The 5700 XT is a good card. Beats a 1080Ti even in Cyberpunk as I watched a Gamers Nexus video yesterday.

I used to game at 4K with a 5700 XT.

Yeah, it might be good enough, I think Im likely to want a 6 series in the short-medium term so may as well wait for availability at normal pricing.

Have you tried playing it on your current card?
I'm running it on a vega 56, 50-60 fps at 1440p with settings adjusted to mostly medium (high in some places).

Undervolted and Overclocked the 56 is a handy card for most stuff. Should be cheap enough now? Maybe even get a vega 64?

Which game? Well both are still Alpha so no plans to play them yet. :pac:

Haha, yeah sorry I meant cyberpunk.

Eh yeah if you don't want to splash out, run it on your current card and get a Vega to tide over till you can buy a current gen card. That's my plan anyway. No point buying a 5700xt now and selling it in a couple of months.

What CPU jebidiah? I'm holding off until the new year to get off my i5 chip which is showing it's age in the last few months releases. I could play Cyberpunk with it but I think it'll hamper the experience a good bit.

Playing on a 3100 at the moment and I'm quite impressed with it. Getting just over 60FPS with some lower settings and 90% resolution scale. My 5800X is stuck at the in-laws in NI. I'm getting happier with the 5700XT also now I've set it to the silent BIOS, set a manual fan curve and undervolted it. (Red Devil)

You must be overclocking the living daylights out of that card then

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,625 ✭✭✭fergus1001

I just have the auto overclock option checked in adrenaline, have played 3 hours so far and I haven't noticed any noticable dips in fps so far

    Vega 56, Sapphire Pulse.

No, CPU, not GPU :) Actually have the exact same GPU. Curious what CPU you are pairing it with.

Interesting. Life in the old GPU yet. Tempted to suck it and see on my i5.

For anyone who wants to try it Quake 2 RTX can now be played on AMD GPU's that support Ray Tracing.

First footage I've seen of 6800XT running Quake 2 RTX

Appears to run it at mid to low 40FPS at 1440P. 60FPS probably doable at 1080p.

Mad to think when I first got Quake II I had a Pentium 1 166mhz, 64MB of RAM.

Now almost 25 years later it's still a relevant benchmark. I must play it again with RTX, since I got my 3070 I haven't even tried it out, remember playing it briefly on my 2070 but it ran like crap.

    Looks like MSI Afterburner

Besides overclocking it also does overlay of temps

    100% Afterburner

Just make sure you set the things you want to see to 'display in OSD' in the settings.

Some XFX Speedster Merc 6800XTs showing up on Amazon across Europe this morning.
    Could be a good sign.

Just came online to post that.

I bought one even though I was only looking for a 6800 :D
I'm sure if i get any buyers remorse i'll be able to sell it at cost.

    Ha. Same.
I wanted an all AMD build and now I'll have it.

At this point i feel the 6800 XT is the hardest GPU to get currently.

Rarely alerts and if not direct buy, very overpriced usually.
    I have a 3080 currently but I really want the 6800 XT

Yeah I'd definitely take the 6800xt over the 6900xt as the performance difference is not worth the price difference, but I'm getting bored of this scrambling to grab something before the bots ****e so I took what I could today.
    I guess I'll settle for the 6900xt :v
