nor there.
