Payments to start in the 4th quarter (2019) but no exact date.

If you sold an animal through the mart how would you find out if it had been presented for slaughter within 30 days by an agent or dealer

Would it be on agfood? Can you search by tag no?

And can you find out if it was sold on again or presented for slaughter by the guy who bought off you?

The consultant who does my Glas and discussion group says he can look all that up for me.

Ah ok thanks, I thought you could find that out yourself.

Ah tis probably not worth it in my case ....only sold about 30 in that period ....some were only around 500kg mark so probably didn't go within the 30 days

Interesting that id have to get a third party involved to even find out what id be eligible for ....

If I actually applied for I presume that means subtract minimum 500 off the payment.

How many Sucklers had you calved last year?
Why would you have to subtract €500 of the payment. You can apply in a few minutes on Agfood, no charge for that.

Calved no sucklers... i rear a group of calves from time to time, does that mean I'm not eligible anyway?

My point about the money was I think i can't find out how many were slaughtered within the 30 days on my own ...therefore I have to pay someone for the info at the very least so I may subtract that cost of the payment too

Why don’t you log onto agfood, click the form and the data is automatically generated and if you’re not happy with the reference numbers, just don’t submit the application and delete it.

If you calved no Suckers, sent no cattle for slaughter or sold no cattle in the mart that went for slaughter within 30 days then you're not eligible.

When i applied on Agfood it showed the number of cows calved here last year but it didn't show anything about the four cows i sold in the mart and were killed in the following week. Will be interesting to see if they're eligible.

Yes but I asked previously if I could find out from agfood if the animals I sold in the mart had gone for slaughter within the 30 days.... it appears I cannot so I can't know what payment I would stand to get from the scheme ...or am I incorrect on this?

If the info is there then I can see what I stand to get and decide if it's worthwhile or not ....if the info isn't readily available then I have to get an advisor/consultant to find out ....is that correct?

Log into agfood, click on the new tab on the left hand side called exceptional aid measures. - new application and there is your info.

Thank you, that's mostly what I wanted to know. I'll check that now.

Hmmm...it says Im not currently eligible rather than giving me any detail on what happened the individual animals ...which normally wouldn't be of interest I suppose but is of interest now.

Thing is I have a hard time believing that ...out of approx 30 animals surely one or two tustve been presented for slaughter within the 30 days?

One or two were 600kg or above and I'm fairly sure they were bought by factory buyers..

there should be at least one or two within the 30 days or its unlikely there aren't lets say (but I suppose its possible)

So you really can't get any details about what happened to the animals you sold through the mart you just have to take agfoods word for it that you are not eligible

You could try emailing beam@agriculture.gov.ie quoting your herdnumber. They might help you out.

If you have the full tag number to hand the mart could tell you if/when they were slaughtered. Years ago I had to do up a herd book for a finishing fella near the end of the year & the tag entry section shows the date of slaughter & factory number too.
Not saying they will do it, but they can :pac:

Cheers, think ill try both for the hell/curiosity of it when I get the time with one or two likely candidates from mart dockets.

Scheme probably not really worth my while with such potentially low numbers however.

Your number of cows calved and animals killed or sold and killed within 30 days comes up automatically on the system when you do a beam application

Good luck arguing reference no.’s with DAFM, waste of time imo

If you go to agfood movements out and click on tag no and you will see next move .
Why would you think they were killed within 30 days?

If they aa or he id be very suprised they were as they wouldn't qualify for bonus.
Cows or overage might be different story.

Some were aax and hex I'd be surprised myself if they were killed as they wete a long way off but I sold a couple of smashing lim x montbeliarde through mart that I thought weren't far off ...

TBH I doubt it. IMO most of the monies will be used to pay off/settle merchant feed bills.

To make it worth your while applying you would want 8+ being slaughtered within the 30 days. I finish and have only 4 cattle in that period even though I slaughter nearly 60/year. I would get 400 euro.

However I would have to reduce my nitrates by 5% from the ref period 1/7/20 to 30/6/21 compared to 1/7/18 to 30/6/19. I have two issues first in the reference period I was slaughtering cattle as fast as possible because of the drought. The second is I will have to reduce nitrates across the whole herd.

Even if ref periods were comparable and I had to reduce by 5% about 3 cattle I would lose 600 euro in profit. However because I was slaughtering earlier it might be nearer a 5-6 animal equivilent. I spend more time watching stocking levels than it was worth

You only have to reduce numbers for one year. That's what my teagasc man told me.

It's scandalous that , after IFA getting €50m from Europe, some desk driver fecks it up like that for farmers.
